Republicans Deny 9/11 Heroes Medical Care, But Won't Make Wealthy Help Pay for the GOP Twin Tower Wars

THE REPUBLICANS IN CONGRESS
As we noted in our BuzzFlash Wings of Justice Award to Anthony Weiner for lambasting the House GOP for denying medical funding and aid to 9/11 responders, the Republicans have no shame in their greed-driven hypocrisy. After all, the Bush Administration and Republicans drove us into two wars and a national state of hysterical fear over 9/11, playing the "patriotic card" at every turn.
Bush, whose administration was asleep at the wheel when warned in advance of possible Al Qaeda hijackings, became a media hero when he went to Ground Zero and hugged and praised the 9/11 responders. But as usual, the GOP uses emotional issues and manipulation of fear to loot the country, not to save it. To paraphrase the long-gone comedian Fred Allen, you can take all the sincerity in the Republican Party and put it in a flea's navel and still have room left over for a caraway seed and Dick Cheney's heart.
The goal of the Republican Party is to maintain exorbitant tax cuts for the super-wealthy and favor corporations and the finance industry over the welfare of middle, working class and poor Americans. That's it: there's really nothing more to their ideology than greed. They'll use coded racism, manipulation of the white middle class, and any dirty trick that they can get their hands on to achieve that singular goal.
So to betray the 9/11 responders in the name of deficit reduction is just another act of grossly harmful hypocrisy that belies seven years of the GOP terrifying Americans about 9/11 and holding up the first responders as national heroes. It was all just more Republican emotional cover for looting the treasury.
The GOP on Capitol Hill doesn't believe in the welfare of the American citizenry; their religion is the gospel of personal enrichment for the few and the privileged.
They don't give a hoot about the health and needs of the 9/11 responders because they are "nobodies" since they can't afford big campaign contributions, and they must be failures because they aren't millionaires.
The Republicans led the way in spending hundreds of billions of dollars on the 9/11 wars, and continue to do so. But they denied the people who did the toxic work of saving lives on 9/11 basic health assistance and benefits.
That's some hypocriscy. It's enough to make you puke.

In the kind of environment
In the kind of environment that we have right now,all we need to do is to be aware of every thing that's happening around us.I do believe that we still need to learn many things in life. Our Mother Nature is indeed dying for help.Just like what happened in the Gulf of Mexico. The BP Macondo well was supposed to have a “static kill” happen to it on Monday. Bonnie delayed the static kill from happening about one week until static kill was done on day 100 of the Gulf of Mexico 2010 oil spill. The “bottom kill” is scheduled to happen after the static kill puts mud into the well to stop it. BP and government officials are confident that one or both kills can be the beginning of the end of the worst oil leak in America's history before peak hurricane season.
Only Republicans to blame
I agree with the Democrats decision to not allow amendments. The Republicans should have voted yes on just the issue of helping the 911 responders. Why should any amendment be attached to that bill? Anthony Weiner was right-yes or no on health for the heroes. The Republicans should not be allowed to give on one hand and take away something on the other-which is what their amendments would have done. Sometimes congress needs to be allowed to vote on a clean bill.
Republican patriotism
A simple check of those mealy mouthed Republicans who spout off about our brave troops in harm's way gives the lie to their concern about those brave troops. Check to see how many of those phony patriotism spouters vote against bills that would help our wounded troops. If it is not a hot issue, well publicized they vote against those helpful bills. If it is a hot well-publicized issue they trot out their leaders with the flags in their lapels voting for something they were against. Check the military records of most of those flag wearing leaders and you find that most of them ducked serving in the military in their generation's war. And mind you many of them were in favor of their generation's war.... unless they had to serve.
911 heroes
Michael Moore's movie, Fahrenheit 911, showed the 911 heroes, how Cuba was happy to give them treatment but the US Government would not. The 911 hero went to the pharmacy in Cuba and bought the same aerosol cannister for $1 that cost her $100 in the USA.
Maybe some of you here didn't approve of Fahrenheit 911, because it didn't mention the evidence about the Mossad or about how the planes were really missiles. There hasn't been an investigation, Henry Kissinger was going to head it, after Bush finally gave in after a year of saying it would distract our intelligence agencies, Henry Kissinger withdrew his name because he had Saudi clients he didn't want to reveal that he said weren't conflicts of interest, then Bush stonewalled the commission, the commission didn't get hardly any money, even the Republican chair of the commission said it wasn't a real investigation. What about the FBI agents who were connecting the dots that nobody was listening to? Bush was on a 3 month vacation, Ashcroft quit flying commercial, Bush had a CIA brief titled Bin Laden Determined to Strike Inside the USA, you had Rumsfeld's bizarre announcements September 10, you had the patriot act pre-written, what about the anthrax killings, first they said it was Iraqi anthrax, the USA was supposedly not developing anthrax, the lid was blown off that, you had Clintons team trying to get Bush to transition onto Bin Laden, Conservatives were all about Star Wars and downplaying other threats, the PNAC document talking about another Pearl Harbor, and Bush saying don't investigate 911 because it would distract and point fingers. If a forklift goes off a pier there is a real investigation.

Democrats must share the blame & responsibility for the failure to pass the legislation as well as the wars.
The Democrats who control the House of Representatives could have simply passed the legislation by a simple majority vote, but risked Republicans adding "poison pill" amendments, so the Dems used a procedure which prevented any amendments but then required a 2/3 majority to pass instead of a simple 51% majority. So both parties played politics with the lives of the first responders, given the upcoming elections.
Most Democrats still continue to vote to fund the Bush/Cheney wars, and Obama has chosen to escalate in Af/Pak while keeping at least 50,000 U.S. soldiers, more than 100,000 contractors, the world's largest embassy compound/fortress, and many huge permanent U.S. bases in Iraq. So these wars are now the Democrats' wars as well.
Both major parties NEVER question the need for the global U.S. Empire of bases in more than 130 countries and fleets on every ocean. The U.S. "right" to world hegemony and "policing" (intimidating) the rest of the world is simply accepted by 99% of Congress and most US citizens.
BuzzFlash should stop being so biased toward Democrats. Both major parties are two wings of the Corporatist-Militarist Ruling Class which depends on brutal military power at home (tasers, sonic cannons, "fre-speech zones", use of Blackwater mercenaries in New Orleans, NorthCom command) and abroad for its continued wealth and dominance.
Definition of Republicans
Excellent description of the Republicans. Too bad the whole country won't see this. This article should be in every local newspaper across the country.
There's just one slight inaccuracy, when you say the Bush Administration "...was asleep at the wheel when warned in advance of possible Al Qaeda hijackings".
There's evidence the administration AT LEAST knew about the attacks in advance: After it became apparent the US was under attack, THE SECRET SERVICE LET PRESIDENT BUSH REMAIN AT HIS PUBLICALLY-KNOWN LOCATION.
If they didn't know about the attacks, they'd have to assume a plane might be heading for Bush's location, and they'd get him to safety. But it was all arranged in advance, and they KNEW Bush was in no danger, so they let him stay there and read My Pet Goat.
(While we're on the topic of advance knowledge, there are news clips of reporters announcing the collapse of Building 7 while it was still standing!. Folks, we've been had!)
