EA Closin' Down Servers Like it's Goin' Out of Style

It seems like only yesterday (alright, 15 days ago) that EA shut down a bunch of online servers for games such as Fight Night Round 3, Madden 09 and NCAA Football 09. Well, now it looks like the company's at it again. According to the Service Updates page over on the official EA website, 12 more titles are going to have their online portions snipped off in the months of March and April. Caressa Cameron, crowned Miss America 2010 on Saturday night, promptly got on the wrong side of the estimated 174 million gamers in her home country. During the interview portion of the 89th annual beauty contest, Cameron was asked what should be done about America's childhood obesity epidemic.

"Take away the TV, take away the videogames, set some standards for our children," the 22-year-old Virginia native declared. Parents should encourage their kids to play outside, she continued, "playing imaginary games with sticks in the street like I did when I was little." Read More »

The nominees for the Game Developers Choice Awards have been announced today, and iPhone, downloadable, and free-to-play online games have been added to the competition.

Top nods went to Uncharted 2 with seven nominations ranging from Best Game Design and Best Writing to Game of the Year. Flower was the second most-nominated game this year, with five nominations including Best Visual Art to Best Audio. Assassin's Creed II, Batman: Arkham Asylum and Plants vs. Zombies also took multiple nominations.
