One of the hazards with expansions, especially ones that increase the level cap, is making certain areas obsolete. Molten Core, Naxx, Onyxia, how often are these done anymore? The gear you can get in Outland is far superior. What will happen when Wrath of the Liche King comes out? No more Hellfire Citadel? No more Kara?
Is there a way that Blizzard can revitalize the old areas so they might still be used?
What about old faction purchases? Some of the enchant recipes you could purchase from Throium Brotherhood now have better ones you can get in outland. Does itmatter that no one does all the Argent Dawn quests in the plaguelands anymore?
There are so many things that aren't "needed" as far as leveling, gear, and crafting in the game now. What could Blizzard do to make them "wanted" again?
In our last poll titled "Favorite In-Game Event", the current holiday Hallow's End won with a landslide victory of 190 votes. Winter Veil and Brewfest came in second and third with 71 and 66 votes respectively.
This week's poll asks about your favorite Arena Map. Do you prefer the two story bridge setup of the Circle of Blood, the more head-on approach of the Ring of Trials or the cryptic setting in the Ruins of Lordaeron?

Upper Deck and Blizzard Entertainment announced the January 2008 release of a new hardcover book titled World of Warcraft: The Art of the Trading Card Game, which will feature artwork created for the highly popular World of Warcraft Trading Card Game (TCG). Published by Chronicle Books, the 288-page, 11"x9" book will include more than 300 full-color iconic pieces of art featured during the first year of release of the World of Warcraft TCG. Artists include Todd McFarlane (Spawn), Greg Staples (Judge Dredd), Zoltan Boros and Gabor Szikszai (InQuest Gamer magazine's "Artists of the Year" recipients), Marcelo Vignali (Disney Animation), and Todd Lockwood (Forgotten Realms), among others.
MTV Multiplayer has an exclusive look at the first five pages of the new "World of Warcraft" comic book, written by Walter Simonson of "Thor"and "Orion" fame with art by Ludo Lullabi and inker Sandra Hope, hitting stores next month.
The first storyline follows a human who washes up unconscious on the shores of Kalimdor, a continent in the game. He's suffered amnesia and becomes enslaved by an orc shaman. The mystery man struggles to survive by fighting against and working with both in-game factions the Alliance and the Horde, all while trying to learn about his forgotten past. "One of the central stories is his story arc: who is he, how can he find out who he is and what are the implications for the 'Warcraft' world?"
Patch 2.3 is currently on the Player Test Realms (PTRs) and patch 2.4, which will feature the 25-man and 5-man raid dungeons tied to Sunwell lore, is already progressing along nicely.
Sunwell is coming along nicely. It will be on the PTR shortly after 2.3 goes to the live realms. We still need to perfect 2.3 a bit on the PTR.
The 5 person dungeon is complete and the 25 person raid instance is progressing nicely. There's also a cool "public" area featuring brand new daily quests called Sunwell Isle.
We are happy to announce our latest contest, Legendary Tales, inspired by the upcoming Paramount Pictures movie Beowulf. In the style of a graphic novel, tell us your story of overcoming a seemingly insurmountable foe in World of Warcraft. Simply create and submit a screenshot-based photo journal of your in-game exploits, and you could win! Whether you held off the fel orcs of Hellfire Citadel or overcame the chicken scourge of Goldshire, your story should dazzle and amaze.
Five winners will be chosen to receive a one-year subscription to World of Warcraft!
If you've had a chance to visit the Headless Horseman, then you've had the chance to acquire some easy epic items. One forum poster was worried that the epic items had a secret catch, perhaps a hidden duration timer like the mislabeled brooms. Drysc replied with the following:
Heh, no, they're permanent.
The event designers wanted to incorporate some item rewards, some decent epic items for completing the end-quest for a holiday event. Something that is likely to continue into other events.
It's certainly easy, puggable, and it gives some decent items. It's a fun event, and the fight to the portal in/around SM is a hoot. Enjoy!
However this does not explain why the brooms were made temporary. Bornakk made the following remark on the subject:
Putting the duration on these items makes it so we don't have to worry about keeping them as a special rare mount. Instead it allows us to make them drop on a regular basis so almost everybody can experience this part of the event and enjoy it while it lasts.
The seasonal in game holiday of Hallow's End is upon us. You can trick or treat by speaking with innkeepers, or gather a party to bring down the Headless Horsemen in the Scarlet Monastery graveyard. Brave adventurers who manage to defeat him will find he drops some very nice items such as a new in game pet, Broomstick Mounts, Epic rings, Jack O Lantern helm, as well as some other goodies.
Hallow's End is only from October 18th until November 1st so be sure to check out all it has to offer.

Eyonix teased priests with this short statement about the Priest's discipline talent tree.
Though some priests have found a use for the discipline tree, right now, it doesn't quite have a solid purpose/goal, but rather seems to act as a supporting tree. This is something we plan on addressing with Wrath of the Lich King. Originally, the goal of the tree was primarily intended to provide staying power, vs. the holy tree which provides throughput.
Also, so you're aware, the 41-point discipline talent, pain suppression, is being changed to be usable on others for patch 2.3.
Eyonix took a little time to explain the upcoming changes to healing and the innate bonus spell damage coming in patch 2.3, currently on the Player Test realms.
Healing gear is currently identified by this description, "Increases healing done by spells and effects by up to x." In patch 2.3, the item text to identify plus to healing will be modified to read, "Increases healing done by up to x and damage done by up to y for all magical spells and effects".
y = bonus spell damage approximately equal to 1/3 of the item's healing bonus.
There are a few items and enchantments where we weren't able to make this change, such as random-stat items and Zul'Gurub enchantments. In any case, the spell damage gained in this fashion is designed to make solo/grinding easier but really won't provide competitive damage when compared to stacking spell damage equipment. enchantment, gems, etc...
