Judge Alito Endures a High-Tech Strip-Search

BERJAYAWhat the Democrats did to Judge Alito yesterday was nothing but a high-tech strip-search. Democrats probed and prodded and poked at Judge Alito in an ultimately frustrated attempt to learn his innermost, private thoughts about the Constitution. As if this ordeal wasn't humiliating enough it was all done in public in front of his wife. Imagine how you would feel if your spouse or child was subjected to an invasive search before your very eyes. Mrs. Alito had no choice but to sit there and endure it, unable to abort the degrading proceedings without the consent of the Judiciary Committee and her husband. Finally, unable to take it anymore, she burst into tears. Is this what Democrats have become--the party that makes women cry?

Despite his wife's evident distress, Judge Alito, to his credit, never lost his cool. It was a remarkable demonstration of his ability to maintain a steely focus and not let feelings and emotions get in the way of fulfilling his duty to the law. In fact, his expression never changed or betrayed a single emotion throughout hours of questioning.

The low point of the day came when Senator Kennedy tried to subpoena documents that he hoped would include embarrassing private correspondence from Judge Alito. Maybe someone should tell the Senator that we live in a country where the government is prohibited from snooping on the private communications of its citizens with fishing expeditions. Let us hope that if the Democrats ever regain power, there will be a Judge Alito on the Supreme Court to stop them.
