Swine flu shots in DE schools ending

By: Associated Press

Delaware health officials say swine flu vaccinations for public school students should be completed by the end of February.
About 50,000 students are expected to get the vaccine through the program, which began in early November. That's about 40 percent of pupils statewide.

Dr. Karyl Rattay, director of Delaware's Division of Public Health, says the program was without precedent in the state's

history. She says it slowed the spread of the disease.

The health department continues to urge people to get vaccinated against the H1N1 flu virus, even though the activity level in Delaware is low. Rattay says the virus "could easily return"

By: Jim Hilgen

A DelDot plow truck overturned on northbound 95 around Route 141 Sunday morning.
The accident happened shortly before 9:30.

State police spokesman Corporal Bruce Harris says the truck was attempting a u-turn at a crossover when its load of salt shifted.

He says that shifting load caused the truck to flip over onto its side.

Two right lanes on northbound 95 were closed about a mile north of the 495 split while crews worked to upright the vehicle.

Corporal Harris says the truck's driver was taken to Christiana Hospital with minor injuries.

Lawsuits are filed against DE Pediatrician

By: Associated Press

At least six families have filed lawsuits against a Delaware pediatrician accused of sexually abusing his patients and the hospital where he once practiced.
There are no victims named in any of the lawsuits, and they offer almost no details beyond alleging that the plaintiffs were

patients of Dr. Earl Bradley and were assaulted by him.

Attorney Bruce Hudson says more defendants are likely to be added and more cases filed. Bradley currently faces 29 felony

counts for allegedly abusing nine children, but officials have said there may be as many as 100 victims. Five of the six lawsuits were filed last week.

They allege that Bradley abused children between the ages of 2 and 7 on numerous occasions. All were filed by the same attorneys, Hudson and Ben Castle.

Area gas prices dip

By: Jim Hilgen

The price at the pump fell last week, responding to a drop in the cost of crude oil.
Delaware motorists saw the cost of a gallon of unleaded regular fall by four cents by week's end, to a statewide average of $2.63.

That's according to Triple A Mid Atlantic.

Auto club spokesperson Cathy Rossi says if crude oil continues to trade at its current level, drivers can expect to be saving a few more pennies a gallon when fueling up in the coming week.

She says motorists in South Jersey and the five-county Philadelphia area saw similar fuel cost reductions last week.
