5th Street Tea House Opening Soon
Cups & Chairs, a tea house that has been in the works on 5th and Moore Monroe for a few months now, is hoping to open by early June, according to its owner. The business still needs to get a final go-ahead from the Health Dept. As Meal Ticket reported in March, Cups & Chairs will offer a few dozen kinds of tea as well as some light nosh. GMAP
New Townhomes Coming to Carpenter
Up go a few new rowhouses (six in total, it appears) on a stretch of Carpenter between 5th and 6th streets. Anyone know who the developer is or how these are supposed to look when all's said and done? GMAP
Rent Check: Queen Village 1-Bedroom

We're kicking off a semi-regular feature here where we'll spotlight apartments that are on the market. Notice a rental listing you think we should cover? Drop us a line: phillytips AT brownstoner.com.
So, how much to rent a 650-square-foot one-bedroom on Fitzwater and 2nd Street? This third-floor unit is going for $950 a month. We think the pros here include the picturesque block and the appliances that come with (washer-dryer and dishwasher). Negatives? Blah-looking kitchen, no pets allowed, and tenant has to pay all utilities. Think the rent is par for course in Queen Village?

House of the Day: 758 E. Passyunk Avenue

The listing for 758 E. Passyunk describes the house as extra wide (18 feet), and the accompanying photos definitely make it look roomy. The Queen Village location is also stellar. Possible negative? The only outdoor space, a brick garden, doesn't appear that big. The 2988-square-foot, three-bedroom house has only been on the market for a few weeks, and it's listed for $579,000. What do you think of it?

House of the Day: 504 South Hancock Street

Hey, look, it's the rare Philadelphia listing that includes a floor plan! (Of sorts...we can't make out many details on the hand-drawn schematic.) This trinity on the Society Hill-Queen Village border looks pretty cute but, at around 800 square feet, it's also very small. The listing says it's sporting a lot of recent updates, including refinished floors, new appliances and a new roof. With a price tag of $294,000, we're talking around $368 a foot. Think that's in line with prices in the area?
