I would like to make everyone aware that the Zelda Contest has been held over by 24 hours. Originally, submissions were due by midnight tonight (meaning 12AM September 14th), but because I am out of town for the next day or so we will be accepting submissions until 11:59PM tonight. That means if you have a really neat idea for a stage, get the submission in tonight! Also look for our master list of submissions no later than 3PM PST tomorrow afternoon. I’d like to personally thank everyone who has entered thus far.
I would also like to take a moment to acknowledge some user run contests that have been advertised in the comments section. It’s always nice to see that our features have inspired our readership to create their own contests. Just remember that there are certain criteria and advantages to our official contests: They’re judged by SSBW staff members and prominently featured on our front page. Then again, unofficial contests can feature any theme, for example the recent kingdom hearts contest. Look for the results of the Zelda contest in the coming weeks and extra brownie points for those who guess the theme for the October contest!

Once again and we're back with another wiki spotlight feature, and today's is going to take a look at the stage of Yoshi's Island. The name may be similar but make no mistake, this is a brand new stage for Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It's also one of the more simpler stages the game has to offer, so for you players out there who like no frills stages, this one's for you. In the Spring of 2006, a small arts college actually had a Super Smash Bros. Melee course as one of their course offerings. It taught them the basics, the advanced techniques, and even provided in-depth video game lectures and discussions. Those included topics and concerns of video gaming in today's society such as addictions, censorships, and all kinds of things. Meetings lasted two and a half hours each week. One and a half hours during actual class-time schedules, and one outside regular class time for game practicing. The teacher would also provide all the necessary equipment for the class (Gamecubes, televisions, controllers, etc.). The course also encouraged all gamers and even non-gamers to attend the class.

Better late than never! This week's edition of Brawl Talk, now into its eighth iteration, has finally arrived, and we're going to use this great Saturday to talk some more Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

A Wii... laptop? Sounds nice, and I gotta say, it is. It's not really a "laptop", its design is based off of one. It's not like you can't surf the internet on it or anything, actually you could with the internet channel!.

Do some characters trip more than others? This is a topic that is being discussed on our Super Smash Bros forum right now! Users are sharing their statistics and some of them claim that characters like Ness and Diddy will trip more often. We're not sure if this is true but it sure does make for an interesting discussion.

Gunpei Yokoi was the president of Nintendo and the founder of the gameboy which revolutionized the handheld gaming market. He was also responsible for the creation of the Metriod and Kid Icarus franchises. Without him we'd never see Pit or Samus brawling it out in SSBB. With that in mind maybe it's time we all built a papercraft model of him?

It's a legendary item! Or at least, a pretty well known one. Today's featured Wiki article is the Fire Flower from the Mario franchise, which has also doubled as an item in Super Smash Bros for quite a while now.
