Cooler Master CM Storm Sentinal Advance Gaming Mouse Review @ Tweaknews

BERJAYA

Conclusion: It's easy to sum up the CM Storm Sentinel Advance. It's simply one of the best gaming mice on the market today, if not THE best. What makes it so great is not any one feature in particular, it's the combination of ergonomics, performance, and customization that all work together in making a mouse that is a winner for buyers in the enthusiast market.

Mionix Keid 20 Gaming Headset @ PureOverclock

BERJAYA

Conclusion: n the end, the Keid 20 leaves us a bit wanting but hopeful that Mionix can correct these shortcomings in a subsequent design. They've done this before with the Naos mouse, and proving they can hit a home run with some tweaking; clearly, Mionix has accomplished a great deal in a very short time. Hopefully lightning strikes twice with their headset; the Keid is a good product in many respects including aesthetics, comfort, and price, but ultimately falls short in audio performance.

Able Planet-PS500MM @ TechwareLabs

BERJAYA

Conclusion: The ableplanet PS500MM is a very well engineered set of headphones to say the least. The sound quality is impecible and the patented LINX AUDIO technology is something to experience. The soft on-ear cups are very comfortable being used for long periods of time. So if your in the market for a pair of headphones with a boom microphone, you have got to check out ableplanet’s PS500MM. You will be impressed!!

VE3D also reviewed the PS500MM back in August.

Blade Kitten Announcement, Screenshots & Trailer
- BERJAYA 9 Comments
Aussie outfit Krome Studios has announced Blade Kitten, a Playstation Network action title that is bound to appeal to furries the world over:

Based on the “Blade Kitten” comic book series by creator Steve Stamatiadis, Krome Studios is bringing bounty hunter Kit Ballard to digital life with the Blade Kitten downloadable videogame. The action adventure game, developed by Krome Studios, is set for release on the PlayStation Network from PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system in Spring 2010.

“Blade Kitten is a brain child of mine that originated as a comic series,” said Steve Stamatiadis, Krome co-founder and creative director, who also created the multi-million selling “TY the Tasmanian Tiger” series. “Bringing Kit’s anime-inspired universe to life is a milestone for us, and we’re excited to open her world up to gamers on the PlayStation Network.”

Blade Kitten invites players into the world of Hollow Wish where they take on the role of Kit Ballard, one of the best bounty hunters in the business. With her pink hair and tail, Kit is part cat, part girl - and fully lethal. As one of the last of her species, Kit commands her unique “Darque Blade” hovering sword to defeat enemies. Also along for the ride is Skiffy, Kit’s laid-back sidekick who lends a hand in collecting items, solving puzzles, and when needed, serves as Kit’s protector.

Blade Kitten goes beyond most downloadable titles to deliver a strong narrative, with high-quality cinematics, and a colorful, frenetic visual style, that lends to the pick-up-and-play arcade action. Players will jump right in and easily begin exploring and fighting their way through 19 levels, including three exploration levels with Noot (a rideable alien mount).

Blade Kitten will be released as a two part mini-series available exclusively via digital distribution on the PlayStation Network from PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system.

Aliens vs. Predator PC Review
- BERJAYA 14 Comments
IGN's Nate Ahearn has replayed Aliens vs. Predator, this time on the PC, and subsequently adapted his original 7.0/10 console review for a re-issue on IGN's poorly-maintained PC portal:

Speaking of polish, the graphics have been given their due on the PC. Textures on surfaces and objects look much better and are much higher detail when playing on my rig with maxed out settings. Gone were the muddy looking exteriors of the Predator campaign and the slowdown that popped up on the consoles is almost entirely removed on PC. The only spot where I ran into an issue was during multiplayer, but that was likely due to the host's connection rather than a fault in the game itself. Campaigns other than the Predator's have seen the same bump in visual fidelity. The Marine's closed off interiors have better looking models and the same goes for the Alien's levels. The only downside is that the PC version was obviously held back slightly by its console-bound cousins. Despite the improvements enabled by the hardware in my PC, there weren't many effects that were specific to the platform and designed to take advantage of some of the more impressive graphical possibilities.

While the visuals have seen a bump thanks to the increased specs on my PC, the sound effects are identical to what you'll see hear in other versions. Every sound that should be recognizable from the Alien and Predator worlds comes through just as you remember them. From the marine's machine guns to the Predator switching between different vision modes to the Alien's unpleasant hissing sound, it's all here. Sadly the voice acting, less Lance Henriksen as Weyland, is subpar. The story isn't all that good to begin with – nor does it need to be – but it's not aided by characters that lack emotion.

Unfortunately, I have to take issue with Nate's re-edit. While it is better than the disaster that was Greg Miller's Batman: Arkham Asylum PC review, Nate clearly states that he used a GeForce GTX 260. As you all know, this is not a DirectX 11 GPU, and as such he won't see any extra eye-candy. Obviously Nate was unaware of that small fact, otherwise he wouldn't have written the following:

Despite the improvements enabled by the hardware in my PC, there weren't many effects that were specific to the platform and designed to take advantage of some of the more impressive graphical possibilities.

Nate also fails to mention how much more responsive the keyboard and mouse is, especially during the Alien campaign; or the fact that the PC multiplayer is a complete mess. If he had, he may have then also mentioned the forthcoming addition of dedicated servers.

Regardless, the improvements and changes that Nate did notice take the original Graphics Score from 5.5/10 to 7.5/10:

5.5 on consoles - Poor texture work, a bland color palette and a needlessly unstable framerate make this an unattractive package.

7.5 on PC - Some nice draw distance, good details and more solid framerate than what was seen on consoles. Now if only the game could’ve broken free of the constraints of its underpowered alternate versions.

Overall, the PC version of Aliens vs. Predator is rated 7.3/10, up from the original 7.0/10 on consoles.

Metro 2033 Graphics Far Superior On PC
- BERJAYA 11 Comments
Most titles that appear on both the Xbox 360 and PC offer only the most cursory of upgrades - higher resolution textures, a bit of extra anti-aliasing, and the option to play at a higher resolution. With Metro 2033, Russian developer 4A Games has done their utmost to make the PC version a graphical tour de force:

Graphics-wise, the PC version of the 4A engine is far removed from the console versions. All too often we've seen PC games that are identical to the 360 equivalents, simply offering you the ability to run at higher resolutions with higher frame-rates.

Metro 2033 features superior volumetric fog, double the precision in the PhysX, 2048x2048 textures (up against 1024x1024 on console), better shadow-map definition and filtering, object blur in DX10, sub-surface scattering for superior skin shaders, parallax mapping on all surfaces and better geometric detail with less aggressive LODs.

There's also going to be support for tessellation in DirectX 11. In basic terms, tessellation interpolates new polygons, so the closer you get to a tessellated object, the more polygons are generated.

DirectX 11 is a huge leap over its predecessor and its many capabilities look set to be embraced by games developers, including 4A.

"I really enjoy three things: compute shaders, tessellation shaders and draw/create contexts separation," Shishkovtsov says. "The major thing that can up the performance is the compute shaders. Today, games spend the majority of the frame doing the various kinds of post-processing. The easy route to extract some performance is to rewrite that post-processing via compute.

"Even the simple blurs can be almost twice as fast. For example we've rewritten our depth-of-field code, to greatly enhance quality while still maintaining playable frame-rate. [In Metro 2033] all the 'organic' things like humans are tessellated, and monsters use real displacement mapping, to greatly enhance visuals."

"We don't need as much system memory as other PC-only games. Anything above 512MB RAM with DX10/DX11 code-path on Win7 would be enough," Shishkovtsov says. "DirectX 9 uses system memory backing store for almost all GPU resources, so you should add around 256 MB to avoid page-file swapping.

"The CPU side is slightly more problematic. Because the system is heavily multi-threaded, we need at least two hardware threads for 'smooth' gameplay. The CPU performance doesn't matter that much, except on a few selected scenes during the whole game as long as it is relatively modern architecture (not Intel Atom!) and has more than one core."

BioShock 2's Multiplayer Mode Gets Bashed
- BERJAYA 7 Comments
Veteran games editor Tom Chick tackles BioShock 2's multiplayer mode. Having had a rant about the Xbox 360's Xbox Live connectivity issues, Tom then turns his attention towards the PC version:

I can get into multiplayer Bioshock 2 games on the PC with no problem. The "getting in" part is easy. The "playing" part is a whole other kettle of fish. Rotten, stinking, franchise-killing fish. The PC multiplayer is afflicted with insufferable lag. I jump down from the second-story balcony of the Kashmir Restaurant and open fire on the guy hacking the turret, but then I'm suddenly back on the second floor again. I try to walk through a door, but it won't open. I turn a corner and suddenly I'm staring at the wall ten feet short of the corner. What the hell is going on? It's like having a 2400 baud modem.

There are also the little things. The tab key that calls up scores doesn't also close the scores. Even though I've downloaded and installed the game through Steam, I can't use Steam to invite friends or join games. Unlike the Xbox 360 version, I can't skip past the intro logos when the game loads. I repeat, what the hell is going on? And was the patch I just downloaded supposed to actually fix anything? Because I'm pretty sure it just made everything worse. Far, far worse. Maybe I'm better off playing something popular and reliable, where I have a 1:6 kill/death ratio but can at least get into a working game.

I'm angry and sad. As of two weeks after its release, Bioshock 2 is one of the worst case examples of a fantastic multiplayer game undone by sloppy connectivity issues. I'm reminded of Rise of Legends, an ingenious bold real time strategy game that never found a multiplayer community, partly because it had so many connectivity issues when it was released. Those of us who loved the game were stymied again and again by technical issues. By the time they were ironed out, everyone else had moved on. Here's to hoping this isn't what happens with Bioshock 2, where I can already see the signs of rigor mortis and smell the overwhelming stench of technical failure.

Last time I logged on, the matches I joined were filled with grenade and rocket launcher spammers seeking an easy victory. A balance patch may make me return, but for the foreseeable future I've got plenty of other stuff to play.

King Arthur: The Role-Playing Wargame Expansions Announced
- BERJAYA 0 Comments
NeoCoreGames intends to release an additional two expansions for their role-playing strategy game, descriptively called King Arthur: The Role-Playing Wargame. The Saxon and Welsh downloadable addons will add the usual assortment of units, along with a new economic model and a new sandbox mode:

We’re very proud to announce the release of two King Arthur expansion packs, due in March and April 2010.

Both the Saxon and the Welsh expansions will contain brand new units, heroes and hero abilities as well as completely new objectives and lots of never seen quests.

What’s even more important, they’ll include a new economic system redesigned for a totally new campaign structure, where you’ll be able to play in sandbox mode being either the Christian king or the monarch following the ways of the Old Faith. The expansions will have a complex diplomatic system, campaign winning conditions that can be set by the player and an absolutely free, non-story-based gameplay.

Stay tuned for more info during the next few weeks.

Find them on Steam upon release.

Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment Blames Bankruptcy On CEO, Initiates Legal Proceedings
- BERJAYA 2 Comments
More details regarding Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment's bankruptcy have come to light. In a statement, the firm's shareholders claim that CEO Gary Whiting is solely responsible for Cheyenee's current predicament, and as such his employment terminated, and legal proceedings initiated. Tallying with their statement, reprinted below, Whiting is named on an investment complaint site, where it is alleged that he "preys on small investors." Googling his name reveals yet more tales of dodgy dealing and suspicious activity between entities that he either owns or controls.

Gary Whiting, the Company’s former, Chairman and former CEO of its subsidiary Cheyenne Mountain Games, Inc. has been named in a complaint filed in Maricopa County, Arizona Superior Court by shareholders, derivatively on behalf of Cheyenne Mountain Games, Inc. and Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment, Inc., alleging various wrong doing against the Company.

The Company also became aware a few months ago that Mr. Whiting, was named in a complaint filed in Utah County, Utah, (Case No. Civil 0904022438), and that he has caused the Company to be named in that same lawsuit, and he has allegedly obligated the Company for monies paid to Garvick Properties, LLC, a limited liability company controlled by Mr. Whiting (“Garvick”).

Mr. Whiting and Garvick purchased various securities from the Company and its subsidiaries and has failed to honor the terms of these purchases and has failed to pay the payments when due; therefore, the Company and its subsidiaries have foreclosed on the collateral securing Mr. Whiting’s and Garvick’s obligations including all shares and units owned by Garvick and Garrick Enterprises, LLC.

The shareholders and board of the Company have removed Mr. Whiting as a board member and as an officer and terminated his employment with the Company and any of its subsidiaries. The Company has joined the litigation against Mr. Whiting for alleged wrongdoing. More information about the litigation can be found here.

It is uncertain at this time what the affect of Mr. Whiting’s actions and the pending litigation will have on the Company’s operations and financial condition.

As for the just-released Stargate Resistance, Cheyenne claims that its operation is unaffected, and that development continues apace.

New World of Warcraft Raid Dungeon Revealed
- BERJAYA 3 Comments
The Blizz clears up some confusion regarding upcoming World of Warcraft content. A minor content patch is currently in public testing, and I guess some of the collective thought it had gone live. But it hasn't. :p However, they still dish out on the newest raid dungeon which will be available in the 3.3.5 patch.

The Ruby Sanctum

A powerful war party of the Black Dragonflight, led by the fearsome Twilight dragon, Halion, have launched an assault upon the Ruby Sanctum beneath Wyrmrest Temple. By destroying the sanctum, the Black Dragonflight look to crush those that would stand in the way of their master’s reemergence into Azeroth and to ultimately shatter the Wyrmrest Accord – the sacred bond that unites the dragonflights.

The battle that is to come will surely deal a crippling blow to the Red Dragonflight, however, it is up to you to stop this unprecedented offensive and defend the Ruby Sanctum. First you must face the assault of Halion's servants, Saviana Ragefire, Baltharus the Warborn, and General Zarithrian, before squaring off against Halion the Twilight Destroyer, a new and deadly force in this realm.

The Ruby Sanctum will feature 10- and 25-player content, Heroic difficulties and all-new rewards! Stay tuned for more information as we get closer to its release.

Next Age of Conan Update Allows For Offline Progression
- BERJAYA 8 Comments
Funcom's Age of Conan Game Director, Craig Morrison, puts out Letter From The Game Director: February 2010, and it's definitely an interesting one! Now that the 1.06 update has been released, Morrison begins dishing out some details on the next big update, 1.07.

A major highlight of the letter is word on "Offline Progression". I'm a bit confused as I read over the details. The word "offline" makes me think of being able to play and level without being connected to the game servers. Perhaps it will make more sense in the morning! (Or when someone smarter explains it in the comments ;)

Another new additional feature that is coming to all players during these expansion updates is a small, but significant addition for subscribers (this won’t be available to trial players) and that is a new offline progression system. The pace of leveling in the game we feel is pretty much where we would like it to be, but we also understand that players like leveling alternate characters, and like to explore additional classes, but can’t always ‘keep up’. This new system will award players with additional levels accrued over time that can be allocated to your characters in character creation. It isn’t designed as a ‘power leveling’ system (it would take you something like nine months to max a character using this method alone! …and that amount may be tweaked yet) but it is designed to allow you to earn and allocate additional levels to your characters over time.

It is of course important to remember that this will be completely optional. You will be able to choose where, and when, you allocate these extra levels from the character creation screen.

This is intended as a small bonus to subscribers, and isn’t seen as any kind of a replacement for actually playing the game, we just wanted to add something that is an ongoing bonus for your subscription. So even if you go on holiday or have to take a break from playing you will return to some extra levels allocated to your favorite characters.

Dragon Age Awakening Lead Writer Chats About Sigrun
- BERJAYA 0 Comments
BioWare Blog features an interview with Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening Lead Writer, Ferret Baudoin. Good lord, is that his real name?

During the chat they focus on the Sigrun character; her background, personality, inspiration for the character, and why you might want her in your party.

Why would you want her in your party?

As a legionnaire scout, Sigrun has access to abilities which make her very durable in a fight. She’s a dual-wielding rogue who is adept at hiding and sneaking. With a few good runes on her weapons and some of the new epic rogue abilities, she can be a damage-dealing machine who strikes suitable terror in her foes — especially when she strikes from behind, where her quick backstabs add up to impressive numbers.

EA's Schappert Tips On Succeeding In Current Market
- BERJAYA 9 Comments
Gamasutra reports from DICE 2010 where John Schappert, COO of EA, dishes out 5 tips for succeeding in the current game market.

The headlines these days are not good - “In fact, they’re kind of depressing,” says Schappert. But he also asserts that the job loss and the flagging retail sales don’t paint the full picture. NPD doesn’t track big box retailers, international sales, or digital downloads or subscriptions, so he says it’s very hard to get an accurate shape of our industry.

We’ve weathered this storm before, Schappert reminded us. “But this one’s different, it’s harder, it’s more difficult, it’s more complex. There’s a lot more platforms now.”

“Consumers are being very price conscious with their money, and very selective in what they buy,” he says, admitting also that “If you’re not in the top 30, maybe the top 20, or even the top 10, you’re probably not making money,” talking of the blockbuster retail arena.

But though those platforms make it tougher, it “also gives us more opportunities than we’ve ever had before,” said Schappert. With that, he divulged his top 5 tips for succeeding in this market over the next 3 years.

A Tale in the Desert Bastet Server Launch
- BERJAYA 3 Comments
A Tale in the Desert is getting ready to repeat "Telling 4" with the launch of its Bastet server this February 20th at 9:00 AM EST. A Tale in the Desert is a non-combat MMO which focuses on crafting and building a society from scratch. To kick things off, players will receive 24 hours of free gameplay. You can view a trailer below.

The world will be empty, as everything in the game is player-made. A Tale in the Desert boasts the most advanced tradeskill system ever devised in an MMO, coupled with social gameplay and group tasks that take the whole playerbase to complete.

The real appeal of Bastet will be that for the first time, every test is coded in the game, so the speed of the telling will only be limited by how quickly players can unlock the content. This new server will also allow players the opportunity to become influential in a new world where seasoned players will be in limited supply. This unprecedented experiment promises to be full of excitement and new experiences.

About A Tale in the Desert

A Tale in the Desert is a unique massive online game. It has absolutely no combat and death is rare. Within the game is one of the most complex trade skill systems that have ever been created. This is coupled with tests in various disciplines that challenge players to work together or against each other. There is a discipline to meet almost any interest. Perhaps most unique is that the game actually has an ending and a new telling starts up with players back at ground zero.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Demo Downloaded 3.5 Million Times; Gameplay Stats Divulged
- BERJAYA 6 Comments
Cor blimey govnor, the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 demo is a bit popular:

Champions Online State of the Game: Special Edition
    - BERJAYA 0 Comments
Cryptic wants to update Champions Online fans (and would-be fans) of all the hot activity going on in camp no-man's land. Over the next few weeks they are rolling out some new stuff, including a re-do of the whole Kitchen Sink update and testing of the new Revelation content.

Kitchen Sink Scrub LIVE Next Week

We’ve been squashing all the bugs, making sure the attack speed issue is addressed, and generally taking industrial strength cleaners to the Kitchen Sink patch on the Play Test Shard the past week or so. We’re prepping our release candidate for a good weekend soaking on PTS and then we’re looking to push it out to LIVE next week. The guys are working on comprehensive patch notes now so you know what’s fixed, what’s still in progress, and what’s up next in terms of bug fixes.

    Developer PvP Event

We’re going to put on the gloves and give you another shot at taking down the developers in some PVP action on the LIVE servers next Friday, February 26th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. PST. We’ll also be debuting our new developer supergroup, The Cryptonauts, so you don’t want to miss out on this one.

    Revelation Coming to PTS

The expansion is going to start phase one of external test next week on the Public Test Shard. We’re really excited to get it out there for our dedicated community test team to take it to task, so ready a level 37 hero to face the challenges of Vibora Bay!

    Revelation LIVE in Mid-March

We’re currently planning on about a 3-week test period on PTS for Revelation, which means we’ll be pushing it to the LIVE servers in the middle of March. So you won’t have too long to wait until you can face down the Apocalypse!

    Revelation Web Page

We’re in the process of pulling all of the assets together for our Champions Online – Revelation page on the web site. This includes screen shots, teaser video, Vibora Bay lore, significant heroes and villains, new items, new costumes, new perks, and a peek inside the level 40 repeatable end-game area, Therakiel’s Lair. We know you have a lot of questions in terms of exactly what is in Revelation, so this will be up absolutely as soon as we get all the assets together and the web team can whip up the page.

    EVE Online: Tyrannis Announced
    - BERJAYA 7 Comments
Out this Summer, EVE Online: Tyrannis will allow players to build facilities on a planet's surface for the purpose of generating minerals, and ultimately, ISK:

For a long time we have had people asking us for more options to build up their own infrastructure. It‘s something that comes up frequently at Fanfest, in past CSMs and during casual conversations with players. There seems to be some deep Freudian desire to erect something monumental. To make stuff. To create something new. At last Fanfest we announced our plans to allow you, the pod-pilots of New Eden, to shift your foci away from the heavens for a moment, onto the planets. In Dominion, we gave the planets a facelift, updating the graphics with beautiful landscapes, awe inspiring deserts, peaceful Ewok-friendly green worlds and violent burning lava fields. But that was just eye candy, right? Well, not quite. In our upcoming expansion, Tyrannis, ALL THESE WORLDS ARE YOURS.

OMG did you say all of the planets!?

That‘s right, you will finally be able to survey for juicy deposits of minerals and other goodies, build infrastructure to harvest them, store them, process them and launch them into space. Build complex networks of facilities and fine tune them for optimal production. All in a very massive single shard sandboxy way as only EVE can provide. And it‘s not just the terran planets. It‘s ALL OF THEM. The gas giants, the lava planets, the ice worlds, the water worlds and even the elusive plasma planets. Each type with their unique properties. Maintaining facilities on gruesomely hostile planets will be tougher and more demanding, but the rewards may be so much more “onturning.”

More will be revealed in upcoming blogs and on our test server, Singularity. Make note however that Singularity is a test server, primarily intended for testing of code in development and nothing is final until it hits Tranquility. All graphics, UI, balancing and mechanics are subject to change, iteration and polish...

    Is there combat on planets?

No, not in this expansion. This expansion is about exploration and industry. When something goes bad or breaks it is because of the owner‘s mismanagement, and when things are awesome and perfect, it is because of skill and hard labor on part of the player that runs the facilities.

In future expansions you will be able to project military force for attack and defense of planetary installations. That will be where DUST 514 will connect with EVE. But DUST 514 will not be coming out at the same time as Tyrannis, so that is at a later date.

    Overall improvements

We are working on other optimizations and improvements throughout the game, as usual with our expansions. A task force is working on reducing fleet fight lag, often working deep into the night chasing action around on TQ, while another team is developing an advanced simulation environment for load testing on our local servers.

There is a sense of excitement in the air here at CCP. Today our development teams finished the first of their three week sprints, ending in a demo where we saw parts of the both the planetary feature and EVE Gate already running, with mocked up UI and graphics. Our engineers, artists and designers are deeply committed to continue to deliver a compelling EVE experience to all of our players, deepening the game with exciting new functionality while iterating, polishing and improving existing systems and code. We truly look forward to delivering Tyrannis to you. Soon.

Stargate Worlds & Stargate Resistance Developer Goes Bankrupt
    - BERJAYA 14 Comments
Following several close calls, Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment's coffers finally ran dry, sending the troubled firm to Maricopa County Court to declare bankruptcy.

    BERJAYA BERJAYA BERJAYA

Clearly Cheyenne were counting on the just-released Stargate Resistance, third-person online shooter to save them, but despite the ever-so-low price tag, the firm's quick-cash pre-order plan obviously failed. Unfortunately for Resistance buyers, the Gate Room's lights may quickly go out - with no money, who will pay for server hosting, or maintain the stability of the service?

And as for their Stargate Worlds MMO... well, you didn't really expect that to ever see the light of day, did you?

Update: Conspiracy theories abound about management takeovers, firings, and other crazy shenanigans. All we know for certain is that Stargate Resistance is still operating, as detailed in this official release from FireSky, Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment's in-house development team:

Cheyenne Mountain’s corporate structure has undergone some dramatic changes in the last few weeks, and that has resulted in various actions such as the filing for Chapter 11. Certain parties believed that was the right thing to do, other parties do not and this is still being evaluated and may be rescinded. Even if the bankruptcy should go through, however, Chapter 11 simply allows a company to restructure its debt to a manageable plan approved by the courts. It does not absolve a company of debt, and it does not shut it down or otherwise affect its daily operations.

This will all be sorted out in the legal and proper manner, and all of us on the development side of things hope it’s done as quickly as possible.

That said, our entire staff is in-house working on upgrades and expansions for Stargate Resistance, and we continue to be motivated and excited by the response we’ve received from our customers.

    See you on the battlefield!

Update #2: Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment blames bankruptcy on their CEO.

    DarkStar One: Broken Alliance Announced
    - BERJAYA 4 Comments
Do you remember DarkStar One, an enjoyable space-action game from 2006? Well it's back, in an enhanced and extended form, exclusively on the Xbox 360:

Kalypso Media today announced that the space combat/adventure title DarkStar One: Broken Alliance is coming to Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. DarkStar One: Broken Alliance is currently in development by Kalypso Media’s own studio Gaming Minds and is scheduled for a summer 2010 release.

DarkStar One: Broken Alliance sees players exploring the vast reaches of space, encountering, battling and trading with six mysterious alien races in a quest to unravel the mysterious death of the protagonist’s father. Players can create their own career paths – be it brigand, mercenary, privateer, merchant or whatever mix they please, while buying (or capturing) alien technology to customise their highly adaptable ship, the DarkStar One, with hundreds of possible combinations of weapons, shields, armour and components.

DarkStar One: Broken Alliance combines fast and furious in-the-cockpit starship combat with a deep storyline involving love, family, betrayal and mysterious alien races. Play as Kayron Jarvis, a young and ambitious space faring adventurer as he attempts to unravel a family mystery, braving the depths of space, encounters mysterious aliens and blasts his enemies to dust in his uniquely customisable ship – the DarkStar One.

    Features:

  • An open-ended storyline that allows players to choose their path to fortune and glory - play as a privateer, mercenary, smuggler, trader or any combination of these – tweaking your ship's capabilities and tactics to best suit your style of play.

  • Fully customise your ship with weapons, engines, shields and over 200 distinct components. Purchase the parts you need, or capture them from enemy ships. Turn the DarkStar One into a heavily armed freighter, fast attack boat, cruiser or whatever you like, all based on a massive variety of customisation options.

  • Explore a universe comprised of more than 330 solar systems populated by six distinct alien races, each with their own technology, architecture and space combat tactics. Befriend aliens and trade with them for new equipment, or gun them down and take their technology – the choice is yours.

  • A stunning full 1080p HD-powered 3D graphics engine, an intuitive user interface, more than 40 minutes of cut scene storytelling, and over 90 minutes of Dolby® 5.1 channel surround sound music immerse the player in thrilling space combat and unpredictable encounters with alien races and exotic worlds.

  • An innovative hybrid gameplay style effortlessly moves the player between story-driven adventure gaming and fierce space battles in full 3D, while a richly developed trading and customisation system seamlessly links the two modes of play.

DarkStar One: Broken Alliance will be available for Xbox 360 and scheduled for a summer 2010 (RRP £44.99).
