Halloween Countdown: "I Put A Spell On You" from the 1993 Movie "Hocus Pocus" -18 Days And Counting

I LOVE HALLOWEEN!   And lets face it, it really is one of the gayest and best of all holidays!  Halloween street events in gay villages Key West, Florida, Christopher Street in New York, Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood and the Castro in San Francisco have evolved from informal parades into Mardi Gras-like events with "drinking and dancing and carrying on in the streets (And unfortunately have had some of the same problems as Mardi Gras as of late)

Everyday until Halloween Back2Stonewall.com will bring you some of the best Halloween clips out there from funny to scary to downright GAY!

And since we just mentioned GAY lets start off with Bette Midler, Kathy Najimi and Carrie Bradshaw Sarah Jessica Parker performing  "I Put a Spell On You" from the "Hocus Pocus."

"Hocus Pocus" Trivia:

* When Bette Midler takes the stage at the town Halloween Party, she says "Hello Salem, my name is Winifred. What's yours?". This is a take-off of the famous line, "Hello world, my name is Rose, what's yours?" that is spoken by Mama Rose in the musical "Gypsy". Midler played Mama Rose in the television version, Gypsy (1993), the same year this film was released.

* Rosie O'Donnell was originally offered the role of Mary Sanderson, but it was ultimately given to Kathy Najimy. O'Donnell claims on her blog that she turned down the offer to work with the Divine Miss M because she didn't want to be a "scary witch".

*  A child wearing a Michael Myers Mask and Clown Suit was seen out the front of the "Devils" house.

*  In this film, Sarah Jessica Parker plays a witch who was executed during the Salem Witch Trials in the late 1600s. While researching her family history for the show "Who Do You Think You Are?" (2004), Parker was shocked to discover that her 10th great-grandmother Esther Elwell was arrested in Salem in the late 1600s for committing "sundry acts of witchcraft" and choking a neighbour to death. Esther's case never went to court, she escaped with her life and the accusation ended the Salem Witch Trials. Parker said: "It has changed everything about who I thought I was."

Federal Judge ORDERS Obama Administration To Stop All DADT Discharges Immediately"

BERJAYA
Earlier today U.S. District Judge Virginia A. Phillips who last month ruled that DADT was UNCONSTITUTIONAL saying that the “Don't ask, Don't tell” policy violates the 1st Amendment rights of lesbians and gay members, after hearing appreals (And of course the DOJ had to appeal it.) has ordered the Defense Department to 'immediately to suspend and discontinue any investigation, or discharge, separation, or other proceeding.'"
ORDERS Defendants United States of America and the Secretary of Defense immediately to suspend and discontinue any investigation, or discharge, separation, or other proceeding, that may have been commenced under the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" Act, or pursuant to 10 U.S.C. § 654 or its implementing regulations, on or prior to the date of this Judgment
This is probably the LAST chance that President Obama will have to take the easy route out and toput up or shut up. Blame the judge and don;t appeal.  Obama doesn't have to fight this decision., the DOJ doesn't have to seek a stay --  For the past year, a wide array of apologists have challenged that view.  What happens now will truly l tell you all you need to know about whether the Democratic party is on your side, or whether they are simply using you for your vote and your money.

Expect a decision shortly from the White House.

Obama Administration Department Of Justice Files Last Minute Appeal To Dedend DOMA in Gill v. Office of Personnel Management

BERJAYA
Just mere hours AFTER a Federal Judge ordered The Obama Administration to cease all "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" discharges immediately.  Obama's Department of Justice will appeal the recent the victory in the recent DOMA Lawsuit that found DOMA discriminatory and would force the government to federally recognize all same sex marriages that have been performed in Massachusetts.
The Department of Justice filed a notice of appeal in the case of Gill v. Office of Personnel Management, the challenge brought by Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders (GLAD) to Section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). Representing seven married same-sex couples and three widowers, GLAD filed Gill in March 2009. The case was heard in May 2010 by U.S. District Court Joseph L. Tauro, who issued a decision finding DOMA Section 3 unconstitutional on July 8, 2010.

We fully expected an appeal and are more than ready to meet it head on,” said Mary L. Bonauto, GLAD’s Civil Rights Project Director. “DOMA brings harm to families like our plaintiffs every day, denying married couples and their children basic protections like health insurance, pensions, and Social Security benefits. We are confident in the strength of our case.

The case is now before the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. The next step will be for the government to file its brief to that court arguing that Judge Tauro’s ruling was wrong. GLAD will then file its brief in opposition to the government, and finally the government will file a reply brief. At that point, the appeal will be scheduled for oral argument. Briefing could be concluded by the spring of 2011 with oral argument to follow by the fall of 2011.

The government also today filed its notice of appeal in the related case Commonwealth of Massachusetts vs. Department of Health and Human Services.
Co-counsel in the Gill case are attorneys from the firms Foley Hoag LLP, Sullivan & Worcester LLP, Jenner & Block LLP, and Kator, Parks & Weiser, PLLC.

Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders is New England’s leading legal organization dedicated to ending discrimination based on sexual orientation, HIV status, and gender identity and expression
That my readers is out fierce fucking advocate at work.

But hey, just remember what the HRC keeps telling us that the Administration is on our side and we owe this President our gratitude.

Dan Savage Responds To Valarie Jarrett, Brian Bond and The White House Over The Human Rights Campaign National Dinner Speech - "FUCK YOU!"

BERJAYA
""Fuck you, you pack of co-opting cowards. Seriously. You can do a more than offer hope. You have the power to make it better. Right now. Suspend enforcement of DADT. Don't appeal the decision by a federal judge that declared DADT unconstitutional. Stop defending DOMA in court. Keep your promises. Make it better. And if you're not going to keep your promises or do what you can to make it better, White House, then you could at least have the simple human decency to shut the fuck up.
State-sanctioned discrimination against LGBT people legitimizes the kind of anti-gay attitudes and beliefs that lead directly to anti-gay bullying at the ballot box and anti-gay bullying in schools. You can do more. Enough with the speeches. Enough with the pretty words—particularly lifted ones. Fuck you." - Dan Savage, responding to the White House's posting of an "It Gets Better" message from Brian Bond, Deputy Director of the Office of Public Engagement
Dan's pissed, I'm pissed and you should be also.  It's far beyond the time that we take our activism and anger back to the streets and out of HRC and its Corporate Boardroom asskissing ways.

As it stands now , the White House is just as culpable for these poor teens’ deaths  as the people who bullied them, and also the violence, harassement, and discriminination that we as LGBT adults deal with everyday because they send the message loud and clear that LGBTs are second class citizens whose rights and dignity are forfeit to pretty much any other interest the administration holds.  And the HRC is just as culpable for kissing thier ass and putting thier interests before that of our community as a whole.

It's about fucking time WE STOOD UP and did something.

TARGET Backed GOP Candidate for Minnesota Governor Tom Emmer Doesn't Believe In Or Back Anti-Bullying Legislature (Video)

This really isn't all that shocking considering that Tom Emmer is a total douchebag.  But in a recent debate between Emmer, Democratic Candidate for Govenor of MN Mark Dayton and Independent Candidate Tom Horner, who are both FOR anti-bullying legislature, Emmer who admitted to be being bullied when he was a child himself and has children in public school system strongly came out against it.
I don’t think we need more laws. I think we need more understanding. We need people to start to understand what respect is all about. And guess what? Every one of us has a point of view. We are supposed to respect each other’s point of view, and we're not supposed to tell somebody, because they have a different point of view, that they are not entitled to have that. We should all be able to have the point of view and respect each other but we don’t need more laws trying to get in between people.
So according to Emmer harassment, hate and violence is nothing more than a POV and should be respected.

Luckily King Douchebag Emmer is behind in virtually every poll and Mark Dayton has the lead. Dayton not only came out strongly for anti-bullying legislation but also gay marriage during the debate and and turned the tables on Republican Teabaggers by reciting the most important part of The Declaration of Independence quoting "that all men are created equal".

Well played Mr. Dayton!

The Brett Farve Naked Penis Pictures Are Here! - Oh C'mon, You Kow You Want To Look!

BERJAYA
Well those X-rated cellphone cock shots pictures that Breet Favre sent  The Daily Line's Jenn Sterger while they were both part of the Jets organization have been leaked and Back2Stonewall.com has them!

For those who don't know Jenn Sterger is a Florida State Cowgirl  She did Maxim shoots. Playboy shoots. She wrote a "Confessions of a Cowgirl" column for Sports Illustrated. Then, in 2008, Ms. Sterger joined the Jets as an in-house sideline reporter where she eventually met Favre

A few eeks ago Sterger said that Favre used to call her early in the season and leave strange,  on her voicemail. She played me one of these voicemails over the phone.

Sterger spurned Favre's advances because he was married, but also because she was working for the Jets  But then, one night, Sterger received a picture on her phone which was so shocking that she just tossed it across the room. It was his dick. Brett Favre's dick. And it happened multiple times. In fact, Sterger claims that, in one of the photos Favre allegedly sent her, he's masturbating — while wearing a pair of Crocs. In another photo, Favre is holding his penis while wearing the wristwatch he wore during his first teary-eyed retirement press conference.

And yes, that is Favre's dick you'll see after the jump.  You can tell by the way he's fumbling his balls.

Me, not impressed.  Let's hope that one day Peyton Manning gets a hankering to use his cellphoine in creative ways one day.

19 Year Old Lesbian Aiyisha Hassan Commits Suicide - This Has Got To End!

BERJAYA
19 Year old lesbian Aiyisha Hassan, A former Howard University student died from suicide on Tuesday, Oct. 5, in her home state of California.

Lauren Morris, 21, a senior at Howard, who lived in the same building as Hassan from 2008-2009, ''She was having a lot of trouble with a lot of different things,'' Morris says, ''but mainly her sexual identity and just trying to express that.''

Amari Ice, 22, president of C.A.S.C.A.D.E., the Coalition of Activist Students Celebrating the Acceptance of Diversity and Equality, Howard University's LGBT student group, said Lauren was a lesbian who attended C.A.S.C.A.D.E. meetings regularly.

Sterling Washington, co-founder of C.A.S.C.A.D.E. and former president, came upon news of Hassan's suicide after attending a C.A.S.C.A.D.E. event at the university this week.  ''What happens in a large group trickles down to the junior members… so in this case it's members of society so it affects youth in general,'' he said. ''Those straight-identified youth who already had a proclivity, who already had from their parents, their socialization, this idea that gays are less than, it sort of gives them permission and facilities this whole bullying thing so that those that are most vulnerable to it sometimes see suicide as an out.''

A vigil was held Thursday to mourn Aiyisha passing  at Howard University last Thursday night.

That makes 7 LGBT suicides that we know of this past month.  And that's 7 too many.
