We got everything done that needed doing yesterday, and even found my gift for my daughter at the price I was looking. She's getting a nice new bookcase for her room, and she needs it! She's a voracious reader and her room is just chock full of books, so this will definitely come in handy. It's all real wood too, and I got it for 100 bucks! We even got her stocking stuff taken care of, so yesterday was a good day.

It's going to be one helluva Monday! We got the tree up last night and some of the decorations, but there's more to do and we have to do it tonight so that everything is ready for tomorrow night when we have my wife's Grandmother and Grandfather over for dinner. They're getting a couple of my Flintstonian sirloins and then we'll take a tour of the holiday lights they put up for the "Festival of Lights" here in Niagara Falls. Last year's displays were very kool and this year should be just as nice. I just hope there's snow to make it all look great. We've had nothing but rain for a couple days now and it's pretty ugly out there.

I'm feeling way better today and all I've got left from being sick is the sniffles. That means I'll get a whack of stuff done today and considering I have a ton to get done, this is a good thing. I�ve got the sites to do this morning and then some family Christmas stuff to do like getting the tree up. Usually my wife takes care of this for me, but she's been working so much I said I'd give it a shot. I won't be able to do the lights though, so we'll be doing that tonight. Tomorrow night is my Christmas shopping trip #1, so I have to get in shape for that as well. I wonder if putting an air horn on my wheelchair would help? I think that would freaking rock!

New Wolfenstein Juice!

There's a fresh bit of info and some new screenshots available at 1Up today as they got the chance to talk about the upcoming new Wolfenstein with Raven's Creative Director, Eric Biessman! The new treats include info on how Raven and id Software are working together on the title as well as more specifics on gameplay and the storyline. Don't miss this one gang! 1UP: In past demonstrations of the game, Raven personnel have discussed the idea of the "expansive environment" as one of the things that Wolfenstein is pushing; can you elaborate on what that means, and how does that affect the level design?
EB: Similar to previous games in the series, Wolfenstein thrusts the player into the role of BJ Blazkowicz, a hardened OSA soldier sent to deal with the strange experiments that the Nazis have up their sleeves. This time around, the Nazis have discovered a strange power source near the fictional German city of Isenstadt. It's in and around the city that BJ battles the Nazis, working to stop them from realizing their terrible plans. The idea behind the expansive environment is that as BJ [progresses] through the game and the story, new areas and missions open up, offering him the choice of exploration and how he approaches obstacles and combat within the city. If BJ is under heavy fire from an emplaced gun, he may decide to rush the weapon in a straight assault. If he doesn't think that'll work, he could take to the rooftops and drop down behind the emplacement. Or, perhaps he wants to avoid the situation entirely, dropping through a nearby manhole to bypass the emplacement altogether. Really, the main goal of the game is to offer the player enough choice to suit his needs while still driving an immersive and exciting story and world.

I've been up all night, and I'm basically on "vampire time" with this cold/flu/whatever. I sleep during the day and roam the house moaning like a thirsty blood sucker during the night. At least my wife found a good deal on tissues, or I'd feel bad going through a box and a half per day. I'm almost to the point where snorting drain cleaner sounds like a good idea except for the whole death thing.

Today is the return of the sick! I had one of those nights where you're either too warm or too cold with body aches and a stuffed up head and full chest. I just sat down with Mrs. Pappy to try and figure out when we could do some Christmas shopping, and it looks like Monday night is my only shot! This is going to get interesting because I have to shop for my wife and daughter while they're both in the same mall. I may have to rent a "stealth" wheelchair for the event so I can cruise without being detected. BTW, Christmas shopping in a wheelchair isn't as bad as it sounds. I just let out a hearty "excuse me" and barrel right on through the pack!

OK I'm doing a lot better today than yesterday. It was a downward spiral until last night when my fever broke and I got some decent sleep. I'm a little off my game today, but at least I'm sitting here without wishing I wasn't, and that, as Martha would say, is a good thing! Now let me see what I can find to tell you all about. Game on!
