No Readin' Ritin' Or 'Rithmatic

So I have been gone from my cardboard box here under the overpass of the series of tubes for a bit so I thought I would try to type letters and form them into words that make, maybe, a bit of sense (or not ymmv)

While I know no one takes it personally I just have not felt like reading or typing (much less math ugh :) ) lately.

Looking back I think it is the time of year.

As the comment I just left on my good friends Lindas blog the sunny days of golf and hanging at the deck bar are quickly coming to an end plus MR. 49 is up in about 18 days.

I don't do change to well this time of year even though it's the same every freaking year.

So no book of the face lately. No reading y'alls blogs. No nutten honey when it came to the innertubes 'cause that's how I was feeling and I knew/know that when I was ready to type this y'all would be "cool the drunk maryland guy typed something honey grab the kids and gather around the "puting machine" LOL

But not to belabor a point THANKS to Linda for reminding how long I have been absent.

So here is what is up as the cool kids say.

My dad and sister just left yesterday after a 5 day visit. Just the three of us that are left from the original family of five.

I commented a lot before and during the trip as we all get older and kids go to college and people die/move/ or otherwise aren't around that time you get to spend like we had last week was really special.

Sheri and I had a several good talks about Michele and where we both were in the grieving process (conclusion we are both still pretty pissed off) and Dad was his typical Dad self. We all enjoyed each others company and it was very nice (ither than the bar tabs they stuck me with :) )

Now normally after taking a week off leading into October you think I would be done.

But NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO (to paraphrase Steve Martin)

Monday the 11th I am off to play some golf.

I made the error of assuming COMPANY Z who is my main client at work was off on Columbus Day. Seems to me they were worse than England in taking time off so I assumed they would not be there on Monday and I could golf in peace.

Turns out I was wrong. OOPPPS. Eh I'm sure they will survive without me for a day.

Of course 9 days later I take off for my usual birthday bash back to Ft. Worth.

I am just hoping my company and company Z dont start to realize they can live without me (that would be bad I really dont want to have to rent out Dad's dog run in the backyard to live in)

So there you have it. Nothing major going on just surviving like most of us are trying to do.

*****************************BUT WAIT*************************

There was one major update.

Saturday I did the normal cookout when I have family in town and J and M brought my lovely "nieces" (I say that because we aren't related by blood but by love) and Kate and Nat discovered two items in my house within their lovely reach.

Nat found DUTCH THE LUCKY MONKEY. Kate found SHAKY BACON! ZOMG

(imagine pics inserted here but the taplop and blogger aren't cooperating)

So it comes time to go home and the girls were all "I want the Dutch The Lucky Monkey I want the Bacon" and who was I to say no?

You know who I was? A very luck guy to have such wonderful nieces who I Love so much and who appear to love me too!

okay now done with typing letters into words. love y'all

Things I Am Looking Forward To

Hey lets be positive whatcha say?

Oddly enough I am looking forward to a weekend off from golf this Saturday. I'm thinking a break can't hurt my game and maybe it will help. (of course i think the same thing on the course while i am pounding back budweisers)

Really looking forward to the opening of the NFL season and while college football opening weekend has passed am looking forward to seeing if my FROGS can go undefeated again this year.

Looking forward to my sister Sheri and my Dad coming up at the end of the month. With two kids in college and all of us getting older and spread out over gawds green acre this may be one of the last chances the "final" three of us have to just hang and enjoy the original family before those danged kids and brother in laws showed up :)

Looking forward to my vacation back to Ft. Worth in October, having lunch with Christina (hey she plays her cards right it is Mama's Pizza), seeing teh Frogs play and just hanging out with friends. If Marita doesn't get picked for jury duty that week it may, in fact, be the perfect vacation.

So there you have it. Not the most exciting list in the world but it gets me out of bed in the morning!

Love y'all and a great rest of the week to ya

A Little 3 and 1/2 Day Weekend Music

This song came on teh CD player in the car (and yes I know I bitch about stuff and I have a CD player in the car. I get it.) and one line made me cry but not because I was sad or dwelling or had a for shit day it was just 'cause.

I think Ma and Michele do think "The longer I'm gone the closer I am to you"

At least that's what I'm telling myself this evening and if I am wrong I dare one or both of them to come down here and prove it! :)

I hope everyone has a great, and more importantly safe, holiday weekend. Mine is sandwiched between golf SAT and MON and lawn work on Sunday.

As alwys love y'all

7 Things I Like Meme (Thanks Lisa)

Lisa got tagged with this and is to nice to tag but suggested when are muse has left us we could use it.
(still waiting on my muse to arrive but hey we all have things to deal with)

So hear goes. 7 Things I like. If you want to play along now or in the future rumor has it blogging is free....

#1 I like my family.
Actually I love my family and those of you who stop by here know that. From those who are still here on this earthly plane (or is it plain? dangit) I have been very lucky to be born to my Mom and Dad and have the family I do. I used to take that for granted not most of the time but ALL the time. Glad I finally wised up on front.

#2. I like Fort Worth/TCU
Now that Sheri has moved to the great white north, the kids are in college, and Dad comes up here to see me I am able to take my second trip back this year to Ft. Worth.
It may sound odd but in college I became (for the most part and for better or worse) who I am in that city.
I still grin like a big ol' dope when I drive into Ft. Worth on I-30 for that first time when I get home.

#3. I like to play golf.
I am not very good. I carry a 21-25 handicap depending on what time of year it is.
But something about getting away for 4+ hours and just hitting the snot out of a ball, watching a shot go just perfect when my other 98 went sooooooo very wrong I just like it.
Plus it gives me and Dad something to talk about and something to do together.

#4. I Like Beer (OK Budweiser)
I grew up in a beer drinking German and English family. And while throughout the course of my life I may have not always been honest with myself about some things I always made sure I was honest about I like to drink beer.
I'm either the highest functioning drunk in the country or I know what those beer boundaries are and pretty much have been able to abide by them.
I report you decide.

#5. I like teh Dallas Cowboys
I know this may sound like the typical "GRRR ARGH ME PENISED MUST LIKE FOO-BALL" but I really do like my Cowboys.
Maybe it is because so many other people hate them. Or not. But I likes me some Cowboy football on a Sunday afternoon.

#6.I like Smoking Cigarettes
And I know I need to stop liking this. I think the smoking (and maybe to some degree the drinking beer) may be linked to my whole attitude of we are not guaranteed tomorrow. Hell I am not even guaranteed Midnight.
Our lives are finite. Enjoy them, right?

#7. (and I may have stolen this from Lisa) I like YOU
I have been remiss in telling you, either here at this glob or at the book of the face, or wherever our lives intersect how much you mean to me.

This new family that you have allowed me into is incredible. I am better off for knowing you.

Thanks for that. (and yes again I love y'all so much no links look at teh dang globroll LOL)

So there are my 7 things. As Lisa says when the muse is gone tuck this one away.
For me it's been nice typing this tonight (yeas and still you'll never see me refer to myself as a writer lol)

Thanks again for letting me into your lives.

See around the connected series of tubes we all inhabit.

Love Ya

Bo -Nus Monty Python Plus Other Random Blog Postings

The MP is for Bob who I understand has a new kitteh.

So go say Hey to new island kitty.

I was all set to be down tonight because, well, I'm caught between five (no three sir) unmovable forces at work.

As is my want (is it wont or something else) I went to the deck to have a beer or more and hung with friends (wish y'all could have been there) and was ready to sulk because that is my ceiling cat given right as an americuun.

(it says so in that old piece of paper thingy)

Well a couple days ago I texted my nephew to see how the whole first days of being in college were and he texted me back.

Here is his text:"They are going awesome thanks so much i love u to
(emphasis mine)

how can you be down after that?

maybe uncle steve isn't as much as a relic as he thought :)

time marches on.

i dont know how you folks who are parents do it. because that just melt my heart.

and now he is doing gawd knows what lol! (i'm sure its lots of studying just like me in college)

some folks have a mid life crisis.

im not rich enough for that.

i think im having a mid life plateau.

but if thats the worse thing that happens to me (as my dear sainted mother used to say) that aint a bad day.

(just so you know if there are any saints they all went "HUH?" and Ma went "Deal with it")

And now some Monty Python because Random Python Monty Globbing has been away to long.

Love you all very much. One day I WILL meet you face to face. (not sure if that works more for me or you lol)
