Tell me I'm wrong. If, say, Al Gore went to China and criticized the way Bush handled the economy during Bush's reign, the screaming would have been deafening. But because it was Sarah Palin, she was just so gosh darned cute.

She criticized the U.S. Federal Reserve's massive intervention in the economy over the last year, according to one attendee, who declined to be named because he didn't want to be seen as speaking on behalf of his company. Praising the conservative economic policies of former U.S. President Ronald Reagan and former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, she gave a general defense of capitalist systems.

"She was careful not to be over-critical ... but she said she saw the fiscal situation is going out of control," said Gregory Lesko, managing director of New York-based Deltec Asset Management.

    There will be no rationing of care.
    There will be no Health Choices Commissioner and he will not be able to transfer money electronically out of your bank account.
    There will be nobody coming into your house and telling you what to eat.

I think there should be such a thing as an anti-Pulitzer. There should be an award for the reporter or reporters that most willfully ignore the basic falsehood of a story -- something like "fire is cold", or "if you shoot yourself in the head, M&M's will come out" or "if we reform our nation's healthcare, the President will send a Death Panel to murder my disabled son" -- and instead treat as if it was a debatable point worth reporting as fact.

You have to really, really try, in order to take a story so asinine and report it with such studious credulity. Well freakin' done.

Palin: Obama Will Kill My Baby

I guess their philosophy is to lie - but do it in such an outrageous way that their goon followers will be shocked into believing it. If Sarah's looking for evil, she can see it from her bathroom - in the mirror.

In a new posting on her Facebook account, former Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) made a dire statement about health care reform -- that it could result in an Obama-created "death panel" killing her infant son with Down Syndrome:

The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama's "death panel" so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their "level of productivity in society," whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil.

People who read know there's no such thing as a "level of productivity in society" clause in any of this. In fact, the whole idea of this health care reform is to provide insurance for everyone. Remember?

How did that message get mangled? And who's going to unmangle it? Sorry, Rahm...I gotta say it. Push back hard on this, Dems. DO something.

And if Sarah wants to see government make life or death decisions, she needs to see how seniors are monitored in Florida. Back in the deep red days there, we had to move my mom out of there because the state demanded she be placed in a Florida 24-hour care facility - which is the very definition of a "death panel."

FOX News Poll: Palin Should Go Away

Wow. They can't even massage their own numbers.

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's personal ratings have slipped and most people think the best job for her now that she has resigned as governor is away from the world of politics.

About a third of Americans think the best job for Palin is homemaker (32 percent), while nearly one in five see her as a television talk show host (17 percent). Vice president of the United States comes in third (14 percent), followed closely by college professor (10 percent), with president coming last (6 percent).

Republicans think the best job for Palin is vice president (27 percent), followed by homemaker (18 percent), talk show host (14 percent), president (12 percent) and professor (7 percent).

More Americans have a negative view of Palin than have a positive one. While 38 percent say they have a favorable opinion of her, 51 percent have an unfavorable view. Even so, her ratings are better than those of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi: 29 percent favorable and 47 percent unfavorable.

Difference: Nancy Pelosi isn't quitting because the press is mean to her.

As for congress' lousy numbers in that story...I'd be hard-pressed to disagree. It's herding cats, but the Dems better get their act together and FAST. When I say fast, I mean they need to throw the good stuff out there so fast and furiously, the wingnutards won't have the time to craft a long-running lying meme as they've done with healthcare and birth certificates.

Reid is a complete waste of time. Pelosi still doesn't get it. We need DeLay-style arm twisters to kick the Blue Dogs' asses, not someone who gets so ticked off they nervously adjust their glasses or shuffle papers.

Palin Pads Her Resume' With More Unethical Behavior

An independent investigator has found evidence that Gov. Sarah Palin may have violated ethics laws by accepting private donations to pay her legal debts.

The report obtained by The Associated Press says Palin is securing unwarranted benefits and receiving improper gifts through the Alaska Fund Trust, set up by supporters.

An investigator for the state Personnel Board says in his July 14 report that there is probable cause to believe Palin used or attempted to use her official position for personal gain because she authorized the creation of the trust as the "official" legal defense fund.

Palin Channels Joe the Plumber

Don't hold your breath waiting for her to choose "right things" candidates. Joe also made the same pledge. All he supported on his stumps was Joe the Plumber.

The Washington Times reports that Palin will quickly jump "back into the national political fray." "I will go around the country on behalf of candidates who believe in the right things, regardless of their party label or affiliation," Palin said over lunch in her downtown office. "People are so tired of the partisan stuff — even my own son is not a Republican."

Well, there you go. Sarah threw her son into the conversation, not the hateful liberal media. So now that she tossed in that hand grenade, just what party does he belong to? Chances are, like Todd Palin, it's the secessionist Alaskan Independence Party.

But I'm being mean to drag her kid into this.

It’s more likely that she will never get anywhere near the White House, and not just because of her own limitations. The Palinist “real America” is demographically doomed to keep shrinking. But the emotion it represents is disproportionately powerful for its numbers. It’s an anger that Palin enjoyed stoking during her “palling around with terrorists” crusade against Obama on the campaign trail. It’s an anger that’s curdled into self-martyrdom since Inauguration Day.

Its voice can be found in the postings at a Web site maintained by the fans of Mark Levin, the Obama hater who is, at this writing, the No.2 best-selling hardcover nonfiction writer in America. (Glenn Beck is No.1 in paperback nonfiction.) Politico surveyed them last week. “Bottomline, do you know of any way we can remove these idiots before this country goes down the crapper?” wrote one Levin fan. “I WILL HELP!!! Should I buy a gun?” Another called for a new American revolution, promising “there will be blood.”

These are the cries of a constituency that feels disenfranchised — by the powerful and the well-educated who gamed the housing bubble, by a news media it keeps being told is hateful, by the immigrants who have taken some of their jobs, by the African-American who has ended a white monopoly on the White House. Palin is their born avatar. She puts a happy, sexy face on ugly emotions, and she can solidify her followers’ hold on a G.O.P. that has no leaders with the guts or alternative vision to stand up to them or to her.

Anchorage Daily News: Good Riddance, Sarah

Alaska's newspaper of record won't be missing the cut-and-runner.

She continues to say she didn't want to stick around as a lame duck, once she decided not to run for re-election. In the upcoming legislative session, she suggested, she would be a political piñata, as lawmakers bashed on her in hopes of winning the soon-to-be vacated space in the governor's mansion.

That might make sense if Palin were as unpopular as her predecessor. But Palin is still plenty popular with Alaskans, so bashing her would be a strange marketing strategy for a future gubernatorial candidate. She doesn't seem to realize that lame duck status also can be liberating, freeing an official to do what she thinks best, even if it's politically unpopular...

Gov. Palin's responsibilities to the state and her national ambitions pull her in opposite directions. Before running for national office, Palin inspired bipartisan coalitions to pass ethics reform, fix the state's corruption-tainted oil taxes and create a competitive bidding process for issuing state incentives to pursue a North Slope gas pipeline. Once on the national stage, though, she won the adulation of Republican voters for her partisanship.

Ever since being chosen for the Republican ticket last summer, Gov. Palin has seemed more and more disengaged from the daily work of running state government. Given the continuing pull of national politics and a diminishing interest in governing Alaska, her decision to leave appears to be the right decision for Alaska.

BOTTOM LINE: The explanations are perplexing, but Alaska will be better off with a governor who wants to do the job.

From bi-partisan to out-of-step neocon. She screwed up: She blindly and weakly let a loser like Bill Kristol guide her career. Now she has none.
