Army of Two: The 40th Day Doesn't Ask, Won't Tell

PlayStation 3 News | May 1, 2009 06:36 PDT | Comment

Ace and Ga...wait, what's that? Oh, excuse me, Rios and Salem return for what we can only assume will be more tandem parachuting and back to back gunplay in Army of Two: The 40th Day. Unlike many trailers, the first official one for the game actually gives us a bit of background on the story and setting. It seems that a particularly nasty militia group called The 40th Day is wreaking havoc in Shanghai, and it's up to our heroes to save the day once again. Preferably while getting paid, of course. Humor | May 1, 2009 05:25 PDT | Comment

We've miraculously unearthed five informative pamphlets provided by leading fictional health organizations and corporate sponsors that can shed some much-needed light on diseases that are a lot scarier than this silly swine flu business. The Angry Bear #10: Goodbye, Farewell and Amen

The Angry Bear | May 1, 2009 04:11 PDT | Comment

Change sucks. Oh, we in the Western world like to brag about how we master change, how we live for the new and the different and take it all in stride but the truth is, we don't. We eventually adapt and absorb it but any change -- even a good one -- is always a wrenching one. The feedback on the new site design and editorial direction shows that, with the e-mails running about half and half between "I love it" and "You guys suck, go back to the old stuff!" If you haven't seen me much on the site in the past three weeks it's because I've been absorbing some massive changes in my own life and coming to grips with a number of decisions that have resulted in the column I never wanted to write: my farewell to GameSpy. The Punch is Not Spiked: More PS3 Demoscene Action

PlayStation 3 News | May 1, 2009 02:52 PDT | Comment

Last year's Linger in Shadows offered the average console gamer a completely different experience than anything else on PSN. For legions of PS3 owners it was an introduction to the demoscene, a vibrant underground movement that's been around for decades. It was also a handy way to clean up on some good trophies, another reason why many people picked it up. Whatever the reason for playing was, it was a success. Sony has teamed up with .theprodukkt (known for .kkrieger, an amazing-looking 96 kilobyte FPS demo) to create .deTuned, a new demoscene-driven interactive experience. Read More »

Capcom to PC Gamers: We Haven't Forgotten You

PC News | May 1, 2009 11:36 PDT | Comment

Capcom's come a long way in the PC space. Those lackluster ports of two or three years ago -- Resident Evil 4, anyone? -- are headshake-inducing memories But Capcom made an about-face with its solid port of Devil May Cry 4, and today announced another Windows-bound blockbuster. Alongside the previously announced versions of Bionic Commando and Street Fighter IV, Resident Evil 5 is now confirmed for PC. All three games, according to Capcom's press blast, are coming this year. Both SF4 and Bionic Commando will drop in July, while RE5 will come out at an unconfirmed later date. Read More »

Meet Eddie Riggs, the World's Greatest Roadie and the man that will save an ancient land. That's exactly what you'll do in this new trailer for Doublefine's Brutal Legend, a game that's sure to be a most excellent experience. The last few days have seen a number of new screens and very important announcements (Lemmy's in the game?!? F*ck yeah!), but none of them can top the sheer awesomeness of this trailer. Is it due to the fact that Motley Crue's "Dr. Feelgood" is playing over it? All signs point to yes!< Read More »

Arkham Inmates to Remain in Lockdown?

Xbox 360 News | May 1, 2009 06:45 PDT | Comment

A troubling rumortoid arrives from GI, which is essentially throwing doubt over the June 23rd release date of Eidos' Batman: Arkham Asylum. According to the piece, sources have indicated that the highly promising action-adventure game could have its general release date pushed back to later in the year, specifically Q4.

"The game's official website simply lists a summer timeframe. Today sources close to the game told Game Informer that the release date was being pushed until the fourth quarter of 2009." Read More »

Over 15 months later, the developer is still releasing top-notch DLC for the popular online racer. Today, word's come in that the new Cops and Robbers pack is officially available.

The Real Wolverine Exposed

Xbox 360 News | May 1, 2009 06:06 PDT | Comment

Activision is all about helping the environment. Specifically, the giant videogame publisher likes to help preserve the planet's wildlife. To prove this the company has officially become the sponsor (for one year) of a cute real-life wolverine which resides in Edinburgh Zoo, Scotland.

This of course has nothing to do with the fact that Activision Blizzard's X-Men Origins: Wolverine just launched today in the UK. Okay, it's got everything to do with it. They even forced the poor animal to officially change its name to Logan. Read More »

From the crazed hivemind behind the classically Japanese and very bizarre Katamari Damacy series comes an all-new movie trailer. Namco's Katamari Forever on the PlayStation 3 sees the King of all Cosmos' son, the Prince, take to the streets one more time with his magical Katamari. Rolling up everything is his path is the aim of the game so we'll just let the video do the rest of the talking. Hit the jump and watch out for those tricky cows. Read More »

Valve Sues Activision, Readies Army of Combine Troops

News | May 1, 2009 04:29 PDT | Comment

Legal rumblings are occurring between Valve Software and Activision Blizzard this week up in Seattle. Valve has apparently filed suit against the mega-publisher, which is refusing to honor an award decision based on a 2002 dispute over royalties. GamePolitics picked up on the story, which stems from an old royalties case between Valve and the now-defunct Sierra Entertainment.

"Activision cut Valve a check last week for $1,967,796 - the amount handed down by the arbitrator less the disputed $424K. According to Valve's suit, Activision said that it wouldn't pay the rest and if Valve went to court Activision would countersue. Valve has apparently called Activision's bluff and the parties are now once again at odds." Read More »

Pripyat Calling, Line One

PC News | May 1, 2009 03:06 PDT | Comment

A couple of weeks ago we reported about a new game in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. franchise being confirmed by GSC Game World's Sergey Grigorovitch. The news came in from a few different Russian-based sources, but only today has official word come in that S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat will be the third game in the series and hit PC later this autumn.

"The events of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat unfold shortly after the end of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl. Having discovered about the open path to the Zone center, the government decides to hold a large-scale military "Fairway" operation aimed to take the CNPP under control." Read More »
