Joe Biden, self-appointed workingclass hero, would like us to believe that we have entered the next Great Depression. That way, he and Barack Obama will get elected. Yes, there are serious financial problems on Wall St. at the moment. But in important way the US economy is strong. We have a talented and hardworking labor force (including immigrants), innovative small businesses (unless taxes and regulations become too burdensome), abundant domestic energy resources (if we permit them to be tappied), the best universities and researchers in the world, etc. So don't let the Obama/Biden team panic you into thinking that our economy has crumbled. It hasn't.

If Biden thinks that McCain is wrong I bet he's living good in a big house like Obama is and all the other senator's. So where is the crisis? Its in the stock market and wrong investments. Wrong decision making causes destruction. It has nothing to do with the economy. If people invested in the stock market that's their problem not the problems of the president. In my surrounding area there condo's being built all around and developer's are buying up the multi-units for conversion. And they are being bought up. So if the economy is that bad people would not be able to buy. Investor's are suffering because they made wrong decisions in the investing. Everyone blames the president. Don't buy what you can't afford and you won't suffer.

In my opinion, McCain was trying to calm the fears of the average American today when he said the economy was fundamentally sound....he went on to address the seriousness of the situation and promised to enact reform and regulation. So, for all of those making fun of McCain for making that statement, I see it not as being out of touch, but just a way of trying to stop the panic that most of us feel who are invested in a 40lK. Obama on the other hand offered nothing except to blame Bush and say that McCain would be another Bush. Please, that is not what we want to hear.

Yes those things are true... and will it bounce back? Yes, it always does and I think most people know/understand that. But do people care NOW? Can you rationalize that to someone who's lost their home/job/etc? No. I have many friends who, as "Mariann" above would like you to believe, were NOT living above their means by any stretch. Obviously it's a mess, it's more complicated and involved than the average person can grasp AND going to take a lot of work, but I think McCain isn't on point. Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari has apparently revealed that the centerpiece of Barack Obama's conversation with Iraqi leaders in July was his hope of delaying the draw-down of American military forces in Iraq. Zebari's recounts that Obama "asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement until after the US elections and the formation of a new administration in Washington." Obama also reportedly insisted that Congress steer negotiations on the time-table of troops withdrawal, rather than the Bush administration, which he described as being in a "state of weakness and political confusion."

Obama's campaign has denied these accounts of his visit to Iraq. Such a private request for delayed troop reductions would run counter to Obama's public statements on Iraq, in which he calls for an immediate withdrawal. Further, an attempt to subvert the executive branch would be contrary to established U.S. foreign policy.

If Zebari's statements are discovered to be true, Obama would be guilty of the most unadulterated political profiteering and moral corruption in modern history. It would be a much better world if we'd all get the words from the horses mouth and tune out the bias of the news media.

Sorry but saying first the economy is sound is strikingly different. And he cleared up what he meant by "fundamentals are strong" later in his SECOND appearance for the day all while running an ad calling it a crisis which aired BEFORE the stock markets opened for the day. So no. He either has no idea what the hell is going on with either his campaign OR the actual economy or both. But who am I...? Bush told me for 8 years not to question anything.

Even in a good year working 12 hours a day my yearly income was only $30,000 for that year. The man wasn't even good at the military if he had been he would not have been captured. so just what is this pair good at? nothing in my book. They both live in a dark room, because they certainly don't know what is going on right under their noses. If they did they would not be saying the things they are saying.
