News Round-Up
09:06 | by David Shipley
It's time for another exciting issue of News Almost Worth
a Mention:
The official AvP Requiem
site has reverted to its previous, un-cool self. No new
layout. No movie poster. No 'new' release date of December
26th. What gives? The re-design was just a test--that must
be it. More news as we get it.
DailyTech
has an article about a traffic-control monitor that uses infrared.
The photo they use to illustrate is that of the
Predator. Thanks to Jim New for noticing.
The release date for Hot Toys' Power
Loader model kit has been changed to November, 2007.
Planet Call of Duty Re-Launch
14:28 | by David Shipley
Sister site Planet
Call of Duty wrapped up its re-launch extravaganza this
evening. It's all part of the Call of Duty 4 release,
and not a possible name-change to Planet Call of
Booty, as some have been suggesting.
Man, that's too bad. I had my "Baby, it's business time"
promo all set for the re-launch. They ignored all my letters.
RtCW Spotlight: Stalingrad Demo
11:18 | by Jube PlanetPhillip looks at the Stalingrad Demo for Return to Castle Wolfenstein in their latest golden oldy spotlight. Stalingrad Demo, also called 7000, was made before Vladimir Vovstein released the full blown addon of Stalingrad. This map is not in the Stalingrad full version, but it was included on the Operation Trondheim 3-Iron Cross CD as a teaser. You can check out the Stalingrad Demo and loads of screenshots here.
Modding AvP Requiem
13:09 | by David Shipley
A few of the more prominent AvP2 modders - Windebieste, Herr_Alien...hopefully
others - are urging the community to make more mods about
AvP Requiem. Sounds like a sweet idea to me! Look - they even
have a resource
thread to make it easier:
"If you are planning
on making mods, maps, models or skins for AvP2 based on
the AvP-R movie, please share and post online resources
here.
"This is a useful page that displays the Architecture of
the town of Gunnison:
"Feel free to post your own links to help assist mod Authors
gather information on custom projects."
Face it, if the AvP franchise was pebbles, Requiem would be
like a huge rock. We need to focus on - no, worship - the
rock. And that means putting the rock in the proverbial pipe-mod
for some serious smokay. And then we celebrate. AvP rules!

Ultimate Game Name Generator
11:34 | by Jube
There's a new Planetary hosted site in town called the Ultimate Game Name Generator, serving up names for your favourite FPS, RPG and Sim games. Included is The FPS Jerkinator for those times when you're feeling a bit feisty! From now on I will be known as "MonkeyWad". Since I'm also feeling kind of super, I took a Superhero name as my alterego to MonkeyWad, so you can also refer to me as "Aqua Frenzy". Check out the Ultimate Game Name Generator!
Alien, Predator Metallic 'Art'
11:32 | by David Shipley
No, they're not big. These are action-figure-sized sculptures
on sale at eBay. They're made out of scrap metal. There's
an Alien
sculpture and a Predator
one.
What do you think? You can call it art, I guess. They're bidding
for ten dollars right now, but there's still a week to go.
Thanks to BDjr for the tip.
