Starting in 1996, Alexa Internet has been donating their crawl data to the Internet Archive. Flowing in every day, these data are added to the Wayback Machine after an embargo period.
I'm planning on developing this slowly and carefully, and then letting a small number of people use it, people who communicate very well about their needs and give great bug reports. Then, again, slowly, I'm going to improve the software in response to how people are using it.
I'm going to try to choose people who are local, in NY, because it helps enormously to be able to see how they're using it, and to communicate face-to-face on a regular basis. I've found it very difficult to do development with people spread all over the planet, at least in the early stages of product development.
I've learned from experience that if you do things very fast you get an unsatisfactory result. My goal here is to create an excellent tool that's a great fit for people who are serious about writing for this relatively new medium.
