Before she stole the hearts of tea party activists, Delaware GOP Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell was best known for her regular and bizarre punditry on 22 different episodes of Politically Incorrect. The host of that show, Bill Maher, now has an HBO show called Real Time.
Last night, Real Time aired its first show of the current season. Maher began by mocking O’Donnell, calling her “an uemployed, anti-masturbation activist and a close friend of mine.” “I created her,” Maher told the audience, turning to the camera and stating, “You owe me Christine O’Donnell.” Maher said that he has great fondness for O’Donnell, adding, “She does not have a mean bone in her body, or any other bone in her body.”
Later in the show, Maher played a previously-unaired Oct. 29, 1999 clip of O’Donnell on Politically Incorrect, in which O’Donnell said she once “practiced witchcraft”:
O’DONNELL: I dabbled into witchcraft — I never joined a coven. But I did, I did. … I dabbled into witchcraft. I hung around people who were doing these things. I’m not making this stuff up. I know what they told me they do. [...]
One of my first dates with a witch was on a satanic altar, and I didn’t know it. I mean, there’s little blood there and stuff like that. … We went to a movie and then had a midnight picnic on a satanic altar.
Watch it:
Maher joked that he’s going to show a fresh clip of O’Donnell every week on his show until O’Donnell agrees to appear again on his show. “I’m just saying, Christine, it’s like a hostage crisis,” he said, “every week you don’t show up, I’m going to throw another body out.”

uuuuuuuuh.
If she was doing stuff with Satanism I’m pretty sure that means she wasn’t into neo-paganism and was into Satanism.
Though in all fairness the two can be confused.
September 18th, 2010 at 2:13 amWhoa, man, if this doesn’t kill her chances, nothing will.
Wait ’til Sarah finds out she’s endorsed someone dabbling in MEDIUMS. She is a weird one, and that’s putting it NICELY!
September 18th, 2010 at 2:15 amP Funk -
Watch the video then tell us why you think this nut bag is senator material.
September 18th, 2010 at 2:18 amO’Donnell is one piece of work. She is the Loony Queen, and almost as disturbed and mentally confused as out resident troll.
No wonder he has a “thing” for her.
September 18th, 2010 at 2:19 amSo just which of her alter egos was this, or was that in an alternate universe. This is just an old heathen’s opinion, but maybe someday she’ll find out there’s a difference between Wicca and Satanism; hm, one of her first dates with a witch; how many first dates were there? And if she’s dating witches, does that make her a lesbian? After all, aren’t the male priests and shamen in Wicca called warlocks? ah well… enough levity.
September 18th, 2010 at 2:22 amThis to my knowledge is the first Senate nominee in history to willingly confess at any point in their life to having engaged in satanic activities.
Or witchcraft for that matter.
I think that might make her the most unqualified Senate nominee ever.
September 18th, 2010 at 2:23 am“One of my first dates with a witch was on a satanic alter”
So much for her being a virgin.
September 18th, 2010 at 2:27 amNahhh. Rushbo the Satanic Clown has blessed her.
She is forgiven of all prior sins. AND she’s a virgin again!!
Man, you can’t make this stuff up. Count Delaware in the (D) column for 2010.
September 18th, 2010 at 2:33 am“I dabbled into witchcraft. …I did. I did. I dabbled into witchcraft.”
Sounds to me like this is code for touching one’s self.
September 18th, 2010 at 2:35 amcd @ 10, that would certainly constitute a change, thereby giving credence to the transcriptionists use of the word alter, instead of altar.
September 18th, 2010 at 2:35 amCan you imagine what Adams, Jefferson, Hamilton, Madison, and Jay would say about the state of senatorial debate in 2010? My guess is they’d run back to King George III!
September 18th, 2010 at 2:36 amI’ve got to wonder if she’s secretly into satanism.
Well really what kind of a moron just dabbles in the black arts?

Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska is expected to announce Friday she will run as a write-in candidate in the November election, in a bid to keep her seat, sources told CNN.
September 18th, 2010 at 2:40 amDelaware: Small Wonder?
September 18th, 2010 at 2:42 amWhy is it that Conservatives use putdowns like “savages”, “backward”, “uncivilized” when talking about Hispanics, Muslims, Haitians, etc., then rush to the polls to vote for people straight out of the Dark Ages like O’Donnell?
Aah… the irony of it all…
September 18th, 2010 at 2:52 amDid Harry Potter make Christine do this?
September 18th, 2010 at 3:18 amI hope christine o’donell meats Mr Right Dildo soon ………
September 18th, 2010 at 3:29 amHalf of these F~ing teaBaggers are untreated head cases
September 18th, 2010 at 3:35 amand the other half are F~ing STUPID !
This woman is phucking unreal. She tells this stuff like she is proud of it, like she is hanging out with peers at a high school party.
You all have great comments, hard to top them, so I will just say, really?? This woman dated a witch, was picnicking at a Satanic alter?? And Christians are willing to vote for this fruitcake? My God, the devil really has taken over the republican party.
September 18th, 2010 at 3:57 amI’m sure she “dabbled in witchcraft” just like that one Liberty University Dean was a secret muss-lem terr’st.
Funny how these neo-christian sociopaths can’t seem to get their “false” religions right, and always mix-and-match different religions (almost always with Biblical Satanism), to try and lend an air of authenticity to their claims of being born again christians.
It just goes to show the inauthentic, dubios, pragmatic, dishonest means that these types will go to just to try to get another convert for their holy figure of choice.
Fortunately, they are (for the most part) just preaching to their respective choir, and really just polarizing their base and wasting their breath on the gullibil ignorant.
~Dylan (Keepin the faith)
September 18th, 2010 at 4:02 amI mean really…what will we hear coming so proudly out of her mouth next?
O’Donnell: Yes I still am a virgin, but I have had anal sex a couple dozen times with a man whom, just to remain pure, ha, ha, really I have!
The way she laughs in these videos, like everybody is with her and on her side, not getting that they are laughing at her naivety and stupidity.
A big thank you goes out to Sarah Palin and the Delaware teabaggers.
Tip for St. Sarah: You may want your witch doctor pal to start vetting these candidates before you endorse them.
September 18th, 2010 at 4:03 amRemember when we were being told that the tea party movement wasn’t just a republican movement? I guess the cat is out of the bag huh?
September 18th, 2010 at 4:06 amThese teabaggers need a group enema … this bunch is so backed up !
September 18th, 2010 at 4:07 amIf the tea bag express need to find more candidates for 2012 they need to look no further than the nearest loony bin.
September 18th, 2010 at 4:09 amBamboo Harvester and Insidious Prophet (In regards to post 27)
I remember when they initially came out claiming to be a Grass Roots, non-partisan organization…
Until it was fully exposed that they were in no way, shape or form grass roots, having financial and moral ( a word i am loathe to use when speaking of the tea party) backing from huge financial institutions, which were either republican, christian, or in dirrect opposition to Pres. Obamas policies (see health care companies).
They also greatly proved themselves to be liars when they claimed to be non-partisan, being as they got their news almost exclusively from Fox News, backed only conservative/repub candidates, and espoused complete (bullcrap) christian rhertoric (Anti-homosexual marriage, anti-choice, and now against “smackin the spud”[my new favorite euphemism]).
This, coupled with dishonest advertisement, dishonest politics, dishonest hsitores and dishonest funding…

September 18th, 2010 at 4:30 amcd, you speak from UTTEER IGNORANCE in Post #4. The “confusion” between Old-style Pagan beliefs and Satanism was created by the Inquisition, and it is continued by religious bigots and haters.
Neo-Paganism DOES NOT BELIEVE in ANY sort of “principle of pure evil.” We believe in various Goddesses and Gods of NATURE. Much of our practice focuses in fact on HEALING, whether by energy techniques similar to Reiki, or by herbalism.
Satanists, OTOH, are mostly motivated by selfish “Get what I want by any means necessary” attitudes.

September 18th, 2010 at 4:55 amIn regards to T.H.E.Cat,
In all honesty, I am under the impression that when the ignorant fundies speak of “satanism”, they are refering to biblical Satanism, and not LaVayan Satanism, something that I am relative sure they couldn’t tell the difference, mostly due to a lack of caring w hat they point the finger at, and more towards the fact that they get to point their collective fingers at something

September 18th, 2010 at 5:20 amNothing surprising here. The Right in America are exceedingly superstitious.
Breathes there a right-winger who hasn’t tried to cast a hex on liberals, at least one or two times? They think we’re conniving to destroy Xmas, after all. I’m sure every Republican in America prays every day for bad things to happen to Democrats. But their God is weak.

September 18th, 2010 at 8:13 amBurning Questions: Does Christine get to keep and spend the influx of money that just poured into the campaign chest? Wasn’t Sarah Palin involved with a church that employed a witch doctor at some of their “ceremonies”?
September 18th, 2010 at 8:15 amNot to sound like a Hipster d-bag, but I was an atheist before being an atheist was cool.
Seriously though, we are talking about a people who base their lives on (selectively cherry-picked) ancient jewish fables, many of which are either scientifically inaccurate (refering to bats as birds for example) or contradict each
other excessively.
To think, people can hardly get elected into office if they don’t profusely espouse a belief in biblical religion…

September 18th, 2010 at 8:19 amI’m afraid O’Donnell will need to ratchet up the crazy even more to get in the pecking order for Teabagger face time. As these unprincipled clowns start clawing at each other in the coming months into 2012, the dirty laundry and closeted skeletons will be too numerous to document. If nothing else, all this Teabbager crazy will make for an interesting 2012 GOP primary. I wonder if Gingrich has a clause in his appearance contract that says people can’t ask him about his marriage foibles?
September 18th, 2010 at 8:20 amDylan,
I was raised as a Methodist. I even played in the youth group band.
At about age 13 I started asking questions that they couldn’t answer.
By 15 I was done. The whole thing falls apart if you just examine it close enough.
That was almost 30 years ago.
I live in the South. Being an atheist has NEVER been cool here.

That silly bible that the ignorant hillbillies pretend to refer to as the judge of what is right and wrong contradicts itself too many times to be trusted as any sort of authority on anything.
Which is why they have to be very selective about which parts of it they use to excuse their political leanings.
September 18th, 2010 at 8:51 amOkay, I know I am a little late on this, but I will asnwer first to Tommy, then to Idiot.
I grew up as a Southern Baptist in Texas. I started to question around the age of 18 ( I was a late bloomer, I must admit), after joining a youth group, and had many questions, especially those about homosexuality (I am straight, but had many a bisexual and homosexual friend). I didn’t like the answers I got, and started going to wards deism
This part, Idiot, is also for you.
I joined the Army at 18, and kinda fell back into religion, almost as a coping mechanism for basic training and AIT. About the time I went on my first of three deployments with 10th Special Forces Group (as part of the support team, I am not nor have ever claimed to be a Green Beret, I was, however, attatched to the unit, and did and got a lot of training from Special Forces guys) I again started severely questioning religion, faith, and christianity. I driftd again to deism, then to agnosticism, and finally atheism.
I delt with hostility, persecution and being talked down to by my peers in the Army, everything from trying to convert me, to telling me I was a bad person, and that I was going to hell, and only fooling myself (as well as many of the other cliche christian anti-free thought hate speach).
I got out of the Army last year, after completing three tours of duty with Iraq, and remain a stout humanist, atheist, and liberal.
They say there are no Atheists in fox holes, but i am one of the many living testaments against that. Hell, I jumped out of “perfectly good” planes(See Air force planes piloted by Army pilots). While I did cuss plenty once I was about 50 feet from the ground and realized how fast it was coming up at me, I never prayed or called out to any diety.
Atheists are everywhere. We fight enemies of America, along side christians, muslims, hindu, buhddist, taoist, jewish, pegan, and wiccans, and never give a second thought to what their religion is.
I can say that many of the christians i have encountered and served with can’t say the same.

PS, trollboy, if you’d like to get educated in person, I’ll be playing a gig at the Old Tucker Fountain (supporting some friends) tomorrow from noon til 3. (Don’t worry, pansy, it’s still outside I-285). Perhaps your mom will let you borrow her Gremlin.
September 18th, 2010 at 8:55 amLiberalidiots says:
Actually, hillbillies are usually practicing Christians, like Obama and actually have a code for right and wrong, referred to as the ten commandments.
“Usually” is the operative word here.
Just because there is a system in place for “right and wrong”, that doesn’t automatically give people an out. There are plenty of systems in place for the likes of good living and ethics, but that doesn’t mean people follow it by the letter.
Even the holiest of men and women tend to break a commandment. Find me a perfect human being that can follow every commandment to the letter, and I would call you a liar.
We are not perfect beings.
September 18th, 2010 at 8:56 amthe ten commandments.
Liberal atheists find the code offensive and typically demand their removal from public places.
Sad.
You shall have no other gods before Me.’
So how is an American Hindu supposed to feel, when he goes to court and finds this commandment on the courthouse wall???
September 18th, 2010 at 8:59 amIdiot, I am callin straight bullshit on that, and I know this from personal experience.
Secondly, I defy your attempts at defaming me OR my military career. You want to talk Military, I can back up everything I say, I doubt the same for you.
Thirdly, even beyond my personal experience, I can pull up a myriad of articles supporting my claim, of atheists being mistreated, verbally abused, and even having officers try to give them article 15s for holding and attending an atheist group in Iraq.
Want to try me, goober?

Yet…. only a liberal is offended to see the “code” in a public place.
It only takes one liberal to not be offended to prove you wrong.
I don’t mind seeing the Ten Commandments in a public place. Frankly, in a public setting, the meaning behind them is lost, as they become just another monument over time. It’s when people start preaching to me that I must follow it or be faced with an eternal damnation that I start to be offended.
Not all liberals are offended by it. Some are just indifferent to it.

Interesting…
September 18th, 2010 at 9:15 amSarah Palin having taken part in a weird anti-witchcraft Pentecostal ceremony makes her a balance with O’Donnell.
How about a Palin/ODonnell ticket in 2012. Two self-centered women without a clue about history. One who quits every job she starts, and the other who never had a job.
September 18th, 2010 at 9:16 amYes, you didn’t say “all”, LI, but by suggesting that “only a liberal” would take offense, you are basically lumping us all into the same category, as if a random liberal, no matter who it was, would be the only one taking offense at having the Ten Commandments on display.
And do try to pull back on the insults when addressed by people who have not insulted you. It makes you appear immature.
September 18th, 2010 at 9:17 amWow, that is appropriate in any way, shape or form, P Funk.

They believe in a spirit in the sky who fights an eternal battle with a spirit from the “netherworld.” Equal powers in perpetual battle.
Fine, if you believe in action/adventure fairy tales, but running our secular government would be anathema to them.
Who always advocates our so-called our christian values, our ((in their own minds) christian founders, our christian morals, etc.
I shudder to think of the huge step backward they would take the nation. They could appoint Huckabee as Sec. of State and complete their trinity.
Uh, yeah it is, sparky. YOu have to achieve a 60% (which is measured differently depending on your age group) on every event in most conventional units, and usually 80% in special operations units…of course, you would know that if you hadn’t just googled it real quick. Red, the guy who speaks in bold, has been proven in many threads to just ‘make sh*t up.’
P Funk or Mr Pee, is a rehab flunky who wasted away mommy’s money on a failed attempt at a Philosophy degree. He now spends his days irritating people on the magic tubes.
I wouldn’t take either one of them too seriously.
September 18th, 2010 at 9:29 amP Funk- Your statement has no basis, ergo, you are making baseless claims, on top of meaningless insults and personal attacks.
Xisthrus- Actually, When ya jump out of airplanes doing static line jumps with the military parachutes (We were using SF-10As’) (and me and a fellow soldier did the math on this)we hit the ground at about 20-25 miles an hour. That being said, some people suck at running (I ran a 12:45 2 mile) some people have trouble with pushups (I could do about 100 or so in 2 minutes), I just had issues with my core strength, no matter what I did, had trouble with situps.
Of course, I understand you are making a strained personal attack because you have nothing else to attack, but I figured i would make some polite conversation instead.

September 18th, 2010 at 9:30 amScott McAdams(D), It’s All About Alaska
That’s exactly what Jesus said. Feel the Christianista love. Feels just like jihadist love.
Why do Christianistas spend all day hating everybody and everything? Are they training to be terrorist?
September 18th, 2010 at 9:31 amAlpuz- Yeah, i have noticed, but I am killin time till my shift ends. 10 hour shifts suck, but that three day weekend is pretty sweet.
Xisthrus- If that is the case, making personal attacks is a tactic used by the trolls, and really, I think it would be better for us all if we simply didn’t lower ourselves to their level. If not, my previous statement stands as a testament (lolirony?) and hope of my fellow progressives and liberal commenters to rise above.

September 18th, 2010 at 9:33 amKnow what else is weird is that people like O’Duhnell here like to sockpuppet God. The call it ‘true believing’
And so the tubesock simpletons here do the same thing with differing monikers. Guess that is ‘true socking’
But that when it comes to something like AGW they claim there isnt enough scientific proof.
Bizarro.
September 18th, 2010 at 9:34 amPaymelin and Oduhnell, IMO, arent true christians as they follow old testament mosaical law. They refer to leviticus who wasnt Jesus at all to rationalize hate for adulterers, gays and sinners in general. The solution is simple. Kill them.
I never saw where Jesus ever said Kill anyone.
September 18th, 2010 at 9:36 amI consider the government of the U.S. as interdicted by the Constitution from intermeddling with religious institutions, their doctrines, discipline, or exercises . . . civil powers alone have been given to the President of the U.S. and no authority to direct the religious exercises of his constituents.

September 18th, 2010 at 9:39 amFunny Thing, lil’ buddy, I can back up my claims, you made a very…very obvious mistake and then tried to support it by stating a gain (as if repitition makes right).
But regardless, I, as I stated previously, can back up my claim. You, however, seem to have nothing but ad hominim personal attacks on everyone.
If you are going to be a troll, atleast be useful, or have some backing support to your claims/views.
You are no longer entertaining, and no longer worth wasting time replying to anymore.

September 18th, 2010 at 9:39 amA blob-like creature [they HATE sit-ups absolutely HATE them!] that lived in the ocean approximately 425 million years ago was revealed in research published today.
The scientists developed a detailed 3D model of the only known fossilized specimen in the world of a creature called Drakozoon. The specimen was found by one of the team approximately 6 years ago in the Herefordshire Lagerstätte, one of England’s richest deposits of soft-bodied fossils that dwelled in pools of their own bodily fluids.
September 18th, 2010 at 9:41 amSoft bodied blobs swilling in urine..and TORYs to boot.
September 18th, 2010 at 9:42 amWell, a thread about witchcraft really brings out the weirdest comments from trolls.
Incoherent. Contradictory. Baseless in fact.
I am convinced that our trolls are all angry, white, fundamentalist, racist, ultra-conservative, belligerent,
September 18th, 2010 at 9:42 amantagonistic, frustrated, bigoted christianists who can’t accept that the last guy nearly collapsed this nation with lies, ignorance, arrogance and greed, and the guy trying to fix it all is black and a Democrat. Two characteristics in one person that they simply cannot abide.
It is really kinda rediculous. I tried doing a metric butt-load of crunches and sit-ups, but could never get above a 95%. I mean, that is nothign to scoff at, but still, it is like i hit a plateu, and couldn’t get any higher.
~Dylan( I am not a fossile! I am a human bean!)

September 18th, 2010 at 9:46 amBut…the Bible (BuyBull) is available in English. How did that happen?
Were the 10 commandments in Hebrew or English? If you love Jesus shouldn’t you be Jewish? Jesus and The Mother Mary were Jewish you know.
Wow… you are dumber than a roll of piss soaked carpet.
September 18th, 2010 at 9:46 amOh the irony of it all! http://whitenoiseinsanity.com/2010/09/18/howie-carr-and-his-christian-listeners-believe-its-not-right-for-their-children-to-volunteer-to-pray-to-anothers-g-d/
September 18th, 2010 at 9:50 amShe’s the perfect Republican woman candidate.
She’s an empty-head, empty vessel which will try anything, do anything, be anything that she is told by others…for the publicity and celebrity it brings her as a self-loathing victim who has no respect for herself as a woman or as a person.
The more of these conservative women we see coming out-of-the-closet, the more we know of the damage that has been done to an entire generation of Religious Right female children. They don’t feel they are smart enough or good enough to have a meaningful professional life. That’s for men.
Even when they stumble upon on a chance to show their potential worth, they quit midway like Palin did afraid they will fail. Never do they have the thought that they could succeed. That was drummed out of their conscience at an early age by male elders.
Worst yet, they feel trapped by their repressed family lives. So they go into politics hoping it gives them the credibility they cannot find within their own social and religious communities. They are unfulfilled sexually and intellectually. They are unsure that they deserve to be happy.
So they strive to become a caricature of what Hillary Clinton really is.
Palin, in a twist of fate, once publicly lamented that she wished she could attract such women as supporters….knowing she lacked the resources to pull it off. Now she doesn’t even try.
I can see why Bill Maher gave O’Donnell exposure. At first he thought she was a joke. Then he realized that she was just as much a victim of conservative oppression as he and other gays are.
She may not have a mean bone in her bone or a coherent thought in her head, but the people who are manipulating her do. Don’t ever underestimate the cunning of the the Aryan Nation types. She will parrot any copy point she is given with flair and make them appear harmless to the unsuspecting.
She maybe damaged goods as a human being, but she is the sort of empty vessel that can create untold damage to whatever she touches. She and the Angles, Bachmanns, and Palins are doing it to the Republican Party now. Even Rove is worried he may not be able to control and stop the lunatic fringe on their Far Right.
This was supposed to be the year of the strong professional woman in the Republican Party like Meg Whitman, Carly Fiorina, and that sex procurer/wrestler empress whom I can’t remember the name of because who wants to remember her.
But instead it’s the year of the dingbat and professional women victims. They so wish they were actually Grizzly Moms.
But in a Great Recession who cares about their problems. Working people have enough of their own because the Republicans don’t really want to fix the destructive economic mechanisms they put in place.
The GOP continues to steadily, slowly beat down the American middle class and our capitalist society…and will use any Religious Right or KKK elements they find to do it. The bigger the victims they can put center stage the better.
September 18th, 2010 at 9:53 amWhy do you HATE Jesus?
September 18th, 2010 at 9:54 amO’DingBat’s revelation that she “dabbled in Witchcraft” then went on a date with a Satanist further underscores the shady 80’s IQ this woman has.
Let me also be clear that just because she is dangerously ignorant and mean spirited does not mean she isn’t an opportunist of the highest order.
It goes without saying that Satanists believe in Christianity. Not Paganism and Witchcraft.
Christians have been getting that wrong since the 1100’s and have the blood on their hands of millions for their efforts.
Sadly, what this does do for O’DingBat is make her a so- called “EXPERT” on Witchcraft in the eyes of the Christian GOP Goober sheep that follow and enable her in droves. Pagans will very likely be the next GOP Goober enemy by Monday morning.
Why? Firstly because of Supreme Enabler Rupert Murdoch and his Fox noise flying moneys who adore O’DingBat.
Second because the Christian GOP Goober Sheep that make up about a 3rd our our electorate in this country, will always ALWAYS favor a Theocrat and their version of GOD over a reasoned, tolerant, fact-based secular society.
I’ll say it again. Facts don’t matter to these Christian GOP/Tea Bag Goober Sheep. They can’t be shamed. They refuse to learn. They feel no sense of or comprehend the depths of the endless hypocrisy they live everyday.
With them It’s the Christian Stupid! Welcome to today’s GOP.
How long do you think it will be before O’DingBat reveals a Lesbian love affair on tape for the next distraction? Fox and Sheep will make her an “expert” on that too.
Clock is running

Dabbled is right. She apparently didn’t stick around long enough to learn that witches don’t have satanic altars.
If she had a “date” on a satanic altar, she was dating a Satanist, not a witch. Of course, now she can always say ‘the devil made me do it!’
Only a lib would make that distinction.
Typical.
In other words, libs know something you don’t know.
You must be one of those “real men of genius” they sing about on commercials:
Mister Agnostic non-church goer guy.
That’s right. You’re bold enough to admit there might be a God, but you’re not going to worship him.
You’d rather spend your Sunday mornings on the couch, watching football and drinking beer.
You lump all religions together because you know better than anybody that all you need to know about God can be found at the bottem of a beer bottle.
So here’s to you, Mister Agnostic non-church goer guy, real man of genius.
September 18th, 2010 at 10:06 am
O’Donnell’s explanation of the need for chastity until marriage: ‘we’re not a slave to our sexuality.’ “We’re not a slave to our sexuality.
Too bad two billion years of evolution says otherwise. How can you possibly expect to supress the strongest drive known in the Animal Kingdom?
Our sexuality is a gift for us to be used in the context of marriage, and we need to support young people in that, and teach them the facts that 12,000 teenagers a day contract sexually transmitted diseases.
And thanks to kooks like you, under the Teabagger Administration of the future, that number will more than double.
And the only way to protect yourself from this is to save sex for marriage, and then to remain in a monogamous, committed marriage.” [CNN, 7/10/97]
Please be sure to share this information with David Vitter, John Ensign, Newt Gingrich, and Mark Sanford.
O’Donnell claimed abstinence-only education has been an ‘incredible success.’ “Overwhelmingly, programs that teach abstinence only have an incredible success rate because you’re not giving them a confused message.” [Hannity & Colmes, 6/6/00]
Just ask Bristol Palin! Also see retort #1 above.
September 18th, 2010 at 10:06 amI like this comment from sandyh:

Sandyh has been VDTd, but what she said and was voted down by Trolls with multiple accounts needs to be repeated:
September 18th, 2010 at 10:13 am
Sandy, I would argue that Palin jumped off the political train when her advisors told her that (a) she could make a pisspot full of cash by doing so, and (b) if she didn’t she risked impeachment by the people of Alaska.
September 18th, 2010 at 10:14 amBy the way,
Long before O’DingBat reveals a Lesbian love affair for Fox & Sheep to spin in their up is down and down is up world,
it is very possible that, just like other sexually repressed self-loathing Christian GOP Goober Sheep, she she was a prostitute or went to one.
It fits the profile of today’s GOP leaders. Especially in the Senate.
Good news for her is that all she has to do is ask any number of GOP heavyweights what to do.
Sen. Diaper Dave Vitter. Sen. Larry “Airport”[ Craig. Mark “Little Boys” Foley. Sen. “I screwed My Best Friends Wife” Ensign. Newt Gingrich.

September 18th, 2010 at 10:35 amLike it or not, a whole host of details about your life are exposed online. And unfortunately, given our outdated laws, your privacy is in bad shape.
There are countless ways to streamline and enhance our lives through the use of electronic technology. We should all be able to take advantage of these advances and, at the same time, be assured that our information will remain private and protected. Unfortunately, the laws established to do just that haven’t been updated since 1986. And the longer they remain out-of-date, the more your privacy is at risk.
Tell Congress to protect your privacy by updating the Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA).

What I think you fail to understand is that some of us are a bit apprehensive about Obama. The reason you get voted down is not because of the inconvenience of your “erudition”, but because you seem intent on rubbing everyone’s nose in it.

I’m late to this party but this is really good. Long before Harry Potter we had Christine the witch who now wants the Christian votes. If the church folks vote for this bimbo liar it’s truly a sad day. This woman lives off of education grants and campaign donations and is clearly insane which makes it understandable why bimbo Sarah likes her. Did Christine ever meet Lord Voltamort? Will she do magic for her supporters?

Baloney! What do Obama’s comments at a thirty-thousand-dollar-a-plate fundraiser have to do with Christine O’Donnell’s idiotic admission that she “dabbled” in witchcraft?

September 18th, 2010 at 11:36 amAs a Neopagan of over 20 years, I can tell you that this is so off the mark, it’s hilarious. Satanism is not Witchcraft. Witchcraft is a modern religious movement that worships nature and the Old Ways. It has nothing to do with worshiping Satan. It sounds like poor little Christine ran into some wannabes who wanted to frighten their parents and took her to the woods to make out on an altar. That has nothing to do with what our religion does. If you want to be truly informed, read up on us, or TALK to us, instead of throwing around rumors and garbage. It is beneath us all to make judgments like this. READ – LEARN – and be open.

George W did the same thing and they lap it up like mother’s milk.
‘Course, Christine’s talk with God apparently didn’t include a need for honesty or payment of debts so she’ll either wind up in the US Senate or jail.

Here’s the problem in my mind Dystopia , these FACTS are never discussed here , despite their obvious poignancy to the discussion and so I find my self in the role ( now that the better progressive posters have left the site as a result of mob rule and ugliness on the part of the new “regulars”) of being the only one here willing to bring them into the dialogue .
You make a fair point, but I’m not certain it’s entirely accurate or fair. The site, after all, is not called ThinkObama. There should be no expectation that anti-Obama sentiments should necessarily be embraced or challenged simply because the site is a progressive site. In order for that to be the case, you would have to assume that Obama is a progressive with seamless affinity for all progressive sentiments, especially those espoused here or in your posts.
Obama is a uniquely American politician. His candidacy, like every other American politician’s candidacy, was aspirational. I knew the minute he won, he would be considered the worst president ever by select groups; namely, his most ardent supporters and his most ardent opposition because he could never live up to all his aspirations and because his aspirations scare the righties to death.
Given how far the country has moved to the right since the mid-seventies, I am satisfied with Obama’s tone. I am aware that Obama has vacated some of his promises, but I knew some of his promises were meant to inspire momentum in a more progressive direction.
I don’t expect to get everything I want today nor do I expect to get everything I want ever. It’s not just about me. I only hope that we use the momentum to build a more progressive future. If abandoning Obama makes sense to you because he has not filled the potential you imputed on him, so be it. I didn’t vote for him, but I will the next time around because I think the direction is better for the country.

I personally think western representative democracy is in trouble, and find a lot of interesting promise in developments in South America. Rather than just shout, you may want to look into that, specifically how Aymaras in Bolivia are organizing themselves.
I reckon you’ll get a lot more energy and positive motivation out of that.

Freeman,
I’m probably going to regret this at some time, but here it goes anyway.
You been told over and over and over that sometimes you do have constructive opinions, but most of the time you continue bit ching endlessly about problems that cannot be solved or addressed at present time.
For instance, you keep on and on and on about how the Health Care Bill is flawed and is far from perfect. Guess what, that is not NEWS and it is not a surprise to anyone and there are plenty of people dissatisfied with it.
Now let me ask you. Would you rather have SOMETHING or NOTHING?
Let me tell you a little personal story. The other night we went out to the mall with plans for Japanese food for dinner later. One of the nephews didn’t tag along in the beginning; he said he would join us at the restaurant. Fine. At the mall, we started eating snacks, candy, cake, soda, ice cream, and so on. By the time we were supposed to have dinner, we were full so we decided to just go for burgers. We called our nephew to let him know of the change in plans and he didn’t sound too happy; he said he rather stay at home if he was not going to have the Japanese food and only a simple burger. Fine.
When we came back home, the kid was bit ching he was hungry and he hadn’t had any dinner, and it was all our fault.
Can you see what you are doing, Freeman?

Good grief! I gather that O’Donnell admits having spent her college years rather vigorously rebelling against her Catholic upbringing — but she really went all out, didn’t she? It would appear that being a party girl just didn’t cut it as far as she was concerned. In all honesty, I can only think of a couple of ways in which she could have possibly rebelled any more fiercely than by choosing to hang out with a group of satanists!
All kidding aside, however…O’Donnell apparently believes (and would have us believe) that all witches are the same when this is not the case. If the ceremonies which O’Donnell claims to remember truly involved blood, then it seems likely that this particular group was following what some call the Left-Hand Path in which the will and desires of the ego are considered paramount regardless of what impact they may have on other people. To the best of my knowledge, based on my own experimentation with Wicca while I was in college, most Wiccans do not use blood as part of their magickal practice. They do carry knives (or athames) but these are not used to cut flesh or shed blood — indeed, they’re seldom used to cut anything but are instead primarily used as a symbol of the masculine aspect and as a focal point for the direction of intentional energy. Of course, the possibility can’t be ruled out that O’Donnell is (for whatever reason) simply making all this up — after all, she didn’t provide much information and what little she did provide is so generic and stereotypical that she could just as easily have picked it out of a book or a movie without having ever encountered a real self-professed witch.

September 18th, 2010 at 3:29 pmWith all due respect, Freeman, could you at least make some effort to address the topic? I agree on principle with some of the things you’re saying, but this is really not the most appropriate place in which to discuss them. You do realize that nearly one-fifth of the posts on this thread so far are yours and that not a single of them is in any way directly germane to the topic at hand? While there may not be a specific rule as such which says that you always have to stay on topic, most people understand that part of being an ethical netizen involves having the courtesy and the respect to contribute something of relevance to the topic when you’re posting on someone else’s site. Completely refusing to do this and attempting to hijack or dominate the thread is neither courteous nor respectful, and I suspect that it’s this behavior and not your perspective which is prompting other people to vote you down. (After all, from what I gather based on some of what you’ve posted so far, isn’t part of your frustration with the Obama administration based on their attempts to continue the control and dominance over the political discourse which started with the Bush administration??? And rightly or wrongly, the fact is that they’re in charge here in this country and therefore have the power to dictate policy — whereas you are not in charge of this site and therefore do not have that power.)
Personally, I think that Ralph had a helpful suggestion — instead of complaining about the fact that this blog is not addressing the points which you consider important (when you’re not the one who’s in charge), why not start your own blog where you can cover these issues to your heart’s content?
September 18th, 2010 at 4:06 pmIf she practices Witchcraft she will fit right in with all the other Satanists in Washington. She can hang with George W., Bill and Hillary, Obama and various criminals at Bohemian Grove.
To think that she could be nominated, and she was probably a better choice than the other GOP stooge running. But what do you expect when 68% of the American people said picking people randomly out of the phone book would create a less corrupt, more competent Congress than what we currently have now? Unfortunately those 68% of the people are correct.
September 18th, 2010 at 4:18 pmFreeman, We don’t apologize for overthrowing another nation and installing a dictator. We just the bomb the crap out of that nation and kill the dictator when he begins to annoy us. Of course we kill innocent civlians too (those pesky drone aircraft and inaccurate bunker busting bombs!!). Look at Iraq and Saddam Hussein. Spent 20 million to help him take over Iraq. Let a decade or two go by and then spent 50 Billion to blow Iraq to smithereens. The guess what? The American middle class gets to pay for an Unconstitutional War they didn’t want it the first place. And no one is at fault because the GOP blames it on the Dems and the Dems blame it on the GOP. Nifty little shell game the makers of military might and the banking cartels have.

September 18th, 2010 at 6:19 pmInteresting pickle this girl is in… if she goes on the news programs and she is asked about it, then she could say she was just making it up to get attention on a national TV program (which I suspect is the case) which would lessen her credibility.
But if she admits that she actually participated in something like this at all, then I am not sure that Palin’s pastor that drove the witch out of African village or even Palin herself would approve for that matter…
And of the pagans and witches that I have met through the years, not a one says that they go to the forest and dance around naked in the moonlight or stuff like that… that stuff seems to be all imaginary stereotypical BS.

For the most part, I agree. In fact, in my honest opinion, just because someone professes to be a Christian does not automatically mean that they aren’t following the Left-Hand Path — and just for the record, speaking as someone who was raised in a very liberal Protestant denomination, I can think of a couple of New Testament passages which back this up.
I suspect that one of the things which drew O’Donnell to the group of whom she speaks and which eventually drew her back into evangelical Christianity is the element of and emphasis on control. In my opinion (even though I very much doubt that they could ever acknowledge this consciously, even in the privacy of their own thoughts) this is one thing which a large number of fundamentalist Christians seem to have in common with those who follow the Left-Hand Path — both have a consuming urge to dominate other people. The difference as I see it is that those who follow the Left-Hand Path actually have more integrity because they consciously recognize this urge within themselves and acknowledge it openly — but the fundamentalist Christians vehemently deny that they have any such urges, and usually either attribute them to other people or rationalize it by saying that they’re just doing it for the other person’s own good (when neither the other person nor anyone else gave them the right to make that decision).
That being said, I chose not to become a Wiccan because based on my experience, those who follow the Right-Hand Path are not completely free from the desire to control and manipulate others either — but I also recognize that this is a fault in human nature rather than with Wicca itself. “An ye harm none, do what thou wilt” is not such a bad maxim — but the problem as I see it is that good intention, unfortunately, isn’t always enough to produce good action and just because you think you aren’t harming anyone doesn’t mean that you aren’t (which is why we have the Law Of Unintended Consequences).

I have been into witchcraft in one form or another for the past decade, and have yet to ever seen an altar with blood on it, and yes I have been to a “Black Mass”. Also just so people do understand this within Wicca and contemporary witchcraft each practitioner is called a witch without regard to gender. Just my $.02

Personally, the fact that O’Donnell apparently experimented with the Left-Hand Path while she was in college doesn’t bother me at all. As I said before, I think people who consciously pursue the Left-Hand Path actually have more integrity than those who are pursuing it without even being aware of it because they acknowledge their desire to dominate and manipulate others. I don’t think that ethics and integrity are necessarily one and the same — I think it’s possible to be an ethical person without integrity (if you reason for being ethical is primarily fear of punishment), and I think it’s possible for an unethical person to have integrity (if they acknowledge their own lack of ethics but feel little guilt or shame over it). However, I very much doubt that someone who was openly pursuing the Left-Hand Path could ever be elected to public office since the motives of such a person would be antithetical to the principles on which this nation was founded. (Granted, we’ve got a lot of people like that in Washington right now but none of them would ever dare admit openly that they’re serving themselves instead of us and they might not even realize it themselves.)
No…what does bother me about O’Donnell is her own inability to perceive just how ignorant, insecure, and power-mad she really is (not to mention how emotionally disturbed she might be) as well as her apparent reluctance to educate herself and her eagerness to pass her ignorance off as fact. For some time now, it’s been my firm belief that those who think they know it all and don’t need to ask any more questions are the people who should be avoided.
September 18th, 2010 at 7:42 pmTwo observations:
1) What a great move by Bill Maher. He didn’t air this video footage of Christine O’Donnell on Politically Incorrect until after O’Donnell beat Castle in the Republican’s Delaware primary.
2) Did the Republican Party (either the establishment Republicans or Teabaggers) vet Christine O’Donnell thoroughly? Neither the Republican establishment (Castle’s campaign) nor the Teabaggers backing O’Donnell appear to have known about O’Donnell’s Politically Incorrect appearance nor her “I dabbled into witchcraft” statement.
Still, Bill Maher airing this after the primary was masterful and may help beat back the ultra-wingnut Teabagger candidates around the country, just adding another dimension (and talking point) to how crazed these fringe Republicans really are…and how dangerous their brand of Republicanism is to our democracy and the future of our nation’s children.

This is a problem? Isn’t “Wiccan” a legitimately recognized religion by the U.S. gub’mint??
My, my. There’s a a lot of intolerance and bigotry from you progressive thinkers.

September 18th, 2010 at 10:03 pmI rememberr her from the old PI in the 90s. I think she is more attractive than Palin by far – in a purely asthetic sense, but actually even dumber.I always thought she was a protestant fundie, not Catholic. It kind of explains her celebacy – google beata.
September 18th, 2010 at 10:50 pmTrue believers avoid pesky things like facts. This will give her supporters an opportunity to paint her as a victim of the media. Soon the House will be filled with these loons. We are screwed.

C’mon, LB…most of the people here aren’t down on O’Donnell for “dabbling in witchcraft”. You know that as well as we do, so stop blowing smoke — although perhaps I shouldn’t expect anything else from someone who goes by the handle “LocomotiveBreath” (since locomotives typically do produce a lot of smoke)!
No…a lot of the people on this site are down on O’Donnell because she’s presenting herself as some sort of authority on witchcraft when she’s clearly not and implying that all kinds of witches are alike when this is not true. In much the same way that many of the world’s other religions do, witchcraft comes in more than one flavor (so to speak). An Orthodox Jew and a Reform Jew ostensibly believe in the same God and honor the same religious text, but that doesn’t mean that they act exactly alike — nor do a Nazarene and a United Methodist, even though both are Christians. In fact, there’s even more variety within the general category of “witchcraft” since this technically covers a range of different belief systems including both the Right-Hand Path (such as Wicca) and the Left-Hand Path (such as Satanism). As I pointed out in an earlier post, if O’Donnell is telling the truth about the group with which she was involved (and personal recall is often faulty), they were almost certainly pursuing a Left-Hand Path tradition since the Right-Hand Path does not typically use blood in their ceremonial practice.

What is she like 15 there brother shes a witch like Bill Maher is a comedian or has any talent, He is just a scared bitter aging wannabe. Keep it up running scared I love it.
September 19th, 2010 at 5:08 amI dabbed into witchcraft when I was younger.
Though my dabbing didn’t involve any blood, it did involve a guy who sold advertisement ideas to clients who later looked different than he did initially, a nosy next door neighbor, a mischievous cousin , uncle and mother and eventually a pretty little girl and later a handsome young boy.
I will admit that I don’t recall them worshipping satan, but that my have been obscured in the comedy for all I know.
September 19th, 2010 at 7:22 amTo #6 response – no male Witches aren’t “warlocks”, they’re just Witches. Maybe she dated a Voodoo priest, they sometimes use live chickens etc? Don’t know where the idea of ‘blood’ would come from except in the perverted fundamentalist Christian mindscape with its sacrifice of the innocent to atone for the sins of the guilty.
This woman is simply an ignoramus and so are all her fans.

Wow, try finding something of substance on her as an adult..not a teenager. Everyone does stupid things as a teen.
September 19th, 2010 at 12:46 pmThey are all running scared Maher, (chills up my leg)Mathews.NBC,CBS and more than anyone Obama. The satinists are the Obama followers and Obama IS Satan. The guy from your high school special class could do better.
September 19th, 2010 at 3:01 pmI still dont get where they come up with comedian when refering to Bill Maher Ive watched all kinds of video clips and I dont see funny in any of them, Plenty of stupid. But no funny.
To #304 response – ummmmm, it was O’Donnell who while an adult told the world about this alleged episode with a ’satanic witch’ and about dabbling in ‘witchcraft’. I’d agree we shouldn’t bring up to older people silliness they partook of in their youth but she’s citing this crap herself and demonstrating extreme ignorance in the doing of it as an adult.
