How can there be two different Liberty Cities? GTA III and GTA IV, some1 please explain???

	The one from Grand Theft Auto III was just rebuilt for a new look. The difference is that Liberty City from Grand Theft Auto IV is based on New York City and Liberty City from Grand Theft Auto III was based on a bunch of places. But the one from GTA IV is the new one and Rockstar will go with this one for now on, unless they create another one in the future, which I wouldn't see happening. 	Thanks, bt I think they made a mistake, cos dis must mean tht GTA 3 neva tuk place if da city dunt exist nw. Wel maybe thn the reason fr ther bein no previous GTA characters featured in GTA IV, was cos Rockstar r leaving previous GTA titles behind EXCEPT GTA IV n saying thats 1 GTA world or story finished n nw their starting a fresh like all that never happened n planning a new GTA world/ history or sumat. Just a fort cos find it confusing tht in da world of GTA thers a Liberty City and thn suddenly in jus 9 years of GTA time the city 100% changed lol.

	i understand what you mean but its just a game dude. if they kept the first liberty city and went with it the size would limit the games progress and it would be the same old city with better graphics and that that, its different because for the series to move forward the city had to change. and you cant have lazlo on the radio in every new city the dude seriously cant move around that much!

	The way I look at it is GTA3 and GTA4 are set in different GTA universes. It's kind of like all of the Final Fantasy games. With a few minor exceptions, most of the games are set in different places. They share a lot in common, but they are their own games. GTA3, Vice City, and San Andreas were all a part of the GTA3 trilogy, so they all took place in the same GTA universe. GTA4 started a new GTA universe, and I'm willing to bet that the next GTA (which has been hinted at taking place in Vice City) will still be a part of GTA4. We may or may not see some characters overlap, but it will still be in the same setting. As for Lazlow, think of him as the Cid of the GTA franchise. For those that don't know, in just about every Final Fantasy game there is a character named Cid. For that matter, he could be looked at like the moogles, or Bigs and Wedge, since just about every FF has them as well. -----signature----- Guitarist for the Nerf Assassins and officially the coolest person in the band! 	my best explination is that it is like gotham city in the '89 batman vs batman begins, it has been updated to keep the game more current. GTA IV's Liberty City is a new take on an existing location. pretty much gets upgraded with new models, cars, phones, tv's, etc. the new liberty city is just a new version that better represents the vision for the city using technology that was nat available for GTA III.
