Wilmington Train Station begins using its temporary station today while the old station gets an interior makeover.
WDEL's Erica Guidetti has the details. Video Here
Wilmington Station was built in 1907 and designed by renowed architect Frank Furness.
The station is listed on the National Register of historic places so during the
course of renovation special care will be taken to maintain Furness' Victorian style.
Station Master Ron Edwards says the building needs major improvement.
While improvements are being made, a temporary station will be located on the corner
of Martin Luther King Blvd. and Walnut Street.
Edwards says all services riders are used to will still be available.
Amtrak anticipates the temporary station will be used through December of 2010.
Amtrak is encouraging riders to add more travel time to and from the station.
A man is dead after a stabbing in New Castle early this morning.
State police say it happened just before 1 a.m. in the 3000 block of New Castle
Avenue. Police say a 19-year-old woman and her brother, 29-year-old Miguel Gomez, went
looking for the woman's boyfriend and found him at the Gold Club in Wilmington. The
boyfriend was with two friends from New Castle.
The two parties started arguing, and the boyfriend, the woman and Gomez left and
drove to the McDonalds in the 3000 block of New Castle Avenue. The friends of the
boyfriend followed, and a fight started. Police say one of the friends, a 25-year-old,
pulled out a knife. Gomez ran, but the man with the knife chased him and stabbed him in
the chest. He died later at the hospital.
The 25-year-old later turned himself in to police. Charges are pending at this time.

Delaware health officials say swine flu vaccinations for public school students should be completed by the end of February.
About 50,000 students are expected to get the vaccine through the program, which began
in early November.
That's about 40 percent of pupils statewide.
Dr. Karyl Rattay, director of Delaware's Division of Public Health, says the program
was without precedent in the state's
history. She says it slowed the spread of the disease.
The health department continues to urge people to get vaccinated against the H1N1
flu virus, even though the activity level in Delaware is low. Rattay says the virus
"could easily return"
At least six families have filed lawsuits against a Delaware pediatrician accused of sexually abusing his patients and the hospital where he once practiced.
There are no victims named in any of the lawsuits, and they offer almost no details
beyond alleging that the plaintiffs were
patients of Dr. Earl Bradley and were assaulted by him.
Attorney Bruce Hudson says more defendants are likely to be added and more cases
filed. Bradley currently faces 29 felony
counts for allegedly abusing nine children, but officials have said there may be as many
as 100 victims.
Five of the six lawsuits were filed last week.
They allege that Bradley abused children between the ages of 2 and 7 on numerous
occasions.
All were filed by the same attorneys, Hudson and Ben Castle.
The price at the pump fell last week, responding to a drop in the cost of crude oil.
Delaware motorists saw the cost of a gallon of unleaded regular fall by four cents by
week's end, to a statewide average of $2.63.
That's according to Triple A Mid Atlantic.
Auto club spokesperson Cathy Rossi says if crude oil continues to trade at its
current level, drivers can expect to be saving a few more pennies a gallon when fueling
up in the coming week.
She says motorists in South Jersey and the five-county Philadelphia area saw similar
fuel cost reductions last week.
