AS the unquestioned Religious and moral authority of our community I have deemed it appropriate that I, Ayatollah Truthmeni, deliver the farewell address for our friend and inventor of the now popular term among righties who are ashamed to be righties but are too proud to admit they're Lefties or just ashamed of George Bush.
Rational's arguments with Chairman TAO were legendary. We learned perseverance because despite losing every one of them, Rational always came back for more. He was like "Rocky." Except Rocky won some of his fights.
When Rational first came on the scene I welcomed and encouraged him to blog. He is a decent fellow. Anyone that likes a fine cigar and good glass of wine can't be all bad. As times went on Rational even started a website that seems to be doing well. He got some articles published at bigger blogs which I never read except for when RN told me he had an article published at one so I read it. It was about Gays in the military I think. It was well done.
As things further developed though, RN learned a lesson I've been espousing since 2006. Feuds are good for traffic. The laymen that read blogs barely skim over the post to get to the comments and read the insults. I had a feud with Bluepitbull that had traffic numbers rivaling the first "Neocon Lesbian Hottie" post.
So RN figured out that being civil with Lefty isn't good for traffic. Maybe he got the word from some right wing blogmaster that demands anger and vitriol from those he bestows traffic and advertising dollars upon. If that is the case I don't blame RN for going nuts and becoming a reactionary reich winger. He's a righty. He did it for the money.
I wish you well Les of Rational Nation. We had some good times. I'll have a couple virgins waiting for you. They'll be dressed in Turner Original T's.

Just one more dying gasp in the coming mass extinction of the Fox Noise watching dinosaurs. It will take a couple of decades but the demographics of the country are changing and the righties are on the losing end.
The latest polls show the GAP between the rich and poor has grown over the past 10 years. The economy is in the tank and the wealthy employers want more money incentives to create jobs. Whereas you and I and moderate conservatives such as Pamela view the blogosphere as a free and open democratic forum for the exchange of viewpoints and ideas, there are others who approach politics as an act of war.
Witness the series of posts by Pamela and Shaw on identity theft, fraudulent blogs, and cyber-bullying. Witness the amount of Malware and malicious viruses attacking progressive weblogs. Witness invasions of privacy by right wing bloggers as they hack into the private email accounts and business websites of progressive bloggers.
This kind of behavior is not only immoral, it is criminal; and only certain right wingers (such as a few friends and associates of RN) pull off this shit
Infecting liberal blogs with viruses is their way of declaring war on you and stifling your voice by shutting you down. Meanwhile the hypocritical bastards have the gall to talk about freedom and liberty as they assault you in criminal fashion !!!!!!
It is incredibly naive to allow yourself to be suckered with complements as they cut your throat.
I have reported a recent Malware attack on the Swash Zone to law enforcement and will start legal proceedings as soon as addresses, IP and actual, have been identified.
Meanwhile, I caution everyone to be extra cautious with respect to suspicious links, unknown email, and anonymous or unknown commenters.
I have no sympathy for RN who associates with cyber-criminals or anyone else wearing moral blinders. TO HELL WITH THEM.

Octopus I have only been in the land of bloggy for a little over a year so I probably am naive. I'm being careful and cautious as you suggest but I still have my sense of humor about the whole wingnuttery business.
Truth I can't delete lisa completely from commenting but I do direct the comments to SPAM when she shows up. Some wingnuts, like Linda, are fun to keep around because they are such teabagger nutjobs it makes for fun debate. I don't take her seriously, she is so far out there. lisa was just stupid and plain not fun....
Sue, in a normal universe I would share your sense of humor about this wingnuttery business if it were harmless.
However, when people are forced to shell out $$$ for anti-virus software, consultants, new disk drives, and new computers, it is NO LONGER HARMLESS!
When people are deprived of their fundamental Constitutional right to free speech, it is NO LONGER HARMLESS!
When bloggers have their private lives invaded and their business Internet accounts hacked, it is NO LONGER HARMLESS!
When people are getting HURT, it is NO LONGER HARMLESS!
This is not a trivial matter. When RN rants and rages with partisan polemics by refusing to face up to the fact that one or more of his colleagues engages in criminal behavior, this is not a trivial matter.
This is one boundary that should never be crossed.
Octopus if I came across as being unsympathetic to your troubles with the wingnuts and their hideous evil doings, I am sorry. I did not intend to trivialize any of it. I really am being serious when I say I'm being careful and cautious when it comes to the wackos in blogland.
A long time ago, it seems to me at least, RN came to my blog and tried to argue with me about stuff I posted about. I just ignored him pretty much and he went away. I was kind of surprised to find him over here but as Octopus implies: good riddance to bad rubbish. I really don't care about traffic and I don't want to get into nasty arguments with people either. I express my viewpoint to let off steam as I live in a very regressive, republican area and I get sick and tired of their crap. I wanna hang out with people who have the same viewpoints I do. That's what I get out of blogging.
Rocky in fact DID win from time to time. And, no, I do not begrudge him that. His 1976 win at the Oscars (Best Picture) - that, on the other hand, I will begrudge him forever/(with homage to Clinton)til the last dog dies!
