Lusby, Maryland (CNN) -- A conservative activist known for making undercover videos plotted to embarrass a CNN correspondent by recording a meeting on hidden cameras aboard a floating "palace of pleasure" and making sexually suggestive comments, e-mails and a planning document show.
James O'Keefe, best known for hitting the community organizing group ACORN with an undercover video sting, hoped to get CNN Investigative Correspondent Abbie Boudreau onto a boat filled with sexually explicit props and then record the session, those documents show.
The plan apparently was thwarted after Boudreau was warned minutes before it was supposed to happen.
"I never intended to become part of the story," Boudreau said. "But things suddenly took a very strange turn."
O'Keefe is best known for making a series of undercover videos inside ACORN offices around the country in 2009. The 40-year-old liberal group was crippled by scandal after O'Keefe and fellow activist Hannah Giles allegedly solicited advice from ACORN workers on setting up a brothel and evading taxes.

What's really the best part is O'Keefe's written plans for this "CNN Caper." http://www.cnn.com/interactive/2010/09/specials/cnn.caper/index.html
I hope Breitbart isn't paying this guy too much money. What a maroon! He must have had beginner's luck with the ACORN catch.
Have you seen the outrageous 1970s SuperFly pimp and hooker outfits those two wore? He wasn't lucky, the ACORN workers were just unusually clueless.
I don’t think we need to insult a guy who almost single-handedly exposed one of the most vile, corrupt LeftWing government institutions in History...
This guy has to give this stuff up. He’s making a fool of himself now.
Don't they have the whole thing on tape? And it's still "allegedly."
How many times was the word "allegedly" used in the "koran-in-the-toilet" story, or countless other media attack pieces targeted at conservatives?

I think this is great! It sounds as if she hadn't been warned she would have walked right into it. The next best thing to it having worked is to be that close with such an obvious fake story and totally embarrassing the "journalist". (I use that term loosely)
CNN and the rest of the lame street media have been willing to look into any far-fetched story, as long as the right was the target. Now, they have to watch out for being made a nation-wide embarrassment on every unsubstantiated story.
Great job Kevin!
Sorry, much as I admired O’Keefe’s riff on ACORN, Santa comes across as the only sane person in this exercise.
Kevin??? I meant James

I am careful about what I believe from CNN, and this guy is a less skilled operative that is impressed with himself.
CNN let slip his remark that he believed Abbie was trying to seduce him (obviously for access that they could cut and paste to make him look bad) and he would turn the tables.
I believe CNN would do this, and this guy IS a maroon for an incredibly worse plan than CNN had, and even worse execution.
Can this guy please switch sides, please.
Good work, O’Keefe. You made yourself the subject of a smear-the-right story.
This guy is a moron. When he plead down in his recent trail and was placed on probation, he no doubt agreed to certain conditions. The federal magistrate “repeatedly told the defendants that, as journalists, they needed to learn ‘where to draw a line’ in their investigative methods.” Any idea what happens when you piss off a federal judge because you’re trying to be too cute by half?
this is less than half-baked, it seems entirely un-baked!
so he wants to embarrass CNN for using a bimbo “investigative” reporter to get close to him?
seems like he needed to have his own team & plan a lot more organized and focused before he attempted something, especially in the state of MD
“almost highhandedly” ... if you include Breitbart, several skillful tape editors, and the entire FNC apparatus.
I wonder if Fox will cover this fiasco - and how they will explain it.
Maybe O’Keefe should just do a reality show on MTV, one the follows him around while he works out these brilliant schemes. Call it “O’Keefer Madness.”
“The plan apparently was thwarted after Boudreau was warned minutes before it was supposed to happen. “
SO...... It’s only because she was tipped off that she didn’t go.
You sound as if you have a vested interest in bringing him down.....
Time-Lies. Boycott Time-Warner-Turner-CNN.
I remember in the 1980s when there were several times that CNN reporters had their expensive camera gear stolen (possibly by porno filmmakers wanting high grade equipment) by falling for a scam where the thief drops a twenty dollar bill and asks the reporter if it’s his.
The reporter sets down his camera to pick up the cash and the theif grabs the camera and runs.
If he keeps trying, he’ll eventually either get another huge hit or he’ll get himself put in jail.
James is my hero.
Go to YouTube and watch the video where he goes to the University administrator and tells her the “Lucky Charms” insult Irish Americans. It’s a classic.
A “vested interest”? That’s a “Personal stake, or expectation of personal gain, that underlies a strong commitment to maintain or influence an action.”

I’ve got no personal stake at all, except that we both graduated from the same university (20 years apart) and his antics makes RU graduates look like jokes.
This is an embarrassment to Conservative causes. If O’Keefe is a real journalist, he can find plenty of pressing issues to uncover instead of trying to stage fake ones.
Why do you ask that, anyway? Do you have a “vested interest” in seeing him succeed?
Is it possible that, all along, O'Keefe has been attempting to embarrass conservatives?
No, he and Breitbart have crippled ACORN and any “embarrassment” is simply a phantom created by the media.
If that’s true, Breitbart and Fox News have been taken for a big ride. I think the kid is just a naive opportunist who’s confused easy fame with success and accomplishment.
Looks like his fame has gone to his head. He`s jumped the shark with this one. As far as I`m concerned, this crap stunt undermines all the good he did in exposing ACORN for what it is.
“Have you seen the outrageous 1970s SuperFly pimp and hooker outfits those two wore?”
Yup. His outfit was straight out of Superfly or Shaft. It`s amazing he thought pimps nowadays actually dress like that. lol Well, he`s certainly now given Chris *Tingles* Matthews and Bathtub Boy Olbermann a lot of cannon fodder.
He’s just a kid whose been told by people older than him that he’s smart, funny, genius.
He’s not. He’s a kid whose ego has been fed by older people he admires.
He needs to spend 12-18 months in Iraq, and then, because the food and the tactics are different, another 12-18 months in Afghanistan.
He’d come back 3 years older and a hell of a lot older and wiser.
Forgive him, he’s just punked himself, as young people so often do.
The problem here is that it’s causing the other “news organizations” to go back over O’Keefe’s other activities, *including* the ACORN stuff. And the argument is being made in the other outlets that that ACORN videos were selectively edited to make it *appear* as if they were trying to help them set up an illegal brothel - but that the full unedited tapes show nothing of the kind.
So for all the good that he might have done by helping destroy ACORN, it looks like he might end up snatching defeat from the jaws of victory again. What good will it do for the Conservative cause if it appears to be creating scandals out of whole cloth, by manipulating video and then drumming them up on Fox?
This might end up harming Breitbart most of all - not only because Breitbart ran O’Keefe’s ACORN videos, but because Breitbart used the “deceptively edited” Sherrod video. (It had been edited - whether deceptively or not is the question.)
Is Breitbart not vetting his stuff enough? When it comes in across the transom, should he be investigating it more thoroughly? He might have to, or lose his credibility, even among Conservatives. If you couldn’t trust the source - even if you like them philosophically - how does that make you approach their stories?
