We cover a range of topics, from memory and architecture to trauma and the spatial nature of repetition, via Italo Calvino, Marcel Proust, Friedrich Nietzsche, and William Burroughs – plus a bit of James Joyce – during a long talk about McCarthy's novel Remainder (previously described here).

I just have to say, you are a fantastic interviewer and McCarthy is an equally enthralling interviewee. That was fascinating. Maybe even better than the Murch interview.
Thanks, Tim - I think I could have trimmed some of my questions down a bit, but I'm glad you liked the interview. McCarthy is, indeed, a great respondent.

Great interview. My wife and I listened to it on a long trip this weekend. We both loved how he spoiled the entire book and then stopped himself, saying something like ". . . without giving the entire book away."
There were so many other works referenced therein, it could use a bibliography.
