It appears to be a clear case of hypocrisy justified by the sins of the past religious leaders. A hypocrite acts in a way contrary to what they profess to be true or believe. The Jews enforced the law of the Torah, it resulted in followers with out faith or as we say a hypocrite. When the Christians enforced the laws of the new testament it resulted in followers with out faith, or as we say hypocrites. When the Muslims enforce their laws, it will result in the same, .... hypocrites.. Time after time the wave of apostasy and hypocrites have bought death and destruction, upon man kind. . If the Muslim’s way... is not the idea of Love and peace at its critical mass, (when they have achieved there domination of a land) , then is an apostate religion of hypocrites.

So if you are thinking logical about this, figure out which group/family/government/tribe offers you the most power, weigh their offer against all the other offers, and accept or decline. The mercenaries and soldiers will profit as the tribes go to war against each other for power. There really is no "us" or "we", it's everybody grabbing what piece of the pie they can grab. The mercenaries who fight were once the knights of the middle ages, and the reason that some of these knights controlled so much money is because while the churches were creating holy wars against other forms of Christianity or against Islam, the warrior caste learned how to fight for whichever side paid them better. This allowed the warrior caste to become wealthy.

This is also what allowed the USA to become wealthy. The USA has a history of being the warrior caste of the western world. Whenever Europe or other NATO countries want to stop certain other countries or other groups from taking control of the middle east or natural resources, it's always the USA that is paid to go and fight the wars, build the weapons, and generally take the vast majority of the PR damage. Even in this case with Germany we can see that the Germans just want to pay Americans to do all the dirty work for them so they can keep their hands clean and look like they don't endorse these wars.

Understand the the USA is only a superpower and only economically great because of World War 2 and because we are great warriors. Germany and the rest of Europe, China and all the other countries don't really need any other service or product from us besides our weapons and our soldiers. So it's not like the USA is in the best position here, and it's not like the USA should take all the blame. The USA is in the position of mercenary army for the Europeans who haven't really fought any wars for the last 30+ years if not longer. When was the last time Germany fought a war?
