Politico reports:
A coffin was placed on a Missouri Democrat’s lawn, another in a string of incidents against lawmakers after their vote Sunday on a health care overhaul.
Rep. Russ Carnahan (D-Mo.) had a coffin placed “near his home,” a spokesman said Wednesday evening.
This came after Rep. Tom Perriello’s (D-Va.) brother’s gas lines were cut, Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.) received death threats and Rules Committee Chairwoman Louise Slaughter (D-N.Y.) received a message saying snipers were being deployed to kill children of those who voted for health care overhaul.
The California Secretary of State’s office has validated that there are enough petitions to qualify for the November ballot the question as to whether marijuana should be legal.
California would become the first state to legalize recreational marijuana if the proposition wins. It is legal to use marijuana for medicinal purposes in California and about a dozen other states, but the drug is illegal under federal law.
…
If approved, the initiative would allow those 21 and older to possess up to one ounce of marijuana and cultivate the plant in gardens.…

Just what we need now: more overheated images and rhetoric. Sarah Palin has put out a map showing which Democrats should be “targeted,” complete with gun sights.
And to promote her Facebook page, Palin urges, “Don’t Retreat, Instead-RELOAD!”

Mike Vanderboegh of Pinson, Alabama, a militia leader, wrote on his blog: “THIS is your time. Break their windows. Break them NOW.”
Vanderboegh is a co-founder of the “Three Percenters,” which took its name from the questionable idea that just three percent of the colonists actually fought for independence. Vanderboegh advocates even more violence against members of Congress than we’ve already seen.
“if we break the windows of hundreds, thousands, of Democrat party headquarters across this country, we might just wake up enough of them to make defending ourselves at the muzzle…

On my radio show Tuesday night, Mike Troxel (pictured) of the Lynchburg, VA Tea Party defended posting what he thought was the home address of Democratic Congressman Tom Perriello. However, it was the address of Periello’s brother, Bo, that wound up on Troxel’s website. Opponents of health care reform were asked to drop by and “express their thanks” for Periello’s vote. Troxel’s defense was that the Congressman was unreachable at his office, not responding to phone calls, and refusing to explain his pro-heath care reform vote to his electorate. Now, the FBI is investigating the severing…

Minister Wiley Drake, pastor of the First Southern Baptist Church of Buena Park, CA, who prays for the president and now the 219 pro-health care reform House Democrats to die, has added me to his imprecatory prayer list. In fact, he’d like everyone who supports health care reform to die, if only he could get their names for his list.
Colmes: Do you really want (the 219 Congress people) to die?
Drake: Absolutely…
Colmes: Are you going to do imprecatory prayer for me to die?
Drake: Your name will be on the imprecatory prayer list tomorrow morning.

Kaiser Health News reminds us of a bit of history:
In November, 1993, Sen. John Chafee, R-R.I., introduced what was considered to be the main Republican health overhaul proposal: “A bill to provide comprehensive reform of the health care system of the United States.”
Titled the “Health Equity and Access Reform Today Act of 1993,” it had 21 co-sponsors, including two Democrats (Sens. Boren and Kerrey). The bill, which was not debated or voted upon, was an alternative to President Bill Clinton’s plan. It bears similarity to the…
