Music Video: Jasiri X - Just A Minstrel
Bamboozled again!
New video directed by Paradise Gray of X-Clan featuring Jasiri X, Isada Tariq and Living Proofe.
One quibble though - Jasiri, is it possible to actually 'dress nekkid'??
So are Gucci, Waka Flocka, Plies, Rick Ross, Wayne, T-Pain and 50 cent et al. modern-day minstrels in your opinion?

New Music: John Robinson & Lewis Parker - International Summers

Been super-busy recently and its not likely to change any time soon so I probably won't be posting quite as much stuff as I have over the past year but gonna try and post stuff like this still 'cos the homie, Adonis said cats appreciate the more obscure names they see on The Kitchen and can get the Drake, Wayne, Jay-Z, T.I. big-name stuff anywhere. Anyway, with trips to NYC looking to become more of a regular occurrence over the next few months, "International Summers" seems like a perfect track to kick off some posts with....
The First Single and title track from the new album dropping July 2nd on 2LP/CD/DIGITAL + Limited Edition Cassette (yeah!) on PROJECT MOON:CIRCLE records.
Download it via the bandcamp player above or click HERE.
Sidebar, wasn't Lewis Parker the rapper down with Massive Attack back in the day?

Lost Hope: is President Obama Drowning in the Fallout from the Oil Disaster?

It started as a loony Right Wing Obama attack talking point but is it actually coming true? Is the BP Gulf oil spill turning into 'Obama's Katrina' due to a perceived slack Federal government repsonse to the disaster. Maybe yes, maybe no but frankly, the fact more people fault President Obama here than faulted George W. Bush for his disastrous repsonse during the Hurricane Katrina debacle is disturbing.

New Music: Mickey Factz - Paradise

Well the kid finally did it. After signing to Jive Records, long time friend of the site and ace MC, Mickey Factz dropped what looks like is gonna be his first official major label single. Apparently this leaked end of last week and the homie DJ Enuff is already killin' it on Hot 97. For all y'all who already got a copy of this, be clear: this is the fully MASTERED, explicit version that just got delivered last night so click play, crank it up and check it out 'cos its a HEATER!

Video: Andre 3000 x Kobe Bryant - All Together Now
I know this did the rounds already but its 3-Stacks doing the Beatles in honor of Kobe Bryant's quest for a fifth NBA championship ring and since I just finished watching the Celtics play the Lakers TOUGH last night, I figured it was still apropos to post!
Labels: Andre 3000, Kobe Bryant, NBA, Nike, Outkast, The Beatles
Video: adidas Originals x Star Wars™ Cantina 2010
Starring David Beckham, Daft Punk, Snoop Dogg, Franz Beckenbauer, Noel Gallagher, Ian Brown (of Stone Roses), Ciara, Jay Baruchel, DJ Neil Armstrong and "some of your dear, old friends for an intergalactic 2010 FIFA World Cup™ viewing party that you'll never forget."
I rag on Star Wars but my (not so) inner-sci-fi geek self has to admit loving that....

Kia Soul TV Commercial feat. Black Sheep's The Choice is Yours
A new way to roll 2010? You can get with this or you can get with that! Saw this last night while watching the Lakers-Celtics game and didn't know whether I should laugh or cringe! I mean, those hamsters: WTF??!?

New Music: Jay-Z - Ultra feat. Swizz Beatz

I'm in vacation mode as I keep reiterating so I don't know what this is from (although it finally reveals what all those #Ultra tweets by Swizzy were about). I spotted it in my inbox which I'm trying to keep somewhat under control even while I'm away. Sounded not bad to my ears. Others?

Night Flight from The Connoisseurs of Culture Present J. Nolan - BROKEN DREAMS

Next song from the new BROKEN DREAMS project by ATL rapper, J. Nolan dropping June 7
Here's J. Nolan on the track:
"'Night Flight' is a concept song based upon physically looking down at the world and basically documenting what I see from an imaginary perspective, a 'high class society' perspective, and a middle ground of reality perspective. The song is produced by No Alias from Los Angeles, who also did "Feeling Good" and a few other joints on the album. Broken Dreams for free download on June 7th."
Kind of fits in with the theme of one of the books I'm reading right now, Jonathan Lethem's Fortress of Solitude.
This officially dropped yesterday but I'm a little out of it being that I'm on a semi-vacation right now. Might try to to get a few posts up today though because the weather's looking kind of wack.

New Music: Kanye West - Power feat. Dwele

Geez, you take one day off to go handle business in NYC and Kanye decides to go and leak new music from his forthcoming Good Ass Job album. Don't get it f-cked up though: this track is bananas! If you hopped off his bandwagon 'cos of the left-turn he took on 808's and Heartbreak, get back on 'cos it looks like the kid is focused again! Track produced by producer, Symbolyc One. Am I off in assuming he has something to do with Erykah Badu just 'cos he's from Dallas or am I right on that??
Thanks YN for the heads up when I bumped into him on 6th Ave. this lunchtime.

New Music: Drake - Light Up feat. Jay-Z / Fireworks feat. Alicia Keys

This is probably gonna be the only post from me today as I'm getting ready to head to NYC on a semi-business/semi-pleasure trip. Another two MAJOR tracks from Drake's highly-anticipated Thank Me Later album have surfaced. Man, this thing leaks more than that BP deep sea oil well!
Drake - 'Light Up' feat. Jay-Z [mp3 stream]
Drake - 'Fireworks' feat. Alicia Keys [mp3 stream]
Sooo... now that basically almost the entire (?) album is out there, are y'all digging what you've been hearing from Drizzy's debut?
[note: 'Light Up' is lightly tagged. I might try to replace when a CDQ drops or maybe I won't - y'all already heard enough of the album as it is and as you've probably noticed, I've slowed down a lot on offering mp3 downloads from major label artists who have not given explicit upfront permission to do so. Getting and hearing other bloggers getting DMCA warnings tends to make you do that!]

New Mixtape: Major Lazer x La Roux - Lazerproof

'What the f-ck is this??' you may be asking...
"The ubiquitous electro-dancehall duo Major Lazer has partnered with English synthpop outfit La Roux to create Lazerproof, a mixtape to be released for free on Wednesday, May 26th from Mad Decent!
On their self-titled debut from Cherrytree / Interscope, La Roux front-woman Elly Jackson channels her new wave and pop influences and projects them onto a backdrop of intricate electronic musings co-produced by Ben Langmaid. Major Lazer's brain-trust (Diplo and Switch), partner with them to bring the newest mixtape that was put together while on a recent trip to Jamaica.
Lazerproof plays on both groups' styles and the result is a project that is only vaguely recognizable as the sum of its parts- ska, dubstep, hip-hop and pop stars aligning to create a synth-Britania meets dubstep dancehall gem. Guest appearances from Gucci Mane, Drake, Gyptian, Rusko and Amanda Blank add the infamous Mad Decent touch."
Track Listing:
1. Bulletproof (Nacey Remix ft. Matt Hemerlein)
2. Colourless Artibella
3. I'm Not Your Lemonade + Heroes 'N' Villains Remix ft. Gucci Mane
4. Independent Kill ft. Candi Redd

New Music: Mark Ronson - Bang Bang Bang feat. Q-Tip

First track from Ronson's new (and second) currently untitled (?) solo album due in September featuring the 'Abstract One.' I digs!
I guess we're slowly getting to finally posting some alternative stuff as we normally do on Wednesday now, quite by accident I might add....

New Music: Common - Next Time (Just Right) feat. Queen Latifah (prod. by Kanye West)

Final version of an old track (sounds like its from the 2004-5 Be/Late Registration era to my ears which is a GOOD thing, frankly!) apparently from Common's Go! Common Classics greatest hits set that supposedly dropped yesterday?

You know what though? I still can't believe the dude's real name is Coke and 'Dudus' is his nickname!
