Winter Style Inspiration
Need some inspiration for your new season wardrobe? I made a Winter Style moodboard, even if it is only to weep over the beautiful things I’ll never be able to afford. So this is what I would look like if I was a few thousand dollars richer! I’m sure I’d be able to somehow legitimize these gorgeous, gorgeous finds… but I guess I’ll just have to suffer. I give you these looks, so that you may have your heart broken…
Next week I’ll post a Winter Wish List of things we can afford!

Shourouk
I have a slight obsession with Shourouk, she’s french and her jewellery is stunning!
Made up of sequins and crystals, handstiched, they’re little pieces of art right out of a magical fairy tale world. Shourouk describes them as: Completely embroidered by hand, my jewels are a mixture of luxury and poetry, a touch of chic. Team her sequin and beaded necklaces and brooches with a dress for a truely unique look. Find them at luisaviaroma.com.

New, Improved FBWL!
Well it was about time… From Betsy with Love’s facelift is almost done! I still have a few pages to finish but I can’t stand to see any more HTML code this week! I would love to hear what you think…
Really, I want to know your thoughts, not only about the design but also about the content… How do you think I could improve FBWL? Do you want more interaction, a forum, a Flickr group, a newsletter…? What do you want to know more about? What do you not really care about? I mean, do you REALLY want to see my wish lists? Would you like to see more art articles, fashion article, my daily outfits? Interviews? Videos? Podcasts? Longer or shorter articles? This is your blog too. The whole point of it is that I give you what YOU want. So what do you want?

Upside Down
UPDATE: I’m not sure what is happening, but luck has not been on my side the past few week. First I accidentally cut off the tip of my finger, then I almost got run over by a car and last but not least this weekend we had dinner in the Atomium and I decided to have Steak tartar for the first time in my life and got infected by the Salmonella bacteria. Trust me you don’t want to get Salmonellosis… Urgh!
Anyhow… I seem to be feeling a little bit better today and I’m trying to finish the new design. Maybe I’ll post a sneak peak tomorrow. I hope to be back after the weekend with a new and fresh FBWL. Thank you all for your patience and understanding. See you soon!
Pardon the mess, my dears readers. I’m trying to give FBWL a bit of a facelift, and it might look a little upside down here! Oh and… I am so behind on my comments, my emails, and my posts, I am going to try and catch up…
I promise to resume my normal blogging when this is all done…
Love, Betsy.

Russian Blue
I work from home so i’ve been spending a lot of time alone and i would love a little compnanion. We live in an apartment and i don’t want to go out to walk a dog 4 times a day, so a puppy is out of the question. Fish, Birds, no animals in small cages! What about a kitty? I’ll have to make sure that we’d have someone to babysit if we both had to be out of town (that isn’t a problem), and i know my boyfriend visits and i’ve got a birthday coming up in Oktober… A great gift would be a beautiful little Russian Blue!

The Frock
OMG! I think I’ve found my all time favorite vintage shop, until I’ve visited them all I can’t possibly say that without a doubt… But when Dita Von Tees says it’s her favorite place for vintage you can assume it’s the best!
The Frock, owned by Christian Madrigal, is THE shop for anybody wanting to buy designer couture, Marlene Dietrich’s castoffs or beautiful vintage clothing for nearly every fashion decade.I’m in love, if I only had the money I would buy everything!!! I can see myself totally rocking these clothes… Enjoy!

Art by Mia
Just look at all these beautiful goddesses! These paintings make me want to draw and paint again… I start drawing classes in September. Yay, I’m so excited to get started again! Maybe I’ll share some of my own work in the future…
I think Mia’s surreal work is very intriguing and has such a deep sense of spirituality. She shows all the layers within these beautiful woman - spirits, inner demons, conflicting emotions, the imagination, personal mythologies… Our identities are so complex and Mia paints it so beautifully! What would your portrait show? Spiders, demons, roses?!…

7. I’ve never had a cup of coffee. Eeek just the smell of it!
8. I chewed my nails to BITS up until I was 21.
9. I have 6 - 10 more kilo’s to gain to get to my ideal weight.

My Dream House
In the late 1940s, Duquette and his wife built their home “Dawnridge”. Duquette’s love of the exotic and the eccentric is certainly evidenced by the interior decoration of the home. The pictures below were taken in the 1980s and show the house as Duquette had decorated it. Duquette passed away in 1999 at the age of 85, but his legacy lives on through Hutton Wilkinson, who still creates fine jewelry and home furnishings collections inspired by designs he and Tony Duquette created together.
If you love Duquette style (like I do) here are some books you will like There are heaps of pictures of Duquette’s designs for interiors, theatre, jewellery and museum exhibitions on the Tony Duquette website, but for the moment, here are some images of the Duquettes’ mighty house Dawnridge in Beverley Hills…
