But the bidding process for this refueling tanker jet has been a disgrace.
By now both bidders - Boeing and the Airbus Northrup Grumman Consortium - are pissed.
And Airbus - which had promised to build its fourth largest plant outside Europe in Mobile Alabama - has threatened not to participate in the current re-bidding of the project.
The Airbus consortium had already been told they had won the bid, but then Boeing appealed and applied a ton of political presssure to give the contract to an "American company".
And now the Pentagon has re-bid the project with a new set of requirements that Airbus says they can't meet.
Despite the fact they'd already won the previous bid.
So Shelby's got good reason to be pissed.

Despite the obfuscation, the issue is divvying up the money between those who derive income from those who work for a living (the dividend/interest crowd) and those who work for a living. They use wedge issues, like reinstating the literacy test for voting, why is it that we have a "porch monkey" as president and socialism, fascism and so forth. It's all malarkey.
The real issue, and the only issue is whether the corporations are going to continue to control the government, or whether, someway, somehow, we reinstate a government of the people, by the people, and for the people.
They're going to keep us in as many false dichotomies as possible to keep people from addressing the true dichotomy, corporate versus people control of the government.

That's the thing with the Senate. Since the voting power in the Senate is not dependent on the population of the various states, and adapting the definition of democracy as "rule of the majority", it's unfortunate that thanks to the Senate, we don't live in a "complete" democracy.
