Sarah Palin's Foreign Policy Manifesto: Brought To You By Facebook

The Huffington Post   |  Nick Wing & Erin Booth First Posted: 07- 4-10 11:19 AM   |   Updated: 07- 4-10 11:23 AM

Sarah Palin dropped her lengthy foreign policy manifesto on Facebook last week and we'd like to recap some of the former vice presidential candidate's key points.

Building on a speech that she gave at "Freedom Fest" in Norfolk, Virginia last week, Sarah Palin expressed a hawkish doctrine outlining her sharp disagreement with the Obama Administration on nine key areas of foreign policy.

Palin calls for expanding the nation's naval fleet, eliminating the current withdrawal timetable in Afghanistan, reinforcing unconditional ties with Israel, taking a stronger stance on human rights in countries like Iran and China (while stepping back from diplomacy with "some of the world's worst regimes"), as well as embracing "American exceptionalism" and America's position as "the dominant military superpower."

Some see Palin's manifesto as a sign that she is trying incorporate these positions into the Tea Party platform and perhaps take the lead on foreign policy heading into the 2012 elections.

"In the conservative ranks and within the party, she's really quite a crucial piece in this puzzle," Tom Donnelly, defense fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, told Josh Rogin of Foreign Policy. "She's got both political and Tea Party/small government bona fides, but she also has a lot of credibility in advocating for military strength."

Here are the key points from Palin's Facebook post on foreign policy:

Defense Spending

Palin argues that the Obama administration should "cut spending in other departments- apart from defense." She warns that we must make sure not to "undermine the effectiveness of our military" because "if we lose wars, if we lose the ability to deter adversaries, if we lose the ability to provide security for ourselves and for our allies, we risk losing all that makes America great!"

I challenge every and all hackers to be true patriots, and hack the heck out of Sarah Palin.

I am calling on those true hacker patriots to come together and hack her at every turn.

Well President Palin's domiinant military will have to re-insititue the draft to clean up all the human rights issues and conflicts around the world. Secretary of "Defense First Dude" will finally stop practicing on dear in arial hunts and get to lead some real christian soldiers. Bristol can be the Secretary of Health and Planned Parenthood (heavy velcro to keep everyones legs closed). I guess God opened another door for her. When she finds out what the pay is and that she will have to give up her job on Fox and her realtiy show "the real alaska or sarah's Palin's Alaska she may quickly close that door.

Levi Johnston admits he lied about the Palins

Levi Johnston has admitted in a statement via People magazine that he lied about Sarah Palin and her family in media quotes and magazine interviews:
"Last year, after Bristol and I broke up, I was unhappy and a little angry. Unfortunately, against my better judgment, I publicly said things about the Palins that were not completely true. I have already privately apologized to Todd and Sarah. Since my statements were public, I owe it to the Palins to publicly apologize."

"So to the Palin family in general and to Sarah Palin in particular, please accept my regrets and forgive my youthful indiscretion. I hope one day to restore your trust."
In a highly publicized interview with Vanity Fair last year, Johnston claimed that neither Todd nor Sarah Palin cook, and their children had to prepare their own meals. He claimed that there was "a lot of talk of divorce" in the Palin home, and that Gov. Palin didn't hunt nor know anything about guns.

Common-sense Americans never believed Johnston's anti-Palin nonsense, but gullible leftists who hate Sarah Palin wanted Levi's lies to be true so much that they accepted them as truth without question. Among them, a group of bloggers in Alaska whose entire lives consist of trying to destroy Gov. Palin through the use of lies like those told by Johnston.

Does that explain the wackiness that we see with our own eyes?

Whatever else you say we are, we are not so naive as to believe that Ms. Palin's purported foreign policy manifesto actually consisted of her own writings. We have all heard her speak.
"Word salad" is the description that comes most readily to mind. Disordered, confused speech all too often signals disordered, confused thought processes. For the record, I have been a student of political science for nearly fifty years and in all that time have found little that was attractive about conservatism.

What I love most about these comments is the fact that very few of you actually considered reading Palin's writing yourself. You are complacent and satisfied reading a second-hand, liberally skewed article on a biased website. You are exactly what you rail against. You know nothing of politics except for what you hear on television or read on liberal websites. If you actually understood anything about conservatism-- or any viewpoints other than liberalism-- you might actually find yourself in agreement with some points. Consider being truly open-minded.
SeektheTruth   1 hour ago (10:02 PM)
"Open-mindedness" as you define it would cause one's brain to drop out. There is no other way to explain your cloying support of a stupid, stupid woman.
I'll leave the open-minded approach to mouth-breathers and others who choose to be uneducated. It's time intelligent people stand up and call stupid "stupid."

Nice over-simplification. Have you reached your conclusions because you've met us all personally or are you depending Palin's bus fumes and sillycon skewed speculation to generate your laughable assertions?
gatlinggun6   32 minutes ago (10:32 PM)
Areshand of course we read what she wrote and have noted what she said as well. If Palin the Quitter had been President she actually thought we were committed to go to war with Russia over Georgia had Georgia been a member of NATO at the time. In her on words, "I guess we would have had to go to war according to the NATO Charter. Of course that's incorrect. The Quitter who by choice chooses to remain stunningly ignorant on a variety of issues is truly a dangerous person.

As for conservatism the problem with today's version is it's not conservative at all. Conservatism that once had at least some interest in governing is now Authoritarianism. This ideology requires submissive followers who park their brains and simply follow whatever their leaders say. Otherwise how could any reasonably intelligent individual not see that the Quitter is a fraud. How could anyone of even average intelligence follow a person who preferred quitting to governing a state.

As idiotic as these so-called "positions" are, Palin is too much of a dolt to have crafted them all by herself. I smell neo-con manipulation.

She's going to run people- she's paid off the one person she was afraid of Levi. Bristol has been in hiding lately, didn't show up for the segment on the view last week. Sarah will probably make an announcement about them eloping months ago and there expecting another baby. Remember the pink flowered dress with the baby bump a couple months ago?? Levi is pu ywhi ed. but heck the moneys good!!

And nevermind how it gets paid for, right?

Palin's a piker when it comes to foreign policy. This platform was probably written by Bill Kristol or one of the other leading Nerds for More War (aka. the Neoconservative movement.)

"When asked whether he believed in American exceptionalism, President Obama answered, 'I believe in American exceptionalism, just as I suspect that the Brits believe in British exceptionalism and the Greeks believe in Greek exceptionalism.' Amazing. Amazing. I think this statement speaks volumes about his world view.""

I think this example speaks volumes about Sarah Palin. President Obama is stating his belief in American exceptionalism while at the same time explaining how he could understand how any proud citizen of any country would believe the same thing. With this example he shows his understanding of the human psyche and our egocentric/geocentric nature. At the same time the President's words hit the ears of people who are not from America and instead of feeling insulted they can smile in understanding and feel good about themselves and the man who complimented them. All of this rich understanding not only goes over Sarah Palin's head, she uses exactly what I love about our President as a reason why he is not a worthy American leader.

Palin's version of exceptionalism doesn't rely on exceptional behavior or exceptional deed. It's a complacent thing where one sits on one's rear, content to be the fat cat, with no striving, no attempt to improve. It's self-flattery for the gullible, the declaration that America is perfect and needs no improvement.
SeektheTruth   57 minutes ago (10:07 PM)
100-percent agree!

Fanned.
This "God Bless America" meme is so ridiculous. God bless the world. America is a COUNTRY. The world is bigger and, in some cases, better.

I'm not sanguine about some of the terms I've seen associated with Ms. Palin, either, and I admit I've coined a few nicknames for her myself (none that I believe would raise many eyebrows), but, lest we forget, this is the same women who, on her website, showed a map of the United States and "targeted" key Congressional races by placing the district or state literally in crosshairs. Had I been standing for election in any one of those "targeted" areas, I'd vastly have preferred name-calling to having gunsights trained on me.

oy. What has this guy been smoking? And having her silliness and the word 'manifesto' in the same article, let alone sentence, is equally... um...interesting. Wonders never do cease... particularly the intellectually bankrupt sideshows.
