PCG VP Episode 34

Posted in Video by Dane on May 25th, 2007

The place: Seoul, Korea. The person: PC Gamer’s own Dan “DJ” Stapleton. The mission: Jump on the ‘bouncy ride’ (you’ll see). Oh, yeah…we also have a bunch of stuff about some StarCraft game…apparently it’s a rusty RTS from like 17 years ago. Actually, that’s just jokes, the real deal is that this was one hell of an announcement. Unless you’ve been to Korea, you have no idea how much they luurve them some StarCraft! Witness: The Blizzard Worldwide Invitational: a two-day event so spectacular that they had to use the friggin Olympic Stadium! Hell yes: We have an exclusive interview with the StarCraft 2 Game Designer as well as some juicy bits-n-bobs from the Blizzard execs. You can also see for yourself how good gaming-as-spectator-sport can be in the country that does it best: Korea..the southy one.

“Hell, It’s about time.” Damn straight! Thank you Korea, thank you Blizzard!

Welcome back, this week we’re featuring Frontlines: Fuel of War from THQ and Kaos Studios, makers of the Battlefield MOD Desert Combat. The game is set in the near future with *next-gen* equipment and destructable environments. Frontlines also features a revised combat objective system that requires players to fight along actual battle lines, so no more running around the map endlessly, thanks for that! The game looks friggin cool and Norm seems excited… but he also just drank a 48 oz Jamba Juice. I’m sure you’ll agree that FREE=GOOD so this week’s sponsor features a headphone giveaway contest (If your headphones is reekin, you best be seekin) so check out Fuzzy Tangent.com

As recipient of the PC Gamer Editors’ choice award, Supreme Commander is one of those #$*&!% special games that we hope all our readers get to try. To celebrate the recent release, we sat down with one of our favorite developers - Chris Taylor, el heffe de Gas Powered Games - to get the metaphorical scoop from the proverbial horses mouth. Check the specs on this game and if you don’t meet the recommended specs, sell you car, take the cash and buy a new PC that will allow you to enjoy the glorious goodness of this massively scaled RTS monster.

PS: If you need a ride from the computer store, intern intern Andy will come get you …but you have to buy him a Jamba Juice.
