January 6, 2006 - IGN has always been on top of things; that's why we periodically gather a list of the nastiest game-stopping glitches and offer recommendations on how to avoid them. While not everyone is destined to experience the same "bugs", we know how frustrating they can be for the gamers who do face them. Here're some recently reported glitches/bugs to look out for:God of War, Prince of Persia Two Thrones, and SOCOM 2.
God Of War

Bug/Glitch: After opening the the third gate and jumping across the platforms in front of the Architect's tomb, I'm unable to enter the room even though all three gates are open. It's like there's an invisible wall there. I've tried it about ten times and I'm ready to put my foot through the TV. Please help!

Prince of Persia Two Thrones

Bug/Glitch: Audiovisual cues supposedly missing for speed kills.
Fix/Solution: Not consistent to be listed as a glitch; animations for speed kill differ with each enemy (there are at least two) and may be mistaken for glitch. Having sand tanks to rewind allows player to undo missed attack window. Difficulty level will affect strike window for speed kill.

SOCOM 2 US Navy SEALS

Bug/Glitch: SOCOM 2 (PS2) freezes after completion of Stranglehold Mission (5th mission) - after viewing mission statistics and pressing X to continue. That means, you can't proceed wth the game anymore. Arghh!
Fix/Solution: Examined CD for scratch; cleaned CD and try completing game again; exchanged for a new SOCOM II disc from where you purchased the game; open and close the cover when game froze (disc reading will stop and restart); erect PlayStation 2 vertical before game starts (as suggested at a forum); give a little tap on the console when game freezes (as suggested at a forum); followed to the letter the walkthrough provided by PlayStation Tech Support - have at least 2 frag grenades at the completion of the mission. IGN is my absolute last resort! Please help me! Yeah, no help. Possible DRE. Fix your PS2.
