Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed to USAToday that New Super Mario Bros. Wii which debuted at E3 two weeks ago will be the first of many products to include his new "demo play" feature.

Having been rumored for some time, "demo play" allows the player to pause the game, select an option, and have the game essentially play itself to get past a tricky or difficult section. Read More »

Square Enix fans hold onto your hats: It looks like the classic PlayStation release from 1998 -- Final Fantasy Tactics -- is pegged to hit the PlayStation Network in the not-too-distant future according to a news article posted on One Last Continue yesterday.

The piece uses a new entry on the ESRBs website as proof that Sony Computer Entertainment America will be the publisher. Read More »

Prepare to Make Your Own Fall Videos

I was quite the skateboarding enthusiast a few years back -- and after getting the chance to see and play Tony Hawk: Ride recently, I had a few important things that I wanted to ask Activision about the upcoming game and its crazy pack-in skateboard peripheral. I was able to get executive producer Scott Krager on the line to (kind of) field my questions. Below are his company-line answers -- and my thoughts on what's to come from Ride and its controversial controller. Read More »

Forecast for December: Tropical Climes, Four-player Co-op, Giant Monsters

By Gerald Villoria | Xbox 360 Previews | Jun 12, 2009 4:12 PM | Comment

Lost Planet 2 will take place a few years after the events of Lost Planet, which (big spoiler here) includes the melting of all that snow. You'll see tropical environments aplenty, with actual greens and other slices of the color spectrum instead of the oppressive white, grays and browns of the planet's cavernous underground regions.

While the environmental changes are nice, the coolest thing I saw is that Lost Planet 2 will feature four-player cooperative play. Groups of friends can work together to take down enormous bosses that will put the massive baddies from the last game to shame. Read More »

This one's for history's forgotten taco-bearing Shamans.

The Flintlocke saga continues in Flintlocke vs. The Horde, the follow-up to GameSpy's original World of Warcraft webcomic. Prepare for action, drama, l33t drops and funny accents, though probably not in that order. Read More »

May's NPD numbers are out and the recession is really showing on this month's sales. May 2009 numbers were down 23% from May 2008's numbers, with hardware dropping 30%, to $302.5 million. Console winners were pretty much what you'd expect, with Nintendo keeping its lead, while a surprising piece of software took number one. For the numbers, just keep reading. Read More »

And You Thought the Power Glove Was Bad

By Luke McKinney | Humor | Jun 12, 2009 11:00 AM | Comment

Some people don't see the point in playing videogames. Whether they miss the sublime beauty of turning a number into a slightly bigger number or remain blissfully unaware of the Martian Orc-Locust invasion scheduled for 2012, most just call games a waste of time before going back to discussing "Lost." And when you look at some of the insane controllers that manufacturers have designed over the years, you might start to wonder if maybe these people have a point. Read More »

When Halo 3: ODST was announced at the end of 2008 Bungie went on the record stating that the game wouldn't cost the usual full price of $60. However, last week's E3 convention told a different story and when details of pricing emerged, the regular price tag of $59.99 was seen to be associated with the game.

Joystiq touched base with Microsoft to get an official take on why things have now apparently changed. Read More »

The pack features four new maps, one of which is a new Nazi Zombie map. Read More »

Billie Joe et al Prep to Rock Out

By Bryn Williams | Xbox 360 News | Jun 12, 2009 2:41 AM | Comment

Reports of a fully fledged Green Day Rock Band game flooded in earlier this week and as it turns out, were only half right.

Harmonix, MTV Games and Reprise Records have now announced that Green Day downloadable content packs will be hitting Rock Band early next month, nixing the notion that a full retail game would arrive sporting the band's work. Read More »

We Require Only a Moment of Your Time

By GameSpy Staff | The GameSpy Debriefings | Jun 11, 2009 4:01 PM | Comment

This week we bring you a very short podcast. Will's out on a post-E3 vacation, and the rest of our staff hasn't moved out to the bay. Despite Ryan and Anthony's best efforts, no one wants to be their friend and podcast with them, so they're left alone on this one.

Despite being down to two men, Ryan and Anthony find plenty to talk about regarding the games they checked out at E3, going over some games that surprised and some that disappointed. Combine this with the regular nerdy banter and you have what will (hopefully) be an entertaining half-hour. Enjoy! Read More »

As we look towards the June 19 release of the next Bayformers film, Activision and developer Luxoflux prepare for the launch of their videogame tie-in, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, shortly thereafter. If you played the first game, you may be inclined to immediately divert your attention elsewhere on the Internet, perhaps to some funny feline-related pictures, but just hold on a second. Would you believe me if I said that the next Transformers game may actually be a lot of fun? Trust me, I was as shocked as you are right now when I discovered this first-hand. Read More »
