October 21, 2008 - Your typical United States based UFO close-encounter story usually involves the same setting and cast of characters. An open plain of backwoods country populated with cows and your average buck-toothed, slack jawed farmer. Not exactly prime writing material for an episode of X-Files. In the UK however, some of the best UFO sightings ever recorded are being released for the first time by the Ministry of Defense, in a effort to give the public a chance to view the findings for themselves and give their own interpretation of the information. October 20, 2008 - Trying to censor live broadcasting of any kind has always been an issue, and in some cases, practically impossible. Live TV, for example, is forced to run on a delay of seven seconds or more to give producers the opportunity to catch f-bombs from witty rappers that want to liven up their award ceremony acceptance speeches. While in the gaming world, services like Xbox LIVE and Team Speak have practically no defense in the war on profanity terrorism. But a new patent awarded to Microsoft may finally give little Johnny's ears a rest next time he melee's a foul-mouthed Covenant in Halo 3. More »
October 20, 2008 - We aren't exactly fond of wearing our passions, especially when they are based solely on dragons, first-person-shooters, and lightsabers--it just doesn't put out the right vibe to the opposite sex. But occasionally there comes a series of nerd-inspired clothing that says: "I live in my parent's basement, but I clean up nice." One such example is the latest line of officially licensed Star Wars clothing from Marc Ecko. More »

October 20, 2008 - Much like the music stored on the inside, the outside of the iPod can say a lot about its owner. Thanks to Limited Edition runs of iPod's that range from the hilarious (The Simpson's "Homer Tested" iPod Touch) to the disturbing (Beverly Hills 90210 iPod Nano), users have had no problem finding one to match their personality and style. For those of us old enough to remember the joy of riding Yellow Submarines and going down to Strawberry Fields, this holiday season finally brings the iPod we've been waiting for, as long as we do our shopping at Bloomingdale's. October 18, 2008 - When November 1st rolls around in just a few weeks, Nintendo will launch the Nintendo DSi system to the Japanese market. For those that missed the original announcement, the Nintendo DSi is the "next generation" of the DS platform – it is what the Nintendo DS Lite was to the original Nintendo DS: a significant remodel and upgrade. But unlike the Nintendo DS Lite, the Nintendo DSi actually adds brand new functions beyond the slight form adjustment: built into every unit are two digital cameras (one forward facing, one gamer facing) as well as internal writeable media and the addition of an SD card slot for digital downloads. So this is more than just a subtle update. But where there were additions, one feature had to fall: the DSi removes the Game Boy Advance cartridge slot from the handheld. While many of you might not miss such an expansion port, as you'll read in the next few pages the removal is more significant than you might realize. More »

October 18, 2008 - Back in the day, gamer "style" consisted of whatever felt comfortable enough to wear while sitting in front of your TV for 16 hours a day. Such fare would typically include baggy shorts, loose shirts, and socks. But now with the mainstream spotlight shedding a new, fashionable light on the culture, gamer clothing has become far more stylish. This sentiment has shed into an influx of gamer-themed clothing at retailers nationwide like Urban Outfitters. The most recent example comes from California-based G8 Brand, which takes its designs directly from retro-favorites like Pong and Space Invaders. More »
