Our last poll titled " Best non-WoW MMO of 2007" started with Lord of the Rings Online firmly in the lead. Late in the game, a post on the Hellgate London forums spurred a barrage of posts pulling Hellgate London into the lead with 314 votes.

Swedish Magazine Details New Sunwell Print News | Category: World of Warcraft News - The Burning Crusade
The Swedish magazine Level just released their annual issue and Acadia sent a tip over to WoW Insider that contains a bunch of new information about patch 2.4, the Sunwell. - Sunwell Isle will be off the north coast of Silvermoon.
- Magister's Terrace will be the 5-man instance, and the Sunwell Plateau will be the 25-man raid, designed to close off the Burning Crusade storyline (although Kaplan admits there are a few more stories in progress in case they need to delay Wrath at all)
- There will be quests outside the dungeons, too, and they will tell the story of Tempest Keep
- And with those quests, there will be a new faction, called the "Shattered Sun Offensive."
- Finally, the limit of daily quests will raise in 2.4, from 10 to a whopping 25.

According to Gamasutra, Electronic Arts regrets investment in The9, Blizzard's partner for World of Warcraft in China. There were rumors in 2005 that Blizzard and its parent company Vivendi might acquire The9, but the partnership fell through at the last minute. With the EA investment, The9�s relationship with Blizzard turned from a friendly partnership into a pure business deal.

Blizzard Stands Against Real Money Transactions Print News | Category: World of Warcraft News
Major MMO makers like Funcom and SOE are on board with a new company called Live Gamer that promises to "legitimize" the real money trade of virtual goods, but World of Warcraft house Blizzard tells Next-Gen that it's still against the practice regardless. Free Oceanic Character Moves Print News | Category: World of Warcraft News
Blizzard will be offering free character moves from select high population Oceanic realms beginning December 20, at 12:01 PM PST. For more information on what realms will be eligible for these free moves and exact dates please visit the announcement post made here.
In the event that a realm meets their transfer goals before the scheduled end date, the transfers to that realm will be disabled. They highly recommend that if you are planning to transfer that you do so at your earliest convenience.

Over the holidays, on December 25th and January 1st, Blizzard will be performing a series of rolling restarts for all realms starting at 5:00 AM PDT, in lieu of weekly maintenance. Each realm is anticipated to be down for no more than 15 minutes, and should additional maintenance be necessary, we they will notify our players in advance. Have a happy holiday!

It's that time of year when all of Azeroth celebrates Winter Veil. The snowballs are flying and so are the reindeer. To help everyone get into the spirit, we are running two holiday contests!
The Royal Photographic Society of Azeroth has begun looking for the best depictions of holiday celebrations in the World of Warcraft, so keep your eyes open for good screenshot opportunities.
It's also time to show off your culinary skills. We're looking for your cakes, candies, cookies, and gingerbread houses of your best Warcraft-, StarCraft, or Diablo- inspired creations. We'll be picking five winners for the best cakes, five winners for the best candies or cookies, and five winners for the best gingerbread houses.

From GI: The Nielsen Company, which first started tracking videogame usage in the US this year, has released data for the period April to November 2007. Among PC game players, World of Warcraft was the clear favorite, with players averaging 1,023 minutes or just over 17 hours per week.
