While eurozone leaders insist a Greece rescue is unnecessary (but hammer out rescue details nonetheless), Greek PM Papandreou hints otherwise: "The question remains whether this mechanism will convince markets just as a gun on the table. If it does not convince them, it is a mechanism that is there to be used."

Toyota (TM) may face a second fine for failing to alert regulators about potential problems with sticky gas pedals and sudden acceleration. According to a letter from the NHTSA, the company's initial record fine could have been as high as $13.8B if not for a statute capping it at $16.4M.

China reported its first monthly trade deficit in six years yesterday, prompting the Commerce Ministry to say the yuan should remain "basically stable." The deficit is likely temporary, but officials say it shows "the deciding factor for the balance of trade is not the exchange rate, but market supply and demand and other factors."
