If Fox Fraudcasting is the Television Voice for the American Corporate-Sponsored Taliban, Glenn Beck is Mullah Omar

BuzzFlash has repeatedly warned of the danger for violence and death that the right wing media echo chamber is inciting -- along with a large number of Republican politicians and the corporate-Dick Armey backed creation of the Tea Party.  Dana Milbank of the Washington Post recently noted Beck's likely relationship to a man with an arsenal of guns who got into a shoot out with Oakland police, but whose real target were people who worked for the ACLU and the Tides Foundation.

If you stopped for a moment in puzzlement as to what the Tides Foundation is, you would join most Americans.  Those of us who have dealt with non-profit funders of progressive causes know the Tides Foundation as a great financial backer, almost an incubator, of liberal organizations. It is akin to a link in a potential infrastructure of progressive foundations, think tanks and media that could counteract what has so successfully been built on the right.  However, it's not high profile like the American Enterprise Institute or the Heritage Foundation (the favorite right wing think tanks of Bush and Cheney), and is located in San Francisco, not D.C.

So why would a tea party type set out, locked and loaded with guns the NRA would slobber over, to assassinate leaders of a relatively obscure Foundation of importance to progressives? Well, Glenn Beck is probably the answer, since -- according to Media Matters -- he has recently mentioned the Tides Foundation on his show 29 times!

In the past year, BuzzFlash has at times reported on a number of shootings in which the shooter was found to be a devoted watcher of FOX Fraudcasting or a reader of books by right wing "celebrity" purveyors of emotionally inciting propaganda.  What's important to emphasize again is that the Manchurian Candidates that FOX Fraudcasting is manipulating through an appeal to emotional victimhood has already resulted in domestic deaths and injuries.  While we lose thousands of American lives fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan allegedly against terrorists, our mainstream corporate media and politicians treat FOX as a legitimate member of the "news media," rather than as an inciter of domestic terrorism.

Fortunately, the Oakland shooter didn't kill anyone, although he wounded two police officers.  But others have died as a result of the domestic terrorists that FOX Fraudcasting and Glenn Beck have emotionally lit a match to by providing them with a daily diet of virulent falsehoods.

It's easy to dismiss Beck as a buffoon, but he knows exactly what he is doing, and -- as the Oakland shooter shows -- he's very effective at what he does.

But, of course, so was Al-Qaeda on 9/11.

The difference is we have targeted Osama bin Laden for years, but Glenn Beck is treated as a television celebrity as he ignites the domestic terrorists among us.

For that he deserves more than a Media Putz Award from BuzzFlash, he deserves to be tried for treason and as a threat to our lives and our national security.
