The folks over at GameSpy have published their Fall 2007 preview, which includes a short blurb about Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts
The big attractions for Opposing Fronts are the two new armies in the game. The British 2nd Army represents the ultimate defensive force in the game. They include the ability to move their HQ, drop pillboxes anywhere and deny ground to the enemy with their artillery. Their polar opposite is the Panzer Elite, a mobile vehicle force dependent on cool vehicles (like the insanely tough Jagdpanzer) and insane speed to do hit & run attacks on slower enemies. We eagerly enlisted with Company of Heroes last year, so we're more than ready to extend our tour with Opposing Fronts.
The article also says the release date is still set for November, which makes much more sense than the September date that seems to be flying around.
Originally, I was just going to include the Brits and Panzer Elite in the poll, but since the vanilla Company of Heroes teams have been tweaked a bit, I've decided to include them as well. Yes, I know that stats are constantly changing which makes it difficult to get a feel for balance, so hopefully everyone will vote as to what team they prefer, and not what team is the strongest/most balanced.
You can view the results to last week's poll by hitting "Read More..." below.
Relic has released a brand new patch for the Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts beta, updating the game to version 2.68. The patch introduces a lot of changes (hit Read More... below for the full change log), so you'll definitely want to give it a whirl. Simply log into Relic Online to download it!
Another week means a new Tales of Heroes show! This one is a little different than previous episodes, because it features a discussion with community members from various sites (including Planet CoH). So be sure to give it a listen
This week we've got a special roundtable show for you guys! We have representatives from each of the 3 major CoH community sites here to talk about what it's like to help "run" the CoH community, and discuss our community in general.
* 00:00:00 - Introduction
* 00:02:30 - News: Josh Mosqueira Answers Community Questions
* 00:07:20 - Community DIscussion
* 00:31:10 - First Thoughts on Opposing Fronts
Be sure to listen to the show, and leave your comments on our forums. A big thanks to Bridger for organizing the community roundtable, and my apologies for my connection/mic problems!
We are moving to the new forums system! - We're getting a new forum system really soon. The current one is a bit outdated, so the new one will have all those modern bells and whistles.
Splash Damage's Whine/Question thread 6.0. - Splash Damage poses 4 questions and gets responses and opinions about them. Topics include the feasibility of stats wipe, keeping engineers/pioneers busy, and resources.
Favourite Unit? - A discussion thread for sharing your favorite Company of Heroes units. For me, it is a toss-up between snipers for their ability to pick off infantry from a distance then blend into the environment, and the Calliope. Got to love dropping a barrage on the enemy base!
WW2 Weapons/tanks/vehicles/aircraft -Discuss your favorite World War II vehicles and weapons. It is always interesting to learn about some of those really crazy designs that never actually made it into production.
There's plenty of other great discussions in our forums, so be sure to stop by and register!
1st Round from 8th September to 14th September, following rounds are on Saturdays & Sundays every week after. Default tournament time is 7pm GMT Saturday for round 1, every Saturday and Sunday at 7pm GMT for all following rounds.

The NDA and You 22:15 PST | Demonic Spoon | Print News | Category: Community NewsDespite what you may have seen on another site that shall remain nameless, the NDA for Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts has NOT been lifted. The NDA is not lifted until Relic/THQ announces that it is lifted, and the harsh punishments inflicted for violating the NDA here on these forums are STILL in effect.
Word through from the local THQ distributor that the release date for the highly anticipated Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts has come forward a full month to September 28th.
The GamePlanet store gave us the first look at the Company of Heroes Collector's Edition casing last year, so they seem to have some crediblity. But all other documents, ranging from the official website to the recent IGN developer walkthrough say Relic is aiming for September. We've contacted Relic for further details, and will update if necessary.
Update:GameStop is now reporting a September 24th release date for North America...
New Windows Vista Hotfix 12:59 PST | Pyros | Print News | Category: Community NewsIf you use Windows Vista, you might want to grab this Vista hotfix, which improves framerates on graphically intensive games such as Company of Heroes. Here is the description for this fix:
Hotfix for GeForce customers running DirectX 9 and DirectX 10 applications: This hotfix resolves abnormal application behavior such as crashes and extremely low frame rates when running some 3D applications at very high graphics settings. This issue is not limited to, but has been most commonly noticed on high-end graphics cards and the following applications: Battlefield 2, Battlefield 2142, Civilization IV, Company of Heroes, Half-Life 2, Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle Earth II, Supreme Commander, and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas.
If you want to take full advantage of this fix, you'll need to ensure you have the latest drivers for your video card.
