No further details were offered, though Activision did say that CoD is one of their biggest money-spinners, and that they expect Call of Duty 6: Modern Warfare 2 to spin just as well as past instalments once released towards the end of 2009.

New conflicts are on the horizon for one of the most intense online multiplayer games of 2008, as Activision Publishing, Inc. and developer Treyarch, announced plans today to release Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 1. Due out in March, Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 1 will take Xbox 360, PLAYSTATION 3 computer entertainment system and Windows PC fans to the streets of a war-ravaged Berlin in "Nightfire," deep into deadly jungles to attack fortified Japanese positions in "Knee Deep" and through a bombed out underground subway system in "Station." The Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 1 will also expand upon the fan-favorite four-player co-op Nazi Zombie bonus mode with "Verruckt" (Zombie Asylum) - a fourth map that features more weapons, new Perks-a-Cola machines, electroshock defenses and endless, attacking legions of undead.
No pricing was announced, but expect the pack to cost no more than $10.
The success of Call of Duty 4 doesn't mean Infinity Ward can rest easy with its next title. The developer plans to focus even more on multiplayer going forward, but not at the expense of its single-player campaigns, which Bowling says the team takes intense pride in and would not sacrifice for multiplayer development time. One of the company's initiatives going forward is to place more of an emphasis on post-launch support in future games. By releasing downloadable content and retaining its tight relationship with the Call of Duty community, Activision and Infinity Ward can keep the game alive for longer than comparable shooters.
"We have a two-year shelf life. Personally I want to go beyond that," Bowling says. "I would like to extend that to three years, maybe even four years."

We hope that rumors of a new zombie level being included in the first Call of Duty: World at War DLC map pack wasnt what sent you into a recent frenzy. Nazi Zombies scare us too, which is why wed like to give you a heads-up to stay tuned for official word regarding upcoming DLC. Yes, there will be a new wave of undead coming soon and while we appreciate everyones concern (and we dont condone vandalism) we assure you that these zombies will only be found in the Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack. Stay tuned for more details!
Regards,
Your friends on the Call of Duty: World at War team.
It is clear that some of you are experiencing problems with the 1.2 patch. First, we apologize for any additional inconvenience this has caused. After some time reviewing the feedback, it is clear there are two main issues.
Audio Problems:
A select number of Vista users are reporting that all sound in the game is no longer audible after patching to 1.2. We will be including a permanent solution in our 1.3 patch. In the mean time, a work-around fix has been discovered:
Method A:
Right-click on the Volume icon in the taskbar (next to the clock, looks like a speaker)
Select Playback Devices
Right-click on your preferred playback device (i.e. Speakers, Headphones, etc.)
Select Properties, then click the Advanced tab
Set the Default Format here to 16bit,44100Hz(CD Quality)
Note: You may reach the same menu in Method A through Control Panel > Sound.
Method B - Advanced users only (perform at your own risk!):
Right-click on My Computer and select Manage
Select Device Manager and expand Sound, video, and games controllers
Uninstall listed Audio Drivers then reboot the computer
Vista will now auto-reinstall the on-board sound
Default Format is now set to 16bit,44100Hz(CD Quality) automatically
Please note that setting your audio quality to 16-bit will not impact your Call of Duty: World at War gaming experience. The game will sound just as good as it did before, as our sounds are mixed at 16-bit.
Mod Problems:
While HTTP Redirect is fixed (so you can download custom maps + mods from the web, in-game) it appears some mods may no longer be functional after patching to 1.2. At first glance this would appear to be a new bug, but after some digging we determined this problem is actually with the mods themselves, and here is why:
In the process of addressing issues for Patch 1.2, we had to add new DVARs to the game for development purposes. Modders, you know what we mean when we say DVARs. =) There is a hard limit to the number of server DVARs that can be used, for network latency (lag) reasons. So when you run a mod, the game DVARs load first, then the mod DVARs come second. If the additional mod DVARs exceed that hard limit, it will not load. That was the problem in a nutshell with todays 1.2 compatibility. Since we added additional DVARs, the mods spilled over that max limit.
The solution for modders use server DVARs sparingly. When possible, set client DVARs. There is no guarantee we wont add more DVARs in the future as these are a core component to our development process, so you want to prune down your DVARs as much as possible to avoid future compatibility hassles. We support and maintain our mod tools however, we are not able to maintain compatibility with mods, nor is this our responsibility. By definition, a mod is user-generated content and must conform to the technical limits of the game.
We have already begun work on a 1.3 patch which is slated to release this month as well. Along with /record, we will include a more permanent fix for the audio issues.
More update will follow.
Stay tuned to Planet Call of Duty for more bug fixing fun...

Sound off on the patch - does it include something wonderful? Is something broken? Should it have included other, more important changes, such as further map exploit fixes? Should hot-fixes be released for those game-spoiling exploits that still remain? Let us know!
