When you first start up the multiplayer you'll be treated to a few bits of story. You'll see an intro video and you'll even get an apartment. This space is actually pretty nice as far as Rapture standards go, with cushy furniture in the large interior space, large windows that look out upon the city's seabed sprawl, and even its own bathysphere. All this stuff basically functions like a glorified options menu, but it's still a nice inclusion. You can keep track of the limited multiplayer story here too, listening through audio recordings as they're delivered while you blast away at others online. This'll probably take you a few minutes to look through, but before long you're going to want to dive into the action. Here's where you'll have to start making choices, because BioShock 2's online component is built in a manner similar to that of Modern Warfare. There's an overall rank and unlock progression where you're rewarded for success on the battlefield with new weapons, plasmids and tonics. You then can go into a loadout customization menu and set up how you want your character to work, which means like in Modern Warfare or Counter-Strike you're building your own class.
For those out the loop, the PC version requires the use of Games For Windows Live. Matches are 5v5, and hosted exclusively on user's machines, as with Modern Warfare 2.

Beginning at 6:00 pm Pacific time Thursday February 4th, we will be performing software maintenance on some Steam servers. We expect the resulting downtime to last three hours at most, putting the end of the window at 9:00 pm Pacific time. Some Steam services will be offline during this time. Affected services will include the Steam Community, in-game matchmaking or lobbies, downloading games from Steam content servers, and making purchases from the Steam store. Games that do not rely on Steam matchmaking services should remain playable.
We will work to make this downtime as short as possible. Thank you for your patience!
The winning Gamer’s Choice Award team will be presented $10,000 on Feb. 19 at D.I.C.E. In addition to the Gamer’s Choice Award, the grand prizes and category winners of the Indie Game Challenge will also be unveiled at D.I.C.E. in an awards ceremony hosted by Sessler.
In The Hunt, players explore some of North America’s most famous hunting locations, where they will be able to stalk and hunt their prey using a variety of different firearms including bolt-action rifles, shotguns, pistols, bows, and knives. To help them in their hunt, players will use Bass Pro Shops gear and equipment like calls, scents, blinds and a uniquely designed GPS device to guide them to their prey. The Hunt features three game modes: Quick Hunt, Career Mode, and the Bass Pro Shops Continental Classic Hunting Championship as well as four mini-games (Target Range shooting, ATV Racing, Blind Fire, and Coyote Cruise).
Mankind was on the brink of destruction and had exhausted Earth from all its natural resources. A space exploration team then discovered that our neighbor planet Mars has a crystal that we could harvest energy from. Our last hope was to excavate those crystals. One year later the largest space launch in human history where launched to secure our future existence. We thought we were ready for Mars, the thin atmosphere, the temperature and the tough environment, but nothing could have prepared us from what was coming. Will humanity be saved or forever perish in history? Only you can decide!

Furthermore, apparently the Ferengi females are an inaccurate representation of the Ferengi race, as they are FULLY CLOTHED. A Ferengi female wearing clothing in the Star Trek series would have been banished. Micro-transactions are typically limited to cosmetic upgrades and non-combat pets, however, one post also states that when purchased, Klingon Officers come with some decent stats, which is certainly more than a cosmetic purchase.
A few posts state that the Klingons were removed from the game during beta, and Cryptic stated (at the time) that it was due to a graphics glitch. Instead they were pulled off the assembly line to be sold to the highest bidder. Some players defend Cryptic's choice to make the two races DLC, saying that in the lore you do not see a lot of Ferengi and Klingons in the federation. Well, hello, you see even less "Liberated Borg".
Let the games begin!
Funcom is proud to reveal the first ever in-game footage from the highly anticipated modern-day massively multiplayer game `The Secret World'. The location footage consists of grainy and distorted black and white shots that give a unique and mysterious glimpse into the town of Kingsmouth – one of the many locations from all over the real world to be featured `The Secret World'. In the game, as the video shows, horrific events have befallen the sleepy New England town."There are darker and far more terrifying things in Kingsmouth than the walking dead," says Senior Producer and Director Ragnar Tørnquist. "The video simply scratches the surface and reveals only a tiny glimpse of what this location is all about. Kingsmouth harbors ancient secrets and dark conspiracies that players have to work together to uncover - along with a menagerie of evil, including creatures from myth and legend, and horrors from the sea. A mysterious mist has enshrouded the entire Solomon Island, and it will be up to the players to figure out what's happened and to stop this terror from spreading further."
Earlier this month Funcom executed an elaborate ARG (alternate reality game) initiative where the 250.000 members strong community surrounding the game were given clues that helped them discover the Kingsmouth website – the online presence for the New England town. This provided them with a unique insight into the location that is featured in the game. Blood covered postcards featuring a `Greetings from Kingsmouth' message were also mailed out to journalists all over the world. This initiative is now reaching its climax with the release of the Kingsmouth location video footage.
"The video consists entirely of in-game footage, except for the obvious color modifications and distortion effects," says Erling Ellingsen, Director of Communications at Funcom. "One of the reasons why we have chosen to reveal the footage in this unique way is because we are saving the undistorted, full color in-game footage for the Game Developer Conference in March. Our plan right now is to showcase actual gameplay for the first time ever to the media at GDC, as well as releasing all-new footage to the public at the same time. Of course, much can happen before March and some of the gamers out there might want to keep their tin foil hats on and their eyes keenly open for more mysterious clues to appear."
Note that the closing tagline has since been changed to "Hell Awaits" for CBS' broadcast due to a complaint from the corporation.
Update: Here's the aforementioned CBS cut:

Mortal Online is a next generation PC MMORPG both in terms of graphics and gameplay. There are no PvP zones, only an open realistic world where you are free to choose your own path. Experience true real-time combat where you decide every move your character makes and where your personal skill really matters.Build your own house, or set up a guild to build a keep. With enough power, violence or diplomacy, you and your allies will be able to rule an entire nation.
Choose from many different races and professions. You decide your own style of playing and whether to focus on PvP or PvE, both sharing the same game world. Devote your life to crafting, combat, magic or trading. Discover new skills, tools and resources. Or be the first to explore new areas to put your name on the map.
Much to Star Vault's annoyance, Mortal Online's most well-known feature is its uncompromising full frontal nudity.
The one big question you have left is the one most prominently bequeathed by Call of Pripyat's storied predecessors. Is it broken?Amazingly the answer, this time, is no. That's not to say it's completely flawless - I experienced a couple of crashes to the desktop, and co-ordinating anything with the slightly clumsy AI actions can still be a grind. But essentially the experience is bug-free.
STALKER. Unbroken, without being modded. If you're a fan, this is basically what you've been waiting for - a fully functioning STALKER which combines the best aspects of Shadow of Chernobyl and Clear Sky and polishes them to a slightly creaky charm.
Only the slight sensation of datedness prevents this from scoring higher, and no doubt once the mods start flowing the value for money will get even better. But there's plenty here to keep the faithful feeling extremely optimistic about the prospect of a proper sequel. And there's still nothing out there quite like STALKER.
A benchmark application has been available for some time, letting you see how the new game runs on your rig.
Update: A few people wrote in asking where S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call Of Pripyat is on sale in North America. As always, the answer is Amazon.
What gamers request most is better control in-game, and today Microsoft Hardware launches the SideWinder X4 Keyboard, a keyboard designed to give gamers more control over their gaming experience with the industry’s most advanced anti-ghosting technology. Developed by the Applied Sciences Group, this new technology ensures gamers’ most complex key combinations will be recognized by the computer to keep the game in action. The new keyboard also offers other advanced gaming features such as macro recording, mode and profile switching, and adjustable backlighting.I Ain’t Afraid Of No Ghost
The Applied Sciences Group, an interdisciplinary research and development team that works across the Microsoft Entertainment & Devices Division doing applied research for Microsoft Hardware, Microsoft Surface and Xbox 360, developed the anti-ghosting technology with gamers in mind. The advanced technology takes anti-ghosting to the next level by allowing gamers to press up to 26 keys at once. Because each key is scanned independently by the keyboard hardware, each key press is correctly detected regardless of how many other keys are being pressed at the same time. The SideWinder X4 Keyboard excels where other keyboards fail, letting users execute key combinations and taking full advantage of their skill and speed.
“We’re always looking for new and novel ways to enhance people’s interactions with their PCs,” said Steven Bathiche, research manager of the Applied Sciences Group at Microsoft. “We know that ghosting can be a problem for gamers, so we wanted to develop a way to eliminate this issue and improve the overall gaming experience, and we’ve succeeded with the new anti-ghosting technology in the SideWinder X4 Keyboard.”
Precise Gaming Keyboard With Advanced Features
The SideWinder X4 Keyboard also offers more of the features gamers need to stay at the top of their game. Macro recording lets them string together multiple moves into one press of a button, and the new automatic macro repetition feature lets them repeat the macro over and over as needed with one key. Mode and profile switching also provides easy ways to customize the keyboard for different games and users while adjustable backlighting lets gamers select the lighting level that meets their needs.
Pricing & Availability
The SideWinder X4 Keyboard will be available in March 2010 for the estimated retail price of $59.95 (U.S) and will be available for pre-sale on Amazon.com later this week. The SideWinder X4 Keyboard is backed by a worldwide three-year limited hardware warranty.
