Issue 161 is up!

This week, Severlin answered questions about Two Handed Weapons, as well as the issue of corpses not dissolving, and also talked about the future possibility of adjusting some quest timers. Django addressed more concerns about the "Armor Swapping" system, and also talked about the new Gearknight Fortress. Frelorn announced a bonus XP weekend, from November 25th through the 30th, all quest xp will be boosted by 50%!

Issue 160 is up!

This week's questions mainly revolved around the item mentioned last week in Severlin's Producer's Letter: The ability to move spells and armor value from one item of armor to another (same slot) kind of armor, allowing for player customization. There seems to be some confusion, and some controversy about this system, so the issues were addressed by Severlin and Django.

Additionally, the Asheron's Call Video Contest winners were announced. Congratulations to Connor the Craftmaster, An Adventurer, and Damien Sarin for their winning entries!

Issue 159 is up!

First, my apologies for this being late. The hard drive in my computer died, and I had to wait for a new one to be shipped and installed. Sorry! (And yes, I was going through withdrawl! :D )

So, another busy week! The big news came in the form of a Producer's Letter, where it was announced that Severlin was the new Asheron's Call Producer! Congratulations, Sev! Severlin's letter prompted many questions, and he and Django were busy answering those questions. Also the hotfix issues were discussed, Severlin talked at length about the trinkets, and the Pumpkin Carving Contest winners were announced!

Hot off the RSS Feed: Letter from the Producer

With the 10th Anniversary which just landed upon us, apparently some people have been looking for evidence of a clear direction for where AC is going. Well, Turbine is listening and has posted the first Letter from the Producer (and you'll all be pleased to know that Severlin got promoted to producer - grats!) in a few months. Issue 158 is up!

As expected, it was a very busy week on the forums! Lots and lots of questions about the new patch content, most of which were regarding Gearcrafting and Two-Handed weapon skill.

One thing to note: A bug was found with the gearcrafted trinkets that may affect you:

"The crafting tables will not allow players to add a minor imbue after a major and moderate are added." - more information is here, and in the column. The best thing for players to do for now, is to imbue one major, one moderate, and then leave it until next patch.

Additionally, Monday's patch fixed the 40001 error players get when trying to re-subscribe over the internet. Good news!

Welcome to the Third Anniversary Issue!

On October 27, 2006, the first issue of TwwT came out, and every week since then I've brought the news from Turbine to AC Vault. In a bit of Serendipity, the Third Anniversary of this column coincides with the 10th Anniversary patch for Asheron's Call!

This is easily the largest issue to date, and rightfully so! There were lots of posts about Gearcrafting, many questions and answers, as well as discussions about other areas of the upcoming patch and celebrations.

I've included in this issue Monday's posts as well, since they lead up to the patch and I'm sure next week will have plenty of discussion after the patch goes live!

I would like to thank everyone at Turbine, for making a wonderful game that has entertained me personally for 10 years, and for being so willing to engage the playerbase in discussion, and answering questions on the forums. I think if asked, players would say that one of the best things a game company can do is communicate with the playerbase, and Turbine has really been great in this area in the past few years. Understandably, not every single post or question can be addressed (the developers do have to actually work on the game!), but it is very much appreciated when the developers take time out to post on the forums!

I would also like to thank everyone who reads the column every week, and those who always have a kind word to say every week, or just a "Thank you". As the column enters its fourth year, the game we love enters a new era in its second decade. May we have many more years to come!

Issue 156 is up!

As we get closer to the 10th Anniversary patch, more information is coming out. Severlin discussed the Quest Journal interface, and discussed both the 40001 Error issues, and the problems that some players have when using a computer with an nVidia Series 8 video card. NoWorries talked about the empty chest bug some players are still experiencing, and explained why a "Global Reset" for all servers would be a very bad thing.

Also this week: There are two contests going on, a Pumpkin Carving Contest, and an AC Video Contest. The big news is that the Video contest winner will receive a Lifetime Subscription to Asheron's Call! Second and third prizes are also very nice - One Year subscription, and Six Months subscription, respectively. Full rules and conditions are in my column.

And, since it has been a good 4 months since someone asked, Frelorn again answered the often-asked question of why they won't bring back the XP levers on Darktide. Frelorn's response: "They did bad, bad things to the server."

As the 10th Anniversary Patch grows closer, the questions asked mostly seem to center on the various items that will be implemented. Severlin discussed the new Augmentations, hinted that we may be getting another character slot with the 10th Anniversary, and also talked about the differences between Dark Isle and Graveyard.

NoWorries talked about the new Gear Shield, and Frelorn discussed the future possibility of seeing a 10% health bonus that equals the TOD Pre-Order Gem of several years ago.

Issue 151 is up!

This week Frelorn gave a the long-awaited answer as to when the 10th Anniversary Patch will be going live (late October), as well as updating folks on the re-subscription error, saying good news about that should be coming soon! Severlin explained the mechanics behind Deathtail and how to avoid having your bait get taken, and NoWorries addressed the types of monsters that drop the new tier of loot, and why some high level monsters do, and some don't.
