Nothing noteworthy

Repeal Taft-Hartley

01 April 2006

A Little Humor...

I never posted this, just posted the link, a really long time ago. So, I think it funny.

!!! BREAD IS DANGEROUS !!!

Research on bread indicates that:

1. More than 98 percent of convicted felons
are bread users.

2. Fully HALF of all children who grow
up in bread-consuming households score below average on standardized tests.

3. In the 18th century, when virtually
all bread was baked in the home, the average life expectancy was less than
50 years; infant mortality rates were unacceptably high; many women died
in childbirth; and diseases such as typhoid, yellow fever, and influenza
ravaged whole nations.

4. More than 90 percent of violent crimes
are committed within 24 hours of eating bread.

5. Bread is made from a substance called
"dough." It has been proven that as little as one pound of dough can be
used to suffocate a mouse. The average American eats more bread than that
in one month!

6. Primitive tribal societies that have
no bread exhibit a low incidence of cancer, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's disease,
and osteoporosis.

7. Bread has been proven to be addictive.
Subjects deprived of bread and given only water to eat begged for bread
after as little as two days.

8. Bread is often a "gateway" food item,
leading the user to "harder" items such as butter, jelly, peanut butter,
and even cold cuts.

9. Bread has been proven to absorb water.
Since the human body is more than 90 percent water, it follows that eating
bread could lead to your body being taken over by this absorptive food
product, turning you into a soggy, gooey bread-pudding person.

10. Newborn babies can choke on bread.

11. Bread is baked at temperatures as
high as 400 degrees Fahrenheit! That kind of heat can kill an adult in
less than one minute.

12. Most American bread eaters are utterly
unable to distinguish between significant scientific fact and meaningless
statistical babbling.

In light of these frightening statistics,
it has been proposed that the following bread restrictions be made:

1. No sale of bread to minors.

2. A nationwide "Just Say No To Toast"
campaign, complete celebrity TV spots and bumper stickers.

3. A 300 percent federal tax on all bread
to pay for all the societal ills we might associate with bread.

4. No animal or human images, nor any
primary colors (which may appeal to children) may be used to promote bread
usage.

5. The establishment of "Bread-free" zones
around schools.

This article was written by B.S. Wheatberry in a desert after consuming mass quantities of yeast bread then realizing his canteen was empty. (seriously :P )

Conservatives and Why They Hate Us

A reviewer of the Anarchist Cookbook on Amazon said, "It is a great book that every anarchist should own. If enough people read this book the goverment will be shakin in their shoes.

I was seeing if the book had been banned yet...

*Clears Throat*

Gonna have to do a little more than read to have the government "shakin in their shoes". However, you half-chewed piece of ass jerky, making a bomb and blowing up something is not the way too make the government squirm. That is a 100 percent way to make yourself end up being "Tiny's Bitch" when you go to prison.

It's sperm burpers like yourself that make it SO impossible for intellegent people to even begin to protest. As soon as we begin to gain momentum, some whore-bucket of a radical, or psuedo-radical, or better yet, anti-radical, spouts off with two ideas:

1) Let's blow something up

and

2) Let's legalize Marijuana

Option one, is by default, wrong. You can't just walk around telling people you are the best football player in the world, than walk up to Donovan McNabb and BET him you can throw farther and more accurate then he. It's just not gonna happen, and you can't wage war on an imperialistic country hell bent on world domination. You would get your ass waxed before you even had a chance to scream for your mommy.

Now, Che would say otherwise, but that is different, and this isn't Latin America. When Che was in on throwing out the Batista Regime in Cuba, which ultimatley installed Castro, they had POPULAR support. Violent opposition will never gain popular support in this country so, we are stuck with nonviolent. OFF THE BEATEN PATH.

On to option 2. I really don't care either way whether Mary Jane, Bud, Smoke, Hashish, or what every you want to call it gets legalized. I don't smoke, used to, and I will never smoke again. BUT, that dosen't mean that it should be illegal. 'The Pot' will only be legal, if and only if, we can gain a, ONCE AGAIN, POPULAR foundation for it's legalization.

In order to do that Marijuana needs to be shown in a different light. I have no idea what light that is, but I am pretty sure that the light is not going to be held by some picholi-wearing, pot smoking idiot, giggling at the extremities because he heard, or thought, or thought he heard someone say, "Look at the light man. It makes weed look so different. Hey, have you ever looked at weed on weed man?"

Now, in my defense I know there is a large portion of people that do not fit the stereotype I presented above. But how do we get those people to come out and say, "Yes I smoke pot." These aren't construction workers, pizza delivery guys, or burnt out University Students. No these are people with real jobs, real carrers, real families, and something to lose if they are caught. That is the light that needs to be shown, but as long as Paulie the Pothead is running around, grasping onto that light with every ounce of his being, Jane the Judicial Clerk, will just have to hide in the shadows.

I guess Option 1 could be exercised on Paulie, but then we would be breaking our pact of nonviolence.

Anyway, I strayed again...

So I think this is what should happen. All of the intellegent liberals and leftist should take to the hills. We hide. We stay hidden, much like the characters in Atlas Shrugged, until the nation collapes on itself and everyone from the right, and every idiot that stayed, screams, " OH PLEASE HELP US. We need your dissent, we need your , we need your economics, we need your social policies, and last of all we need your pot."

After we are hidden, every idiot with a gun, every idiot with an urge to build a bomb, and every idiot that was too high to read this will have blown themselves up, been shot by some else, been beating by someone with a bible, Shot the person beating someone with a bible, etc, etc, etc.

I think I see where this post is going now...

Much to their chagrin the conservatives and the facist's in washington, need liberals and their liberal agenda, so that, they don't end up commiting mass suicide. Because they know, if it wasn't for us, liberals and leftist's alike, they wouldn't have anything to bitch about and would move on to bitching about each other.

The only thing more dangerous than an idiot pothead, is a conservative with a gun and no liberals to bitch at.

I can see it now. Rodney Redneck and his wife Rosanne Redneck lead a perfectly miserable existence together. But they have something in common: their total haterd for liberals. They never tell each other why they hate liberals so, but deep down Rodney knows that he is gay, and Rosanne know that monogamy is a myth. Rodney wants to live in Chicago, in the gay-borhood, walking down Surf Street, hand and hand with a hot, latin lover. Rosanne wants to be a Stripper. She has dreams and asspirations of working in the porn industry and believes this to be her stepping stone.

So, Rodney runs around town spouting from the mouth the most mean and hateful, anti-gay, Pro-white rhetoric that has ever been heard, while Rosanne runs around town, fucking everything that walks, while pretending to be monogamous to her husband.

****NOTE:This actually seems a bit like a parallel, but I assure you that it is not.****

But because they are consumed by fear, they will never take the steps to make their dreams come true. What we have to realize is that conservatives and anti-liberals do not hate us because we are 'liberal' they hate us because they ARE NOT liberal. They hate us because we have grown past our fear, and have embraced ourselves and sometimes, many others, and can live the way that we want to live. The beauty about liberalism is that we are open to many differing ideas and issues, and from that we base our conclusions on what sounds good to us, the individual. We are not restrained .

Every Conservative is a Liberal. We just have to find that one thing that makes them flip. In the case of Dubya, that would be blow. Somebody! quick! Throw down a few lines for ole' georgie and get that fucker tweaked. Wait! Perhaps we should hold off on that. He might blow something up.

Good day.

SO MUCH FOR THAT!!!

Ugh. That's all I really have to say. Chirac, has decided to sign the new labor law. So much for the fucking protests. So much for what I thought about the Left coming back with a vengence. Perhaps, I should just conform to the majority....

Like I'd give up that easy. Ha!

Chirac did what any president would have done, what any politican would have done, ignored the voice of the people. He says that he did it because ANY protest is a threat to democracy. (not quite. But this is my spin zone. Ha!) This is coming from a guy with a 20% approval rating. He heard the cry of youth outrage and will modify the bill, but will not veto it.

Ah, fuck it. That's not here and that is where I am.

Where there is a communist there is a way...

Nothing too important or rant worthy

I awoke today to the sound of my cell....

OH SHIT!!! I am late for work.

What time is it?

7am she said...

Well took the day off today. Probably shouldnt have, but it beats standing around doing nothing. I hate doing nothing even if I am getting paid for it.

But, if they wanted to pay me what I thought my TIME was worth, I would gladly accept that small token.

In my insane world I have placed a dollar amount on my time. This dollar amount is the magic number that would make me shut my mouth, stay quiet and walk the line. AT THIS POINT IN TIME, that dollar amount is hovering around 82.00 an hour. That is the price to by my happy-trex-to-the-middle.

Thats what I want. The two people that read this blog, please sit down and think about how much money it would cost you to "sell out" in a sense and get back to me. It would be interesting to see where I am with everyone else.

ON TO OTHER OBSERVATIONS...

Went to the Pawn Shop today. I "got a loan" on my DeWalt XRP drill. I wanted 100.00, I walked out with 70.

The price started at 100.00 but the whore "wasn't feelin' 100.00" so she dropped it to 90. Then she "wasn't feelin' 90, so i think it be best that we take it to 80.00"

At this I said, "Fine. 80.00 will work. Set the price, now carry on."

Clickity-clickity clack...

She wasn't feeling that either. I wonder if she was "feelin'" my rage boil up... 70.00.

She handed me the money, I glanced around at the store, and my eyes shot to a Mini-14 and a 9mm pistol...

THoughts of Raskolnikov, ran through my head. I wondered if she lived alone. I wondered what red on white on the wall would look like. Then I snapped out of it. That is the literary world, this is reality. You can't dream of a Raskolnikov Style of retribution, in modern day america.

SO, I put razi away, and walked over to the guitars hanging on the wall. I thought to myself, how many faded dreams hang in this room. How many hours of frustration and joy are right here, in this very spot. How many teardrops have fallen on the wood?

Enough of all that. Gonna sit down and finish reading the 9/11 Commission Report.

Damn, I wish I had a copy of Crime and Punishment...

A little less serious...

I am serious to a fault.

Most of the people that are around me think that I spend way too much time on serious issues, and never enough time on things of fun. Patriotism is no excuse for ignorance. I am often told that I need to get out of the house, enjoy the fresh air, and just relax.

But honestly, my rants, and my seriousness are my way of relaxing.

However, today I think I will devote time to something more fun, and a little less serious, and perhaps, a little shorter than some previous posts...

Okay, drivel point 1... Marijuana is illegal. I don't smoke, so there for, I could actually care less. But the issue comes down to this. Find the effects of Marijuana on the body, and cross reference those effects with ones brought about my caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol. If studies show that Marijuana is no more or less harmful than coffee, cigarettes and beer, than One of two things need to happen:

(1)Either make marijuana legal.
(2)Criminalize Caffeine, Tobacco and Alcohol.

You have a choice.

Drivel point 2...

Guy's who can't take a hint. I know I used to be one of ya! If your girl or guy, comes to you and says, “Honey, I think it is time for you to move out. I want a divorce, Or, I am sleeping with somebody else.” Take the hint – pack your bags and get the fark out. She or He doesn't want you there anymore. You have been replaced. Hang your head, swallow what little pride you have, and walk out of the house on your own two feet. If not, silly little conversations may surface with subjects and topics, such as, If only you weren't so pathetic. They ever questioning, “Why can't you understand.” The metaphorically blessed, “Since when did I promise you a rose garden.” And the ever fateful and most hateful, “Your dick is too little” or “Your pussy is too loose.”

Drivel Point 3...

Stitches are over-rated. “Electrical tape and Gauze Padding will do the same thing.” At least that is what I have been told.

Drivel Point 4...

Daddy Diving and the women that practice this sacred art...

Just because you fucked up and didn't secure a promising future for your children dosent mean that everyone you are around takes part in the same type of act that you do. You want to call someone a daddy diver? Look at yourself little miss been married a million times. Look who called the kettle black.

Drivel Point 5...

thats all I got.

I tried to be less serious but it dosent seem to work.

OH AND BY THE WAY...

Both of my sisters are pregnant. This is not a joyous occasion for me. In the case of the 24 year old sister please refer to drivel point 4. In the case of the 18 year old sister...you got what you wanted You trapped “your man” and now you can grow up to be just like sis, and mom. Good Job. At least I can say that all of you will be able to wave that White Trash Flag proud.

Look ma! I caughts me another good man. He only beats me once a day, not twice. He lets me clean the kitchen, bathroom and house, as well as give him head as soon as he walks in the door. I am so glad that I trapped the man of my dreams. Whats that ma? Yeah he gots a job. He works down there at that feed mill. He makes real good money. He makes 6.00 an hour and only has to work 15 hours a week. Whats that ma? Oh, we gonna get extra money cause he tells me that I am gonna do good in my new job after I has the baby. Oh? Yeah, He says that I can make 100 to 200 dollars a day, cleaning hotel rooms and given head to businessmen that are leaving. Nah, ma. You taught me well. Oh, Guess what? He says in 30 or 40 years we might be able to afford a trailer of our own. Wont that be nice ma? We could finally leave your house.

They live at home in a trailer...
My mom says to get a job....
She sits on her ass all day long...
Smoking crack and loading a bong...
They fuck everything that walks...
They live at home in a trailer...
In a shit ass broke ass town...
They vote republican against their interests...
They think George Bush is Okay..
They like that we kill Iraqi's...
They are nothing but stupid sand N******, anyway.
They live at home in a trailer,
Smoking crack and loading bongs...
The fuck anything that walks...
In a shit ass broke ass town...

IF YA CANT TELL I DESPISE MY FAMILY.

Another By the Way point...

I have to talk to my sisters' ex-boyfriends' in order to know what exactly is going on.

My family is dead to me.
Deader than constitutional rights in this country.
Deader than labor organizations in this country.
Deader than idealism and happiness.
Deader than dead.

Pro Union

not to well thought out... got a little tired. but the jist is there.

But ahh... my romantic dream...

Workers are screwed in this country. Capitalist America depends on us to bring profits and line the pockets of the American Buoegouis. The American Bourgeois is something that is never talked about. I mean think about it, the concept is so Marxian and therefore outdated. What does Marx, the hero of the worker, know of anything in the modern world? What does an outdated, defunct movement, already shown to lead to totalitarianism, have to do with Modern America? Come on Urbane, the theory has proved flawed and the Capitalists have won.

Not really, the blue-collar worker is the life blood of this nation. Without the worker, without the proletarian, this nation will be on its knees. However, the American Bourgeois, hold a thin and fragile lock on the workers in this country. I say this because, despite the prevalence of machinery and technology in Our America, the worker, the tradesman, the guildsman, the mechanic, the janitor, in short the wage worker decides when and where, and to what extent the American Bourgeois, makes a profit. No worker, No Profit.

However, to counter this the American (BU) with help from The Congress and the Presidency , created a law in 1947 that has become known as the Taft-Hartley Act, to counter the influence of the labor organization movement. In essence the counter was to make sure that workers could not unite in such away that would allow for the ultimate demise of the Capitalism. As long as the wealth of the many is in the hands of a few, we will be oppressed. We will be oppressed into believing that our right to DEMAND that we receive a LIVING wage is something counter-productive and un-American. We will be oppressed to such a point that we begin to believe that we, the class of wage earner, not profit reaper, are at the kind mercy of the Master, who was nice enough to GIVE us a job. We will be oppressed to such an extent that we begin to believe that we, the class of wage-earner, has no say in anything other than whats for dinner, and whats on Tv. Lastly, we will be oppressed to such an extreme at the hands of the Profit Reaping Master, living in his plantation style home, Dreaming of Savannah, and the piles of profits he will fuck his homely wife in, that we will truly begin to believe that Yes, in fact, 2+2=5.

The wage-earner in today's society is both an integral part, and also a vile leach. We are at the Mercy of the Master, and only in his good taste, and fortune will we truly be allowed to live a life of freedom. American Serfdom is on the Horizon people. As long as we allow ourselves to be the sheep and allow THEM to be the shepherd, we will be at the hands of a master that only see us as such. We are not human, we are a means to an end. We are a tool which is implemented in order to line the pockets of the money hungry American Bourgeois . We are the tools of the trade used and crafted in order to provide the capitalist with the money to support us. We work for our own support. We work for our own means to an end. We work to keep food on the table. We work to keep the lights on. We work in order to survive. We work because we have to.

The America Bourgeois, uses this fact, this little thin line, to manipulate us. The question arise of what would happen to the AB if the worker revolted? What if all the wage-earners revolted, every wage-earner from the guy that cleans port-a-potties, to the guy at best buy, the girl at Starbucks, the kid at the movie theater. The framers, carpenters, policemen, tradesmen, ambulance drivers, the nurses, the teachers, the truck driver. The baggage handlers, the Piolts. The toll collectors and the taxi-drivers. The Cook and the waiter. Your PCS service Rep. Tech support at Road Runner. In short what would happen if EVERY wage-earner in the nation Revolted, and Struck?

The very model of Capitalism would begin to crumble. If there is no tool to implement the collection of monies into the pockets of the Bourgeois, than the monies that would normally be used to buy products would cease to be available. If there is no money than there is no Capital. My opponents will argue that if this happened than the Capitalist could than create capital with the money that lined his coffers. TO this i Respond:

Who would take the order? Deliver the product? Install or sell the product? Who would transfer the funds from bank account to bank account? Or, approve the credit transaction? Who would answer the phone?

It is time for the workers to take back their right of organization. It is time for the workers to stand up and educate themselves and say, “Nay! I will not allow an outdated law, force me to make ends-meat. It is time for the workers in this country to realize that their best interests are served by a unified, organized entity and not the powers that be. We need to unite; we need to organize; we need to take the power back.

We need to write letters to anyone we can think of and DEMAND that Taft-Hartley be repealed. We need to get out on to the streets and let everyone know that they are being used and abused; that they are being exploited for no other reason then to put money into the hands of the rich.

Demand that Taft-Hartley be killed.
Demand that Taft-Hartley be buried.

And Demand that we be treated as humans, not as tools for the master.

Let's show the world that a general strike can happen in the United States. Let's show the world that a law passed in 1947 has no bearing on how we live our lives.

Never, has the battle cry of unionized workers ever sounded so good to my ears....

Marriage

From my head to yours...

Gay marriage and the hetero's that supposedly support it...

The thing that sucks is that I had a VERY good post about this than my 'puter died.

With that said, shall we move on?

This is more for my hetero friends then it is for my gay friends...

What kind of audacity can you have when you say that you support gay marriage yet, you go down to the local court house and obtain a marriage license so that you can marry in a country where your gay sisters and brothers are being held "morally" hostage?

If you say that you support gay marriage do what I am doing - Ban yourself from the act of marriage until our sisters and brothers can benefit from the same privileges that we are afforded.

If the fuckers in Washington want to define marriage, as "a union between ONE MAN AND ONE WOMAN" let them. Let us protest the concept not the argument. Let us show those fuckers in Washington that definitions do not define who can marry, love does.

Let us show them that marriage is an outdated ritual brought about so that ownership can be passed from one to another. If they want to define marriage, let us revolt against the very concept.

What would the neo-cons do when an entire generation of children are born bastardized? What will the neo-con's do when the very concept that they are trying to protect, i.e. the sancticity of marriage, ends up just being a fucking joke. You can protect a concept or idea until you die, but the world does change, and if you don't change with it, you will be left behind.

Will the blame the denigration of society on our gay sisters and brothers? Will the blame the denigration of society on social reforms and GLBT rights? Who will they blame when the concept of marriage is written out of the law? How will they feel when their children stand up and say, "Nay! I will not marry until my sisters and brothers can marry."

They want to define marriage, let us redefine marriage.

Let us show them that the denigration of society is not due to GLBT

Let us show them that the morality is not based in a bible bought and written for a rich king.

Let us show them that family is more than a piece of paper.

Let's redefine marriage. Let's redefine everything.

Let's show them that children can grow up happy and content in homes where mommy and mommy; daddy and daddy, or mommy and daddy, have different last name.

The fight is not about marriage:

The fight is about the 1,138 ways in which hetero's are granted privileges for being married.

The fight is about love and happiness not a piece of paper.

IF they want to define marriage, let us stump for causes.

Let us get our corporations to grant benefits to same sex couples.
Let us get our landlords to grant joint leases, with automatic renewal clauses if one partner dies.
Let us get our banks to allow access to our partners bank accounts in case of death.

Let us take those 1,138 ways in which hetero's benefit from marriage and make them ours.

It's far easier to get a gay-supporting senator to piggy back an initiative onto a "must pass" bill, then it is to fight the beast head on.

Let's fight from the inside, that's the way to win.

If your state passes an anti-gay measure. Protest the state. Protest everything. Redefine everything. It's our world. We need to take the power back.

One More Thing...

I promise nothing other than my view, whether that be right or wrong; absurd or practical; politically correct or not; Leftist or, wait my views will be leftist.

MY Voice is that of an American.
MY Voice is that of a working class stiff.
MY voice is that of a leftist.
MY voice is that of disgust.
MY voice is that of a non-violent militant.
MY voice is that of Dissent.

MY Voice is that of thousands of voices left silent.

This is my voice; What is yours?

A Reintroduction of myself...

My thoughts at time will be jumbled. My spelling atrocious. My grammar, finicky. I'll either piss you off, or make you happy. I doubt there will be a middle ground. Either (which actually refers to two items, not three, but we will move on) way, I welcome comments. I welcome debate. However, I do not welcome comments and arguments set forth by blubbering idiots. If you do feel the need to comment on what I have to say, please, put a little thought and effort in to it (ugh! About the it, not the idiots). I would do that same for you. If not, then I will live up to the liberal stereotype and attack, not your argument, but instead your stupidity.

This is my world. A world in which I have declared myself Pope and Emperor of the World, except of course those far leaning leftist countries. (Viva La France! More on France and the activists taking to the streets right now, in opposition of a new Labor Reform Bill, Later.) This is a world where NPR is always on. Where The Economist is the denizens news source. Where taxes are used to support social initiatives, including health and education; Not a world in which, taxes are used to fund "global wars on terror." A world in which Televisions and State (or, Corporate) Controlled Mass Media are not allowed to exist. A World in which the people have a voice that is heard. A world where our elected officials listen to our cries of outrage, or of course, our cries of joy, and respond to them the way that they should, as the voice of the people. This is a world where intellectual aptitude is the marker of a great woman or man, not the fatness of her or his wallet.

Many will label me. Many will hate me. I will be labeled a Communist. A Socialist. A Liberal. Many will call me unpatriotic. Many will see me as un-American. I may even be called, "a pansy with a persecution complex." None of these matter. Labels are labels. I can not hide from what I am. Call me what you will, we will all cease to be, when, "the smoking gun comes in the form of a mushroom cloud." OH WAIT! That was already used to bring us into a war that started three years ago wasn't it? I forgot we did great things Iraq. Dead Eye Dick told us that we would be greated as liberators. Even told Tim Russert. Tell me DICK, are we liberators? I think not. We liberated a country and plunged it into civil war, jackass.

Needless to say I have reservations about the current administration. I try not to buy into the "elections where rigged" hoopla, but i guess the only person that knows is the guy who wont tell. We'll just have to wait till the mid-terms. If the Cons keep the Congress, I am going to be screaming from the rafters, "the election was rigged, the election was rigged." Speaking of rigged elections, Belarus. Granted whats his name does have a fair margin of support but to win 83% of the popular vote? Something is fishy there. Yeah I think I have said enough for now. Not pretty, not poignant, but out of my head, and in to yours.

You know I feel like Anne Frank sitting in my attic.
Waiting for the Gestapo to come and get me.

Patriotism is no excuse for ignorance.
Hate me or love me;
Despise me or follow me;

I am back.

I have hidden myself from the world for a few months, but i can say that I'm back. I spent the last couple o' months trying to figure out who I am and what exactly I want to do in this tradegy they call life. Well the ideas are there and now all I need to do is set them in motion.

The number one priority is to get back in school and obtain that, oh so elusive, degree.

After that perhaps I will change the world.

Ya Never KNOW.

I am doing well though. I met a girl, April, who is in essence the female version of me. I will plug her blog on my sidebar as soon as I get a chance. But her birthday is coming up very soon, actually the same day as my daughter Saturn's, and I am kinda excited about that.

As for what I have been doing. I would like to say that I've been reading bunches and bunches but that is a lie. I have been finding myself, who I am, where I came from, where I am going and so forth. I've been looking into my entire belief structure, spiritually, politically and economically. That's all a bit boring to explain though.

I apoligize to everyone for things that I have done in the past, that's all that there.

So, expect updates from yours truly on a more regualr, if not daily basis.

04 October 2005

Continued from below. How does he get back to his house?

Watching this commercial. A guy walks out of his house, jumps off a cliff, parachute opens, lands on ground gets in car and drives off.

Record high temps today. 92 degrees. Afraid to actually say what i want. Best to be silent until everything is finished.

No place to live but not homeless, yet. Out of money, and almost out of time. Feel like a caged animal.

03 October 2005

Wouldnt matter anyhow. There is nothing i can say or do that would fix what is broken. Damn. Fucking temper. Thought that i had it under control.

Funds are very short and there is no relief in sight. A waiting game... Time. hurry up and pass. Cant even apologize. Not allowed to.

I am hobbled but not out, yet. Went from hero to zero in the course of one drunken night. Suspended from work until the storm passes.

Long Grain Old Fashioned Rice, or Instant Rice, That is the Question...

When forced with the decision to make either, rice in the steamer or Uncle Ben's Instant Rice, the wife chose a hybrid of both. She knows that I loathe instant rice, and prefer my rice to be cooked in the steamer. So, she (by the way, one of the many reasons why I love her is her complete inability to cook) decided to combine both worlds. Instant Rice in the Rice Steamer.

Which, in essence, creates the puffed rice cereal that I was so fond of as a child. Or, Was it all the sugar that I poured on the cereal?

Does Harry's Wonder Bar ever close? I would think that the frat boy induced, sausage fest would close the doors till at least 5 pm.

Perhaps i should change the name of this lovely Blog to... Thoughts from the sidewalk

For those that do not know... The reason that many of my posts are short is because i Blog from my cell on my way to work.

I read sixty pages of Adam Smith's, Wealth of Nations, last night. It was the first time, in a long time that I was able to read. Hope it stays.

It is that time of year when we begin to entertain the notion of moving back to chicago. What will the outcome be?

Instead of fixing what needs fixing and doing the job that i am supposed to, i was told by fat ass to dust televisions.

Surrealism breeds delusional tendencies. Getting charged ten cents for every post until unlimited text messaging takes effect on the seventh.

Sprint sucks. I an trying to fix my plan but there is a 15 minute wait. Could call gil but last time he fucked my plan up. More later.

Peter Jennings

The problem with disconnecting from the world is that you often miss the things that move you. I just found (about 5 hours ago) out that Peter Jennings passed away on the 8th. An era of journalism is dead. Journalism as a whole is dead.

Peter was more than an anchorman. He was an icon. He was a security blanket to thousands of citizens. When the world got crazy; when the world seemed out of balance and in chaos, Peter was there, reassuring all of us that everything would be fine. He was there when my first memories of tragedy flourished. I watched as Peter told the facts, somber, yet professional, as the word spread that Challenger had exploded mid-flight. I was sitting in an apartment in New Jersey, playing hooky, because I wanted to watch the first schoolteacher sit atop a roman candle and be launched in to space.

As I sat in a high school, located in a small southeastern Kansas town, Peter Jennings told the story of a mad man. This mad man, rented a Ryder truck, drove it to Oklahoma City and blew up a federal building. The image of Baby X, carried by a fireman, plastered all over Time Magazine, haunts me to this day and haunted me more post 9/11. Peter told us that life would move on, that we would get over this.

In a hospital, with my sister in pre-term labor, I watched as Peter, stoic as always, reported the tragedy of 9/11, while a monolith collapsed. That monolith of course was the Twin Towers. I stood atop them in 6th grade and thought to myself, one day I will stand atop these towers with the woman I love and look over the great state of my birth. This dream was never realized. Terrorists took that dream from me.

The shoes of Peter Jennings are going to be hard, that is not the word, impossible to fill. Peter's career was shaped and formed over 40 years of civil and global strife. He came of age (as a journalist) in the liberal driven strife of the 60's. He watched global leaders come of age, and watched their ultimate demise. He watched and reported as a wall in a German city was torn down. We will never have another Peter Jennings and because of this I am sorrowed.

Yeah, I can elaborate more on this subject, but sometimes brief and raw is best.

...

Okay, I am going to screw this up, but I need to get it down. A few nights ago I was talking to Rex about China. I said that China is a contradiction in terms; they embrace capitalism but yet are a communist country.

Today at work I asked Peter the same question. A little back-story about Peter is in order. Peter's real name is Yang. He was born in Beijing and moved to the states when he was 10 or 11. His parents were working on their PhD's in English at the University of Kansas. Long story short, Peter got here to the states and moved to North Carolina a few years later.

So today I asked Peter how China exists with the contradiction in terms. I asked, "If China is a Communist nation who embraces capitalism, how is it that there are still ration cards? And with these ration cards people get their allotted amount of grain. Yet at the same time, in a previous conversation, you told me that the farmers could sell the grain they produce in order to get money, so they can buy extra grain, services, or other items that they deem necessary. Please clarify."

Peter said (roughly)

The Chinese do not live in a contradiction. What happens is this. The party has decided that farmers can grow as much as they want, of whatever they want. So farmers that were once grain-producers go back to their ancestral farms and grow the things that they know how to grow.

Now in the example of grain, the Government evaluates the farms production and decides that this farm can only produce 3 tons of grain per year. The government says that they need to meet a quota of 1 ton per year and anything else above that 1 ton can be sold either at the local market, or to the government at local market price. They also say that the ration, which the farmer is to receive, is 25 percent of that 1 ton that they HAVE to produce. SO they're allocated ration is 25 percent of 1/3 of total output. Now the farmer will sell the other 2 tons to the government and have money in his pocket, as well as a rationed amount of food, which he produced.

This is how the Chinese government in part can afford the distribution of food to millions of people. Besides the allocated food that has to be rationed the Chinese government will inevitably end up with a surplus of grain. The government, then sells the grain to local markets, Wal-Mart, and other countries so that the government can afford to buy the grain those farmers wish to sell, if they decide to sell it to the government.

In doing this the Chinese food production system is cyclic and lucrative. For the first time in 5000 years the Chinese government is exporting grain.

Like I said, I screwed this up, and was not being clear in my presentation, but sometimes you just have to get it all out. This was a very condensed version of a conversation that lasted a good hour or more.

I had planned on posting a rather lengthy, and well thought out statement in regards to nuclear combat. The problem is that in forming the argument in my head I took both positions on the entire issue. I have realized that nuclear combat is a squishy area; a topic that in order to present it will one would need a little more research than the time that I have. So instead I will just dispense with the basic notions:

Nuclear Combat is Archaic at best.

Stockpiles are for the insane.

Global deterrents are a thing of the past.

Stalemate.

No more weapons...

and then this little excerpt from my so called treatise:

During the arms race of the cold war the global community knew who the threat was. Eyes were watching production so as to keep track of who had what, and how much of what. Power games were played to pit one nuclear power against another and it worked.
Global thermo-nuclear war is an archaic thought process. The global community has realized that a first strike policy is nothing more than a death sentence, not only for the country launching the attack, but also for every country in the world. GTNW is highly improbable, not because countries do not have weapons, but because the weapons themselves act as a global deterrent.

However, nuclear weapons only act as a global deterrent for those countries that posses them. Unless a nuclear threat, or attack, is sanctioned by a state, the retaliation of nuclear attack, by the victim state, using nuclear means is ineffective. Granted a state (such as the USA) could decide to launch 517 Minuteman 3 ICBM'’s, a few of them topped with MIRV'’s at a country they believe to have sanctioned the attack, but the global community would be in an outrage.

With that said I think I will finish this post. Keep checking back. Perhaps one day I will finish what I started.

There are only two things that make me frantic -arguing with my wife and the blink of a cursor in a word processor. That cursor sits on the screen yelling at you. With each subsequent blink the cursor tells you that you have been defeated. You can sit there for hours, with the urge to write, but the cursor is telling you, “I told you so.”

The cursor has god-like powers. It has the power to make you wish you were somewhere else. It has the power to defeat you, crush you, and make you do stupid things. “Writer, I am The Cursor. I am the end all, be all, to your writing career. Without me you cannot succeed in your writing routine. However, without you I have no purpose. I need you as much as you need me.” The Cursor has the ability to break the most talented person, to whittle their resolve so much, that they cease producing and instead choose to do nothing.

The Cursor is a problem. The Cursor is the first step, the first barrier to overcome when trying to alleviate writer’s block. Blink Blink Blink… “Writer, you can not beat me. I am the all-powerful, all-knowing Cursor. I know what you are thinking and I know that they story you have in your head is drivel. No one will read it. You may as well just give up.”

Many of us succumb to the power of The Cursor. The Cursor is an entity that does not exist in a sense, but in another, the cursor is, “the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the End.” The Cursor controls we mortals and wields us in ways that we wish it did not. The Cursor seeks us out from the first moment that we turn on our word program. The Cursor is always there. It never ceases to go away. The more that we type we realize that The Cursor will never disappear. The Cursor always spearheads our writing invasion. The Cursor is always the first one in. It never relents in its offense. It stays with us, through writing the good, to writing the bad.

If not for the cursor the writer would cease to exist, but without the writer the cursor ceases to do its prescribed duty. Blink Blink Blink. The Cursor stares at you. When you are having problems with a sentence or with a word, the cursor blinks and offers no suggestions. It is inanimate at one point, but at another it is the answer. The pressures that the cursor puts on the writer are unbearable.

Drunk

Wife has told me that I have made an ass out of myself tonight. We had Rex down for drinks. He had 5 beers and I had 6 beers. As soon as he left I started working on my 5 Gin and OJ. Started ranting about the chronology of the bible; about life-spans of the Bible; about labor unions; and how about how Marx was wrong, and that there are four classes in society.

In the conversations that took place, Layla said, "George W. Bush wouldn't vote for Jesus as President." How true this statement is. Why would Dubya vote for his messiah? Could it be that Jesus was a communist? Could it be that the conservative right has protr I can't type, my tires are fingered.

Abu Ghraib photos.

The Fascists are at it again! If it is not infringing on our personal rights by making 14 provisions of the Ashcroft-Bush Control Mechanism (otherwise known as the Patriot Act) permanent, it is suppression of the media. The latest case from our elected dictator and his henchmen, is the suppression of the Abu Ghraib Torture photos. We have all seen the pictures of little miss gung-ho standing around the humiliated piles of naked Iraqis, waving and giggling because this was the first time she has seen a penis that did not belong to a family member, or someone in her chain-of-command. But it makes a person wonder, at least this person, what exactly is Dubya-on-the-hill trying to cover up? Are Dubya and the Bushies trying to, "...protect the physical safety of individuals" in the photos or is it a ploy to cover their own asses? That is a question that soon enough can, hopefully, be answered.

The whole situation just reeks of back-room political agendas. Why not keep the uneducated masses in the dark and hope that eventually they believe that 2+2=5? Why not pull the wool over our eyes and lead us to the sale, ole wise shepherd? When will the people of the country wake-up and realize that what is happening is not normal? Since when did Ovis aries translate intoHomo sapien?

Too many questions, not enough substance.

It is no surprise though. When does a fascist state not control the media? "Censorship, especially in wartime, is very common." Isn't that what we are fighting everyday? A war on terror? The thing that scares me isn't the terrorists that do not have a face, it is the "terrorists" that do have a face. We have terrorists running our country, dressed in suits, driving their H2's, having power lunches in which they will decide the fate of everyday Americans. These are the Senators and Congressmen; the Joint Chiefs and the Attorney General; The Farmer and the 18-year old kid registering to vote, who believe that what is being done is right. These are mothers and fathers; sisters and brothers. But we don't call them terrorists we call them citizens.

To me, a terrorist is someone who not only causes acts of terrorism, but someone who supports terrorism. In the wake of the London bombings Prime Minister Blair said, "It's important, however, that those engaged in terrorism realize that our determination to defend our values and our way of life is greater than their determination to cause death and destruction to innocent people in a desire to impose extremism on the world."

Not that I am condoning the attacks in London, but another question is raised. Is terrorism a relative term? What Prime Minister Blair stated was something that could possibly have come from the mouth of an insurgent leader. When will it stop? Someone has to decide when this war on terror stops. The beginning is evident, but the end is not. When I step back and look at the big picture, all I can see is a stalemate. Who can win a war when the combatants of one side are easily marked, and the combatants on the other side could be anyone? Are the beliefs of the mightier greater than the beliefs of the lesser? Who is to determine what beliefs are right and what beliefs are wrong? Have these last couple of years been nothing more than a rehashing of the Crusades?

Which is worse? A Christian fanatic or a Muslim fanatic?

Quick Post: I will get something more substantial this weekend.

My brain is fried. It was around 110 today, I was in the heat all day.

Never trust your boss. Incentives that are hung in front off your face never pay off.

Is it "bad" to seek out my boss, after hours, and beat the living tar out of him? Yes it is.

Not gonna do it. It wouldn't be prudent at this juncture. Read my lips...

...

Another attack in London although smaller than the previous attacks.

It is no surprise that I am anti-war or anti-administration, but let me ask a question: When are the powers that be going to realize that the war which they are fighting is NOT working?

The War-on-Terror is producing a generation of pissed-off foreign nationals, who view us as an entity bent on global domination. With "King Bush" in office, spouting religious rhetoric about how God has told him to wage war on terrorists, the world views us as an imperialistic regime, trying to gain land mass, as well as spread-the-word-of-god, in some form of modern day crusade.

When is it all going to stop. When will the administration and the other fifty percent of the population going to realize that IT IS NOT WORKING. How can it work?

Imagine this if you will.

We live our lives everyday in relative peace. One day, a group of extreme political wingers flies to China, Hijack the planes which they are on, and steers them into iconic Chinese buildings. Later that day Hu Jintao, President of the PRC, issues a press statement that says, China will fight a war on terror, aimed at wiping the terrorists from the face of the earth. So China invades the US, and starts killing innocent people, because they are part of an insurgency.

Just wouldn't work would it? So why does the US think that they can eradicated terrorism? As long as there is a global power flexing their might onto the little guy there will always be some form of terrorism.

More Later, I have to go to work...

In organizing my bookmarks / favorites I have run into a problem. I have a folder for philosophy related sites, one for language related sites, and one for classical studies related sites.

A link to a glossary of rhetorical terms would go where?

initially I thought that it belongs in the philosophy folder in one of the sub-categories. But then I thought that it also could go in the English folder. Then I noticed that the link is from a university and that the glossary itself is embedded in the Classical Department.

Where would you put rhetoric? One of 7 areas, that at one time, constituted a liberal education.

...

Although it is no shock that Dubya nominated the Honorable John G Roberts to the Supreme Court, or any conservative for that matter, it is one of those classic we’ll-have-to-wait-and-see scenarios. Roberts’ track record is purely conservative so this raises the question of how he will rule on “hot-button issues” such as abortion. Will he follow in the footsteps of Justice O‘Connor, who is in fact a moderate conservative, or will he become the most conservative Justice in the court?

As for that, only time will tell.

But here is something from the New York Times:

“In a brief he helped write in 1990 that restated the administration's opposition to Roe v. Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court decision that established the constitutional right to abortion, Judge Roberts said that it appeared to be ‘wrongly decided and should be overruled.’”

But in 2003, he said it was the ‘settled law of the land.’”

Is this a sign that personally, Judge Roberts is Pro-choice? No, what it is a sign of is that the PEOPLE of the United States, in my opinion, will not ALLOW the case to be overturned. One of the Supreme Courts’ duties is to interpret the constitution (which is nothing more than a vague outline) in accordance with a changing society. As Judge Roberts stated in 2003, the Roe v. Wade case is the “settled law of the land.” So any attempt to “overturn” the landmark case, is going to be wrought with strife and outrage.

Another point. Why aren’t the conservatives attacking him for flip-flopping? Could it be because he could benefit the conservative agenda?

Regardless of what the conservatives in this country thought post-election, 50.73% of the vote does not give Dubya a mandate to do as he pleases. What that shows is that fifty percent of the country is for the man, while the other fifty are disenfranchised. We have a great split. Sorry got off topic.

In the infamous “French Fry" case, Roberts upheld the ruling of a lower court saying that this 12 year old girl’s 4th and 5th amendment rights were not violated. At first, I thought, “What a totalitarian prick.” She was arrested for eating a French fry in a subway station!! However, after reading the case I also agree with Roberts’ opinion. Why is this? I am not too “hip” on my legal jargon, but what I can say is (1) THE CASE WAS POORLY ARGUED and (2) had the case been decided differently it could have had national ramifications.

To get a little bit of understanding:

“A twelve-year-old girl was arrested, searched, and handcuffed. Her shoelaces were removed, and she was transported in the windowless rear compartment of a police vehicle to a juvenile processing center, where she was booked, fingerprinted, and detained until released to her mother some three hours later — all for
eating a single french fry in a Metrorail station. The child was frightened, embarrassed, and crying throughout the ordeal. The district court described the policies that led to her arrest as ‘‘foolish,’’ and indeed the policies were changed after those responsible endured the sort of publicity reserved for adults who make young girls cry. The question before us, however, is not whether these policies were a bad idea, but whether they violated the Fourth and Fifth Amendments to the Constitution. Like the district court, we conclude that they did not, and accordingly we affirm.” Roberts

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) enacted, as a response to reports of juvenile delinquency, a zero-tolerance enforcement week, in regards to certain violations, at its rail stations. One of these violations was no eating in the station. Undercover officers issued citations to adults, but at the time the District did not have a policy of issuing citations to children.

I am not going to go into great detail about the case, I just want to show you my reasoning for agreeing with Judge Roberts.

At one point in the argument the attorney for Ansche Hedgepeth said that, “Youth…bears many of the hallmarks of suspect classification: a history of discrimination, immutable characteristics, and political disenfranchisement.”

Now, I believe that this is probably a key point in the case and this is why: had the court agreed that the girls rights had been violated by using this as an example, than that would give anyone not able to vote or anyone belonging to a group of people whose past has a history of discrimination, a blank check to do what ever they wanted. Could you imagine the blurbs in the papers? This could possibly give any person convicted of a felony, any person belonging to a minority, or any person under the age of 18 the right to do anything at anytime, including murder.

One final thought for right now. Everything I have read about Roberts leads me to the impression that he is a maverick.

More later…

I was in the truck today at work and my fellow co-worker was harassing me about my political / personal beliefs. After 15 or so minutes I finally asked him, "What is it that you believe in? Name one thing that you would stand up for. One concept or idea that makes you think, 'Damn, I will no longer do this because of this.'"

His response: Nothing.

He goes through life everyday not believing in anything.

It reminds me of that scene in Talk Radio where Barry has brought the "pot-head" into the studio. Barry was disgusted when he realized the kid didn't believe in anything.

That's how I felt today.

Not very well put, but you get the idea.

I told him that I shop at a local co-op grocer. His response: Oh I shop at WAL-MART. It is cheaper and better.

The list is endless. For every situation I could think of he had an equal conditioned response.

Nothing. Nevermind.

...

Working some things out in my mind.

Errol Harris, in The Foundation of Metaphysics in Science, HPL 1993 reprint edition, said this in Chapter 3.2 page 50:

“As the velocity of light is the limit which can not be exceeded, the acceleration of a moving body is resisted as it converges to that limit, not only in proportion to the inertial mass of the body (as in classical mechanics), but also in proportion to the velocity already attained.”

This is what I take this statement to mean:

Nothing can travel faster than the speed of light.

As a body approaches (e) the acceleration of (B) is restricted.

This restriction is the combination of the (M)ass of (B) and the (V)elocity of (B)

If (M) is part of the restriction of (e) and (V) is the other part of the restriction of (e)

Than as B approaches (e), (M) would be denser

Than as B approaches (e), (V) would level.

This would mean that M and V are relative to each other.

Hence e=M[C(sq)]

I think that I have a grasp. I will get to the hypothetical tomorrow.

Yes, I have nothing to say this weekend.

16 July 2005

These are a few of my favorite... Bushisms!

If this were a dictatorship, it'd be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator." —Washington, D.C., Dec. 19, 2000

Yup. I guess you would like that.

"I just want you to know that, when we talk about war, we're really talking about peace." —Washington, D.C. June 18, 2002

Someone please explain this concept to me. Please!!

"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we." —Washington, D.C., Aug. 5, 2004

That is a great one there sir. Perhaps you should think before you actually speak.

If you look at the Bushisms (at the source not on my blog) you may start to notice that Dubya refers to himself as a female quite a bit. Is this a sign of some form of repressed homosexual behavior? If so, how would the conservative right view this?

SOURCE

One more quick thing...

There is something scary happening in the rural areas of Germany. Neo-Nazism is surfacing at an alarming rate. According to Spiegel Online,
"In its annual report issued last week, the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution notes that neo-Nazi groups have experienced growth rates in excess of 25 percent. The number of crimes and violent acts committed by right-wing extremists is also growing, as is the frequency of skinhead concerts. Minister of the Interior Otto Schily says that the increasingly aggressive right-wing extremist movement is cause 'for great concern.'"

The reason: A flood of foreign born immigrants, mainly from the old soviet bloc countries.

Another problem is this,
"...as explosive as the situation is, German politicians, already feel overwhelmed. It is a sensitive issue which political leaders too often ignore or play down, especially since they are understandably doing their best not to encourage xenophobia."

So the German government, in not doing anything about the rising tide of hatred, is fueling this pandemic of hate and violence.

Is this the beginning of the Fourth Reich? What is going to happen in 20 years when these xenophobic youth begin to fill the ranks of the military, the offices of elected officials, and the roles of teachers in elementary schools and high schools? With an influx of fresh, xenophobic adults into the ranks of German society it is very possible that a new Hitler is among them.

Are we destined to relive a horrible time in which millions of humans were killed because of their ethnicity? Are concentration camps going to start springing up in suburban German towns? If these nightmares do come to happen what is the global community going to do about them?

It would be hard for me to believe that the United States of America would do anything to stop these actions, if these nightmares became a reality. Isn't that what we are doing now? Killing people based on their ethnicity? Our on-going struggle in Iraq, where mothers and daughters, fathers and sons, are dying at the hands of insurgents, because a faulty administration fooled the world into believing that the president of another country had weapons of mass-destruction, parallels the same theme.

To my dissenters: You can say as much as you want that the war is legal, and that we were attacked. However, the bottom line is this, as Bill Maher said it best on Larry King Live last year, "Ladies and gentlemen, on September 11, 2001, America was attacked by a squad of Saudi Arabians working out of Germany, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. And by that I mean we were attacked by Iraq."

The only people that fail to realize that this war is illegal are the people who either drive SUV's and think the war is needed to drive gas prices down (btw only eleven percent of our foreign dependence on oil goes to gasoline. Everything else is used to make plastics, synthetic fibers, computers, tires, etc.), or people who honestly believe that the US has complete control over the entire world (yeah, there are some gray areas).

ANYWAY, my point. Democracies do not wage war on other democracies (supposedly). So why would another fascist state want to wage war on their fascist brethren?

ONE FINAL THOUGHT:

Is this the face of the new Hitler?

or is this?

Before I rest my head to sleep..

As I was saying in response to Layla (View original post by here)
"You said, 'The happiest time of my entire life was when I was homeless in San Francisco. I felt that I could do anything, be anything, go anywhere, because I was not tied down by the restrictions put upon the average citizen by society. No red tape, no worries; only fresh air, and endless possibilities.'

Perhaps the dreamer in me, the one which I keep repressed, is the one that screams this message every time I think of hiking the AT. That sums up the entire reason for my wanting to go. The thought of living off of the grid, away from the daily rat-race we call existence is enough to drive someone to walk 2,000+ miles."

I just want to touch on this a bit.

I have had a dream to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail. Often, people around me ask questions to the effect of, Why? I do my best to explain my interest in pursing this adventure; spiritual reasons, a coming-of-age experience, political reasons, personal reasons, etc. I always tend to give them some half-answer and dismiss them for not knowing why. The problem is that none of these fulfill the requirements of a valid, logical answer..

A few people I talk to say that I am using this trail as a form of escapism; others say I am using to shirk responsibilities, and others (a few of the guys that I work with) say its because I am a crazy, white hippie. Again, here is another problem. NONE OF THESE fulfill the requirements of a valid, logical answer.

When people ask, I say it is a feeling that drives me to do this; an unexplainable urge that is drawing me to accomplish this task. I never could put a finger on what that urge was, until Layla posted her well written post.

Why do I want to hike the Appalachian Trail?

Because it is there. Just kidding.

To steal from Layla, "...because I [will] not [be] tied down by the restrictions put upon the average citizen by society. No red tape, no worries; only fresh air, and endless possibilities."

That is a valid and logical answer. If there is still confusion as to why I want to hike the AT, then you just won't get it.

My Sis said this...

"You love me, i love you, and mom loves potato chips."

Oh, how true that is.

I think my mother would sell her children for a bag of potato chips.

My Reply to you sis is this:

I love you, you love me, and mom is the biggest cunt I have ever met.

Anonymous Crushes and Random encounters.

Zach Parsi once wrote an article called, "The Art of the Crush." I had to read the article for an English course I was taking in college and when I read it, I didn't know exactly what Parsi was getting at. I thought that I had noticed undertones of homosexuality. At the time I think I saw what I wanted to see. I was dealing with the question of my sexuality at this time and I think I probably thought that it would be easier to relate to a story by projecting my repressed sexuality into it.

Anyway, Anonymous crushes. I just got back from the local organic grocery store. I went to the store to pick up some bio-degradable dish soap but ended up leaving with a brown paper bag of groceries. I picked up some polenta, a few cans of organic garbanzo beans, a jar of tahini, some sesame wafers and a HUGE crush. When I first walked in I noticed her standing at the check out lane; the first thing I noticed was her hair, SSN (shaved, short and natural). I also noticed that she was wearing a t-shirt, blue jeans, black converse all-stars, an apron (so that she can be spotted as an employee in the almost non-existent crowd), and the same framed glasses which I have.

She said, "Hi" and I gave my typical anti-social response; A very polite and friendly, but non-inviting wave of the hand. I roamed the intimate store like I was in a foreign land. I had been in there a few times, but never when there were so few people in the store, and never, ever, alone. I scanned the labels looking for some form of recognition. FLAX SEED. RED HOT MISO. FIRM TOFU. COD-LIVER OIL. SOY MILK. All of these things are familiar to me, but today I felt like I was reading Latin. I walked around some more and found the aisle that has the Household Chemicals. As I scanned the shelves (and the PRICES) I found two candidates for dish duty. Both of them where in the "Earth Friendly Products" line, but I had to choose between two flavors (or would it be scents), natural lavender or natural almond.

As I was making my decision I felt like I was being watched. I glanced over my shoulder and realized that SHE was looking at me. She gave me the same type of half-assed wave that I gave her when I went into the store, but she smiled afterwords and that is when my ANXIETY took over. All I came in for was dish-soap, but now I was too scared to just leave so I walked around a little bit more and listened to the inner-voice in my head.

SESAME WAFERS, yeah I will try those. Hummus would go great on these. I can make some.

I walked over to the canned good section and picked up two cans of beans. Now that you have this you need tahini. So I scoured the store for tahini and tried, with much failure, to stay out of the visual range of her. The check-out stand is in the front of the store but in the middle of the three aisles. One of the aisles is for fresh produce, and is blocked from view. So everything that I needed would be in her view. After about 5 minutes I finally found the jar. It would have been easier to just ask her where it was, but then I would have to talk to her, which wouldn't have been bad.

So I found the tahini, noticed some polenta, and thought to myself, if I keep wandering around the store out of fear, I will end up spending 100 bucks. So, I checked on one last item (which I didn't get) and made the journey to the check out lane.

Once I got there she said:

"Oh, you finally came up... I mean thank you for coming up so that I can ...I mean I could be wiping down the windows but that is just to...is this everything you need today?" I think she was quite embarrassed.

We engaged in small talk, her talking more than me, because I was afraid that if I opened my mouth, she would be able to hear my heart beating. She approvingly looked over my items, "Ahh, Chick Peas and tahini. Making Hummus? It goes great on the Sesame Wafers. Polenta, excellent choice. I think the traditional is better than the other." I just smiled and nodded, thinking to myself, OPEN YOUR FUCKING MOUTH FOOL.

She smiled, chatted a little more, than told me my total. I looked in my wallet for a twenty that I thought was in there, but wasn't and finally asked, "Do you take checks?" She nodded and laughed a bit. Then said, "You're a little shy aren't you?" I agreed, wrote the check and handed it to her.

Paper or Plastic? This question a few days ago, ended up getting a girl, who works at one of the corporate stores, head bit off. So remembering that tragic incident I meekly said, "Paper." She gave her approving nod, bagged my groceries and I left in quite a hurry. I could feel her eyes on me the whole way out of the store.

Anonymous crushes and random encounters make us remember how human we truly are. I will probably never be in the right place at the right time in order to talk to her again, and even if I was, I doubt anything more than a syllable would come out of my mouth. Random encounters and anonymous crushes. I never did get her name.

More on fear...

I do not allow anonymous comments because I fear that when someone hides under the banner of anonymity they hold all the power.

Fear.

I am inhuman. I never blog about what is happening with me, or what has happened in my past. The only things that I ever blog about are incoherent daily rants about things that I have came across on the internet, or read in a newspaper, or heard about on NPR. If I am not ranting about some trivial piece of fodder that I stumble upon, I talk about some concept that most people do not want to spend the time thinking about.

So most of my posts are about absolutely nothing. I never tell the story of who I am and where I came from. I never tell the story of how I came upon my beliefs.

But Why?

I think it has to do with fear. Fear controls me. I allow fear to dictate what I write and how I write. I never just write. No. I have to have a plan, I have to set forth arguments for or against some concept, ideology, or theory. I have to make a perfect argument on a position and this argument has to be constructed in such away that no counter-example can be given. I have to set my blog up so that it is an anti-drivel zone.

But Why?

Because I fear that I will be found out. I fear that I will be seen as the joke which I am. I live in fear everyday that someone is going to find out that my life is a farce. I fear that people are going to see me as stupid and I can not come to grips with the realization that I am not as intelligent as I think I am. I fear that there may be someone who is more intelligent than me and that this person has a perfect counter-example to my argument, and I will not be able to counter the counter-example. So in doing this I only blog about things I am 100% confident in, or about things that have no real answers.

I am a Joke...

I am a scared kid living in the world of grown-ups...

I am afraid...

I present myself as intelligent when in fact, I am not...

I allow others to view me as an inhuman creature...

Why?

Because I am afraid that all of my fears are a reality.

An apology...

C- I am glad that you are blogging. I think that it will help you understand more about your life. Things that are repressed will surface and soon enough, will be out in the open. Had I known about Zac I would have taken care of the problem. I can't help but think that I may have contributed to the abuse that you had to endure. I think back on all the times that I gave Zac shit; when he was helping me with the car and I kept making fun of him; when I would just treat him like shit because he would take it. Did anything that I ever said to your or Zac result in you taking a beating? You will never know how sorry I am for not being able to help you. I have failed you and N as a brother, because everyone (mom, you, N, Layla, your Dad, Layla's Mom) feared what would happen if I found out. So in keeping me in the dark, and ultimately protecting me, my little sisters took a beating that they will never recover from. I have always had to stumble upon the truth of what has happened in the family. No one ever tells me because they fear what I may do. In doing so, you were beat, among other things, and N was raped in the safety of her own home. I will never forgive myself for not being there for the two of you. I just can't help to think what would have been different had known.

art

Does “something” (meaning art, music, literature, etc) automatically have an aesthetic value? If so, who determines whether the value is positive or negative? If the value is positive or negative, what notation do we use in order to validate that claim? Is the notation a number and if so, is the number arbitrary or assigned by a committee of aesthetic value? Regardless of how the number is assigned, what positive number signifies a high aesthetic value, and which number signifies a low, positive aesthetic value? Does this positive rating have a cap, which signifies a perfect positive aesthetic value?

If these values are numbers and positive numbers indicate a positive aesthetic value, varying from high aesthetic value, the highest being perfection, to low aesthetic value, based on the common sequence of numbers, than how do personal taste and perceptions of the “something” skew the value?

~A

*Note to reader* I understand that in saying a committee, that I imply that “something” is standardized and that if something is standardized, it is not an automatic value. However, lets overlook this just a bit.

...

Trying to get back into the "flow". Random thoughts often lead to coherent posts.

I have recently, been thinking about the message in Atlas Shrugged. What exactly is the message? What is Ayn Rand trying to accomplish and how does that effect me? If the message is what I think it is how can I have the beliefs that I have, yet embrace the beliefs of Ayn Rand?

Not too long ago, on a distant, never to be named blog, I wrote a post about whether Ayn Rand's work qualifies as philosophy or not. I think I came to the conclusion that it, in fact, did not. However, I am starting to wonder if I had mislead myself into that conclusion. DAMN! I wish I could find the post.

My question for myself is this:

How is it possible to live a life holding the beliefs that you do, yet at the same time embrace the beliefs of the heroine and heroes in Atlas Shrugged? In other words, how can you believe in a concept, wholeheartedly, when you agree with both polar extremes of that concept?

Although I speak of a utopian voluntary regional collectivism, I still want to be selfish. Can selfishness exist in an egalitarian collective society? If a member of this society acted selfish what ramifications would that have on the collective majority?

If a citizen, in a communal society, acts in his best interest, ideally he would be acting in the collective's best interest. However, if the best interest of the citizen is not the best interest of the collective, is this act bad? What if the act, which initially seemed to be selfish, in the future produced a greater good for the collective, would this act still be seen as selfish?

Just rambling, never mind me.

Greetings...

I have been up for almost 24 hours. I am dead tired, however, I can feel the cogs in my brain starting to turn. Why is it that I and a few others that I know, are at thier intellectual best when they have been up for longer than 20 hours? The downside of course, is that grammar and spelling go out the door, but in my case that is irrelevant.

anyway, going to bed now. My wife is naked sitting in a chair...

Celissa said...

I believe in God. I know you and half the people I talk to don’t like my religion, but I believe in Him. He has done many miracles for me.

Sis -

I don’t know if I was really talking about the belief aspect of God. I was asking if anyone viewed God as a form of reality? I can not quite pin-point WHAT exactly I am getting at I just felt compelled to ask the question.

And I don’t hate your religion. What I hate is your blind faith just as I hate the fundamentalists blind faith.

What exactly is a miracle? How do you define a miracle? Semantically speaking when I hear the word miracle I automatically associate the word with an experience that is very rare; an experience that happens only to a very limited number of people. But you also said that, “he has done many miracles for me?” When I hear the word “many” I automatically associate the word with a massive quantity. (This may not be the case in all cultures, as some view any number larger than 2 as many.) Now if my understanding of the word miracle and many is wrong, which could very well be true, then your understanding lends miracles to everyday garden coincidences.

If the God that you believe in “hands-out” miracles then in which sense should an experience, a run-of-good-luck, or a happenstance coincidence be defined as a true miracle?

The last thing that I want to say is this:

Who said that your God is a male? I do not know of any man that has ever given birth. Do you? When I think of a God figure I think of a woman. Perhaps, it is semantics about word associations when I hear “creationism“. (Which, by the way, was adapted from a chronology of the history of the world, published in 1650, by James Ussher, which argues that God created the world in 4004 BC. But we will not even get into that.)

So if God is a man, and God, as a man, created the universe, then why is that men do not create life? (Yes they help, but lets overlook this for a second) Men do not have a birth (creation?) canal. So how is it that a man named God “gave birth” to the universe?

...

God as a form (or the form depending on who you talk to) of reality. What do you think? Thoughts, complaints, rational?

Was McVeigh a Muslim?

"We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity. We weren't punctilious about locating and punishing only Hitler and his top officers. We carpet-bombed German cities; we killed civilians. That's war. And this is war."

Let us celebrate Independence Day?

It used to be that when I found articles that interested me I would take the article and interject my own thoughts. However, I feel that this article is strong enough that I shouldn't have to explain what is going on. If your eyes still are not opened after reading this perhaps they never will open. Enjoy...

FOURTEEN CHARACTERISTICS OF FASCISM

Dr. Lawrence Britt, a political scientist, wrote an article about fascism which appeared in Free Inquiry magazine, a journal of humanist thought. Dr. Britt studied the fascist regimes of Hitler (Germany), Mussolini (Italy), Franco (Spain), Suharto (Indonesia), and Pinochet (Chile). He found the regimes all had 14 things in common, and he calls these the identifying characteristics of fascism. The article is titled "Fascism Anyone?," and appears in Free Inquiry’s Spring 2003 issue on page 20.

The 14 characteristics are:

1.. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism – Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.

2.. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights – Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to ‘look the other way’ of even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.

3.. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause – The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe; racial, ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists; terrorists, etc.

4.. Supremacy of the Military – Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.

5.. Rampant Sexism – The government if fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Opposition to abortion is high, as is homophobia and anti-gay legislation and national policy.

6.. Controlled Mass Media – Sometimes the media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or through sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in wartime, is very common.

7.. Obsession with National Security – Fear is used as a motivation tool by the government over the masses.

8.. Religion and Government are Intertwined – Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government’s policies or actions.

9.. Corporate Power is Protected – The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders in power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.

10.. Labor Power is Suppressed – Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely or are severely suppressed.

11.. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts – Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts is openly attacked, and governments often refuse to fund the arts.

12.. Obsession with Crime and Punishment – Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses, and even forego civil liberties, in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations.

13.. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption – Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions, and who use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability.

14.. Fraudulent Elections – Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against (or even the assassination of) the opposition candidates, the use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and the manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.

Sex Offenders...

What should society do about / with sex offenders?

All truths are lies...

In a comment Layla said this:
All truths are lies, anyhow.

The normal definition of a truth automatically makes this statement complete false, illogical and quite unintelligent. However, if we agree that there are degrees of truth, and therefore degrees of falsity, then the statement is true. If we look at the statement, with out any qualifiers, "cats are black" then we automatically believe this statement to be false because we know that not all cats are black. However, if we actually think about the statement we can see that there is truth in the statement (as well as falsity). Granted not every cat in the universe is black, but there are *some* that are. Therefore even though this statement appears to be false, the statement is partially true, and we have an example of a varying degree of truth.

thoughts that never say anything disturb me.

Feel like there is an empty space in my head. This could be viewed two different ways.

Very good or Very Bad

Good because if there is an empty space with no relevant thoughts then I can fill the space with relevant thoughts. Bad because I have no thoughts.

01 July 2005

......

Quite near a year ago today (4 July to be exact) I began my first blog. Instead of saying how great it was, how brilliant I felt when writing it, etc, I could just give you a link to the site. However, in a fit of rage I deleted the damn thing and have not been able to type anything substantial in months.

If I could just get past this, "Everything has been said. What is the sense?" mentality, I feel that I could, at least, contribute something worthwhile. Most blogs I come across are journals of everyday life. They exist as an outlet for the souls on the other end. These blogs are cornucopia of human existence. They make me sick, but who am I to judge someone for being able to do something that I can not?

Why is it that I feel the need to contribute something worthwhile and substantial? Is this feeling of worthlessness brought on by the fact that I find flaws in every piece of my own writing? Is this feeling of self-loathing brought about by my own inability to allow myself to feel, for one second, human? What is this urge to enlighten and educate?

I have forgotten HOW to put together ideas and thoughts to form coherent, logical, and well thought-out posts. Good day

~A
