If you're a billionaire, people are always asking for a few bucks. Now, Bill Gates and Warren Buffett have launched the Giving Pledge, asking billionaires to publicly promise they will give half of their bread to philanthropic causes. Buffett himself pledged to donate "a whopping 99 percent of his wealth, saying the remaining 1 percent is more than enough to live comfortably," according to Mediaite. Sigh. How can an inspirational story be so depressing? About 40 have signed up to start, including George Lucas, Michael Bloomberg, Ted Turner, Larry Ellison, Barry Diller and cable TV mogul Gerry Lenfest, who, with his wife, explains "we do not want to give excessive wealth to our progeny." Deal Journal lists ultra-rich-wankers-you-never-heard-of in the financial manipulation business who have joined the list, and names a few chumps who haven't (i.e. "Lloyd Blankfein, Goldman Sachs Group CEO, though he probably wouldn't even qualify for the list, as his compensation totaled a "mere" $137 million in the past five years.")

Bloggers are buzzing about last night's season 4 premiere of Mad Men, and the creation of the new ad agency, Sterling, Cooper, Draper, and Pryce (SCDP). Don Draper is no longer living with Betty, but "even in an apartment, Don has a maid," points out Unlikely Words. "Last night's episode found Draper and his team struggling to craft their new image, outmaneuver larger firms, and execute on all the other details that a small business needs to survive," says Business Insider, listing five small business lessons from the new season of the series. Don't Eat the Shrimp has lessons for people working in PR: "Don Draper is serving as the 'face,' of the agency. He's out doing interviews with trade publications and isn't happy about it. The best spokesperson isn't always the first pick. If someone isn't up to the task, find a better face. Roger Sterling has incredible one-liners, but I don't think he's the face you want, and Bert Cooper isn't exactly friendly. Lane Pryce might be the man here."
