Recently we held our very first Premier Site Summit at the Square Enix offices. We invited the heads of our Premier Sites to attend an all day event where we would discuss the state of the community, strengthen our communication, and participate in some fun in-game events. Two representatives each from Allakhazam, FFXI Online, Stratics, Warcry, FFXI Vault and FFXIclopedia were in attendance, as well as the Square Enix Community team, North American Producer Yasu Kurosawa and Global Online Producer Sage Sundi. The main topic of the summit was explaining just how the Community team researches the issues that are most important to our players. We discussed how we read the forums, e-mail and in-game feedback and how we are constantly reporting the hottest topics to the appropriate people. The Premier Sites got an extremely intimate look at the work that is done behind the scenes and were able to witness just how many people are involved in keeping FINAL FANTASY XI running smoothly.
We're extremely happy with how the event went and are hoping to continue strengthening our ties to not only the Premier Sites, but the community as a whole. Take a look at the wrap up reports below for more details about every aspect of the summit.
Reader Mail For 04/03/07[ Comment ] Print News | Category: Site News As I was reading this...I started to feel a joy that I haven't felt in a while. It is a really good idea. I mean, a REALLY good idea. It was posted on the 31st, so I kind of had my guard down. But yeah, i was there until the last line of the post. I didn't even click the link until later.
Good job guys...and you should pitch this to SE, heh. It would be an awesome expansion.

Our April fools gag this year tricked a lot of people including many Vault staff and management. We know the happiness that entered most readers minds when they read our exclusive on the Midgar expansion and we wish we could bring it to you for real.
Although it is highly unlikely that the world of Midgar would cross over in to VanaDiel, fans can still hold out hope for Squares next generation MMO. While we know absolutely nothing about that project: it doesnt stop the fan based rumor mill from churning until official details are released.
Thanks so much for writing in! If any of your fellow readers have something to add on the subject of Squares Next MMO they can always reach us at FinalFantasyVault@gmail.com!
This week's topic is: Egg hunt Holiday Fun. Will you be participating? Will you be organizing a group event based around this in game celebration? Please give us all the details by responding to our latest TotW!
The Egg Hunt Egg-stravagana is a yearly event where adventurers collect special items known as "initial eggs" and try to form various combinations of letters.
Every port of Vana'diel is abuzz with rumors of the new prizes being offered during this year's event. One of these prizes is the curious "egg helm." Crafted by the finest goldsmiths, these helmets were commissioned by renowned gourmand Royaulais Chalaimbille II, Twelfth King of San d'Oria. They were created for the sole purpose of properly equipping his "Soft-boiled Knights" as they quested for the most delectable eggs in the kingdom.
The second prize is rumored to be the exquisite "jeweled egg," a scintillating masterpiece crafted with the most advanced refraction techniques the Grand Duchy of Jeuno has to offer.
Recreate the egg hunts of the past with your own band of soft-boiled knights and see how many letter combinations you can make!
Before you know it, you too could be standing proud--or at least standing--with your very own egg helm!
How to Play
1. Collect Initial Eggs!
During the Egg Hunt, adventurers can receive a random initial egg from the festival moogles once every Vana'diel day. If you are in a party when speaking with a moogle, it is possible to choose an initial egg inscribed with the first letter of a party member's name. And if that party member happens to be wearing an egg helm...
*Newly created characters must wait at least one Vana'diel day before they can receive an initial egg.
And for those who just can't get enough...
Try trading any type of "egg" to a moogle. Once every Vana'diel day, you might find that the moogles will gift you with an initial egg in exchange for a "normal" egg.
2. Make a "First 3" Combination!
First of all, try collecting the initial eggs required to make a "First 3" combination. Once you have the eggs you need, trade them to a moogle to receive your prize!
First 3: Collect the first three letters of your character's name
For egg-sample, a character with the name of "Moogle" would need to collect one [M], and two [O] initial eggs.
3. Take it to the Next Level!
Once you've made a First 3, why not try something more difficult, like an "Initial Straight 8", or a "7 of a Kind"?
And for those of you who are looking for a real challenge, try discovering different, more egg-citing combinations. Maybe you'll find the right combination to take home the coveted "jeweled egg"!
*Don't forget that you'll have to trade in a "First 3" before you can trade in any other combos. Think of it as a sort of preliminary test!
Initial Straight 8: The first letter of your character's name, followed by the next seven letters in the alphabet
For egg-sample, a character with the name of "Moogle" would need an [M], as well as an [N], [O], [P], [Q], [R], [S], and [T].
7 of a Kind: Seven initial eggs with the same letter
For egg-sample, you could choose to collect seven [A] initial eggs.
Hints
The moogles are usually egg-stremely reluctant to give out any of their classified information, but maybe if you are persistent enough, one will let you in on a secret or two! Make it a point to talk to them as often as possible!
Event Details
This event is scheduled to commence on April 2, 2007 at 1:00,and will last until April 16, 2007 at 1:00 (PDT).
Event Locations
You will be able to find the moogles and all the festival fun for the Egg Hunt Egg-stravaganza in the following areas:
Southern San d'Oria
Northern San d'Oria
Bastok Mines
Bastok Markets
Windurst Woods
Windurst Waters
Final Fantasy Vault has gotten an exclusive scoop on the next possible expansion for Final Fantasy XI. Sources close to Square Enix have revealed to FF Vault that the next expansion is tentatively titled Final Fantasy XI: Mystery of Midgar. We have some of the first details on this expansion, hold on to your hat youre in for a shock.
The title is currently undergoing preproduction at the Shimonoseki offices in Japan. While the story is currently under development rumor has it that the expansion will allow Final Fantasy XI races to begin anew within a Midgar like environment. It is quite clear that is not going to be the orginal Midgar from Final Fantasy VII but rather some sort of spin-off.
The team is currently planning expansions to the crafting and weapon systems to incorporate both Materia and the Shinra Corporation in to the game in some fashion. It is however not confirmed if any famous FFVII characters will make appearances. It is more likely that this title will introduce several FFVII themed weapons rather than an actual cross over.
Square is currently aiming for a Summer 2008 for release on this expansion. It could very well be the last expansion to the world of VanaDiel but square is certainly going out with a bang.

Column - The Heart of FFXI Print News | Category: Site News Evanwander has posted his latest column. Unlike his usual views in to Vana'Diel this week he is searching for the stories from readers. He also shares one of his own adventures from the streets of Jeuno. Check out the full article for details!
There is a street in Jeuno that is always filled with a myriad collection of people. These people trade and sell, tell stories and meet up with old friends, seek adventures and excitement, and do a variety of other actions that can occur within a moment of human interaction. It is amusing at times to watch them, as I sit at the gaming table trying my hand at risky fortune. Yet, unbeknownst to these gathered crowds a thought has gathered that it is revealing and humbling. These people, these gathered masses are the life source of Vanadiel.
Gathering my wits I toss another hand of cards. Busted! It does not come as a surprise; Lady Luck hasnt been kind to me for several days past. Turning into the street I walk into the heart of Vanadiel. Listening to the hum of life as people talk about whatever is currently on their mind. My mind is currently a bustle, as well, with a churning sea of ideas that could match the confusion of a hunting party with nothing but warriors.
GameDaily has posted a review of FFXI just in time for the newest version update. They scored the Xbox 360 "2007" Edition of the game a seven out of 10. We've got their review below:
Final Fantasy finally comes to a Microsoft console with the latest expansion for Final Fantasy XI. Including all three expansions, anyone who has yet to try out FFXI or simply wants to upgrade from the PS2 or PC will find everything they need in the $60 Xbox 360 title. The graphics are a bit dated when compared to just about any other Xbox 360 title, but it's the best looking version of FFXI out there. You'll need a USB keyboard to get the most out of the title, and you'll also need to be prepared for the installation process that will take upwards of four hours to complete. However, once you're in find some friends and start adventuring in the huge world of Vana'diel.
The PlayOnline registration server will be unavailable due to maintenance at the following time. During this time, users will be unable to register or unsubscribe PlayOnline accounts, review or update their member information, or review, purchase, cancel, or reactivate Content IDs.
Also if there is a problem with your payment method, then you may be automatically disconnected from gameplay during the maintenance period. To avoid this, please complete all necessary billing changes in advance.
