Midweek Video: Bang Bang Bang live on Letterman

1 Contributions
I will admit I first flipped on Letterman and this performance was just starting my first reaction was "Geez, look at that she-hipster" in regards to MNDR... but then I listened to the song, and I loved it.

In fact, after that performance, the studio version is sort of disappointing to me.

And you thought the Garfield and Marmaduke Movies Were Bad

1 Contributions
Just when you thought that comic strip based movies couldn't get any worse, there is news out of Hollywood that yes, Family Circus is going to be made into a live-action movie.

Who asked for this movie? I mean, who demanded it? Yes, it is a popular comic, but that doesn't mean it is good.

I think a particular scene from the movie Go got to the heart of why the comic is so widely read.

Todd Gaines: You read your paper and you're enjoying your two-page comic spread. And there's The Family fucking Circus, bottom right corner, just waiting to suck. And that's the last thing you read, so it spoils everything you read before it.

Claire: You could just not read it

Todd: I hate it and yet I am uncontrollably drawn to it

I mean, it certainly isn't even going to be Dennis the Menace.

My question is, how many people are actually going to see this movie because they want to and not for ironic reasons.

Express Checkout: T-Bag, O'Donnell, Die Hard, King of Fighters

- The producers of the upcoming A&E;'s Breakout Kings (who just happen to be the former producers of Prison Break) want to cast Robert Knepper on their new show. And they want him to play his former character, Theodore "T-Bag" Bagwell. My interest in this show just rose exponentially.

- I've heard a rumor that Christine O'Donnell's senate campaign is aimed not towards her winning that particular seat, but another one: Fox News employee. I would totally buy that. I am not saying that it is true, but given some of the other politicians who, after losing an election, have ended up there, it wouldn't surprise me if that was at least an established fallback position for O'Donnell. (And as a side note, given her puritanical attitudes and statements in the present and past, I am sure if a sex tape was to surface featuring her, it would be a huge seller).

- So there is a CGI sequel to Starship Troopers and 2 more Die Hard movies in the works. Boo to the former and maybe, maybe a yes! to the latter. It depends on who is writing those sequels and if they are going to be PG-13 or Restricted.

- I watched the King of Fighters movie last week, and while it was bad (though not The Legend of Chun-Li bad, as you would expect a video game based movie to be, it did manage to capture just how brutal SNK Bosses are in film form. I think that is something most movies based on fighting games tend to miss.

My 8Track Station

1 Contributions
While I had some time over the weekend, I thought it would be fun to put together a playlist on 8track.

So far I have about 70 songs on it, so there should be a lot of variety.

I don't know if it is going to play in this window, but if it doesn't, it should still link to my station.

There are also quite a few tracks from my podcasts too. So why not check it out?

Sunday Video: Robogeisha

It is like someone showed the Grindhouse trailers to the director of The Machine Girl and he said to himself, yeah, I can totally top that with a movie of my own.

I thought I saw some bare breasts in this, so it may not be safe for work. It is definitely not safe for sanity.

That was just insane. And now I have to seek this out for my own viewing.

Week 22: Pageant of the Transmundane

A man has postponed getting a pacemaker installed just so he can watch the upcoming Michigan/Michigan St. game. As I live in the area, the coverage has been excessive to say the least, and I think that is a weird decision on that individuals part. And I love college football.

Anyway, this week's winning entry comes to us from Pacroid, a video game blog, and one which has been around for a while.

Today, they posted a video which asked the question: what if Jersey Shore was an SNES RPG. The results are hilarious.

And since this week's winning entry had to do with being at a dance club at some point, I thought this image from the episode Three Gays of the Condo would be the most appropriate.

Congrats Josh. Here is your badge.

The rules of this little contest: Every week I will be selecting one blog post that I have seen from the vast reaches of the blogging village to bestow with the Homer Simpson Transmundanity Award for being one of the freakiest(in a funny way) things I've seen or read during a 7 day period. It doesn't necessarily have to have been written during the week, I just had to have encountered it. That means that if you find something interesting and repost it like a movie or whatever, if I saw it at your blog first, you get the prize. Of course, creating your own content is also a very good way to win.

This is not a meme. This is an award that I give out, and thus, I am not "tagging" you.

Now, if you see a post that you think is worthy of this illustrious prize, just drop me a line at campybeaver@gmail.com and we'll see if we can't get your suggestion up and award-ready while giving you some credit and a link to your own blog.

What Mike Myers Should Do

5 Contributions
When I heard that Mike Myers was going to be tackling another cartoon creation in his next film (Pepe Le Pew), I immediately knew it was a bad idea. Yes, it is likely won't be as bad as one of the projects Eddie Murphy has been doing as of late, but it will still be pretty bad (as The Cat in the Hat likely demonstrates).

It got me to thinking... what would rehabilitate Mike Myers in my mind. What could he possibly do that could make me like him again.

Then it hit me: he should do an semi-autobiographical one man show like John Leguizamo did. I mean, before I saw Freak and Sexaholix... A Love Story, I didn't really like him, but now, I appreciate him for the talented individual he is and his struggle as an actor.

Does he still make some duds? Yes. But I can see them for what they are.

And it isn't like Myers wouldn't have a lot of material to draw from for such a project. I mean, there is getting his start in Canada, his movie career, his family. There is a lot of areas he could mine.

But the motherlode would have to be his time on SNL. Are you telling me that people would go to see him discuss some of his experiences on that show in a candid and entertaining manner. And I am sure a lot of people would watch such a performance on HBO too. I know I would.
