CoH Vault Poll - Signature Heros[ 8 Comments ] Print News | Mail News It's about that time! Yep, time for a new poll! In our last poll we asked you fine folks which epic AT you liked better out of the Warshade and PeaceBringer. Not suprisingly, most of the votes went to "Meh, they are the same." But coming runner up, Warshade had the second most votes. This time around we want to know who is your favourite signature hero. There are more than are listed on the poll of course, but wanted to keep the list somewhat small. My fave is ShadowStar but sadly she isn't popular enough to make the list. So place your vote or leave a comment if it didn't make the cut!
Questions for Jack Emmert[ Comment ] Print News | Mail News WarCry.com is asking fans of the City of series to leave their questions for the Statesman himself for their next installment of their "Ask a Dev" interviews. Don't know much about the head honcho himself? You can check out this bio page of the main man to learn more! Be sure to leave your questions in the comment section and they will hopefully get answered next month.
WarCry Interview with Positron[ 2 Comments ] Print News | Mail News WarCry has posted up their monthly interview with Cyrptic Studios and this time they get to fire off a few questions to Matt 'Positron' Miller about some of the possible upcoming changes to the game that people have been wondering about. The interview covers colour customization, server transfers, new Epic AT's and powersets. Here's a snippy:
WarCry [Reighn328]: Are there any plans to, and if so when are they going to, redo the early level content? Over the past two years the mission design has gotten much better, but I'm still running the same old missions I was running when I started. From a new player point of view, I know some of the very early mission doors are deep within red zones. As a new player, I would find that very frustrating, to not even be able to make it to my first mission when I'm still actively trying to learn the game.
Matt Miller: Included with the launch of Issue 8, we revamped Faultline, introducing a whole zone of new content for level 15 to 25 Heroes. Our biggest concern right now is the level 35 to 40 content (for Heroes) and level 40 to 50+ content for both Heroes and Villains. After we address these levels, we will look where the community wants us to focus our attention, and if there is a strong enough voice, then the early level stuff will get looked at again.
City of Heroes Re-Reviewed[ Comment ] Print News | Mail News AFKMagazine.com has posted up their latest issue and within is a re-review of City of Heroes. The review goes into pretty good details about the game and covers a lot of the bases. Along with the review, they also give a nice little side bar that shows you which Issue brought what to the game. You can find the review on pages 48-49 of the flash magazine and you can scroll in on the smaller text with the mouse wheel. You can see how City of Heroes scored in the Re-review from AFK MAgazine right here!
Love is in the air[ 4 Comments ] Print News | Mail News Over on the Training Room, the Valentines Day Event is running all this weekend to give it some testing before going live. The event is just like the Winter Event where missions are handed out through Pocket D and you will get to fight...dun dun dun...Snaptooth once again. For your efforts, rewards seem to be costume pieces such as sandals, laurels and something "hearty" as well as a badge or two for your troubles. I've been trying to log on to the server all morning to snap some pics but to no avail. If you have access to the Test server and want to get an early look at the Valentines Day Event, hop on and give it a spin!
Invention Spoilers[ Comment ] Print News | Mail News | Category: City of Heroes It seems there is a wee bug over on the training room that allows you to run the introductory story arc for the invention system. The post on the official forums goes into pretty good details about how to access the missions as well as everything else you need to do to complete the arc. If you don't want to ruin the suprise for when Issue 9 rolls around, don't look! But for everyone else, you can read the dirt right here.
Test Patch Notes - 01/29/07[ 3 Comments ] Print News | Mail News | Category: City of Heroes The test server rolled out one patch to the live server and is now testing another one on the Training Room. This patch that landed on the test server last night fixes a bunch of animation problems as well as rooting and power times. There is also apparently a fix for the cape issue which seemed to be causing a lot of crashes. Here's to hoping it fixes it for everyone like me who crap out every twenty minutes of play. You can read the full test patch notes here.
Topic of the Week - The Grind[ 17 Comments ] Print News | Mail News | Category: City of Heroes Now that the double XP weekend is over, it's time to bring up that age old question: Should leveling be faster in CoX? What about debt? Leave it or totally remove it? To me it seems that leveling for the first 15-20 levels is a good pace but after that it can get so tiresome. Case in point it took me god knows how long to get my 50 there from only 46 or 47. I understand that farming portal missions is the quickest way to ding the last few levels, but seriously why should that be? Even doing it that way is long and tedious. Too long, IMO. Also on the subject of debt, I 'd like to see an option to have all the XP go to paying it off like it does when you are exemped, but without needing to be. Anywhoo...enough rambling, what are your thoughts?

Grab the incredibly huge file and get playing! Start now and it might be finished by the end of the weekend!
Patch Notes - 01/25/07[ 2 Comments ] Print News | Mail News | Category: City of Heroes When logging on to the servers today, you will find yourself taking a little bit of extra time as a 13 Meg patch is downloaded. The patch was on Test for a pretty short time but seems to be running well enough to release. The patch feature a numerous amount of change and fixes, ranging from mission glitches to power animation faux pas and base rent changes. I hope this is the patch that fixes my crashing and allows me to play more than 20 minutes at a time. For a full list of fixes and changes and all the sweet new features this patch brings to you, you can check out the patch notes on the official site!

We could use a hand in updating the site in different areas such as badges, enemies and anything else that new Issues throw at us. If you are interested in giving the site a helping hand, drop me a line and let me know! You can contact me at cyric@vaultnetwork.com. Thanks!
