H2H Ideas

I love the head 2 head series. This series is a service to all gamers. Keep the comparisons coming. I would like it if there was some editor commentary with the h2h videos. I think it would be good to have 2 editors either one from each system or editors that are completely neutral like 2 wii, comics, or music editors doing comparisons. Anyway keep up the good work with h2h and HD videos.

Thanks for the kind words, Christopher. We've done a few H2H videos with commentary in them before, most recently our Grudge Matches between NBA 2K7 and NHL 07. I agree it adds a lot more to the video comparisons when someone is pointing out all the little things that separate two versions of one game, especially since those differences can be really hard to notice. The reason why we don't do it more often is because It's very time consuming to capture and edit synchronized video like we do in our H2H's and adding voice over into the mix just makes it even more so. You'll see many more Video H2H's in the future, though so keep checking back in to Insider every day.

Resistance Vs. Gears

I just played Resistance in co-op for a few hours on the PS3, on a brand new 50 inch Samsung DLP. It was fun, but I have to admit that it was not as fun as Gears in co-op, and it was not as visually impressive (as Gears). I am envious of the vertical split screen though ;) Gears needs that.

AFA controllers, I much prefer the controller for the 360. The Sixaxis is good, just very familiar and ...well... boring.

If a store had a deal where I could swap my 360 for a PS3, I wouldn't do it. The PS3 really does seem to be the less entertaining of the two systems at the moment. That could all change if a few killer PS3 exclusives come out, then again Mass Effect, Blue Dragon, Lost Planet and Halo 3 look hotter to me than MotorStorm, Lair, and Heavenly Sword.

PlayaStation Hatin'

What is it with you guys, You hate the PS3. We know that people aren't buying the PS3 for one game they are buying it for all it has to offer and it's future. The 360 came out were people buying it for Perfect dark? I hope not. Anyway I have a 360 with GoW and a PS3. I love my 360 and PS3 and all I can say is for some reason I quit playing GoW about half way through- very repetitive yet I am on my second play of RFoM and still liking it. To me that is what makes a good game.

Hey man, I agree with you. With videogames, replay value is like 75% of my purchasing decision. That and potential boob exposure, which explains why I'm still playing Oblivion and DOAX2.

Joking about DOAX2.

Obviously some of the comparisons between the PS3 and 360 that are being made right now aren't completely fair. I do remember it was about 4-5 months after the 360 launch that we started to see great games like Oblivion and Fight Night in stores, and Resistance is a better game than anything 360 had available for launch, no doubt. But that's the advantage of being first to market, and it's also what happens when you get up on stage and say things to the world like "The next generation starts when we say it does" and immediately proceed to drop a game like Mobile Suit: Gundam on the masses. The press will rip you apart. Microsoft knew that if they beat the PS3 to launch then by the time the PS3 was hitting its stride and consistently releasing good games it would have to compete with huge AAA titles like Halo 3, Mass Effect, and Blue Dragon.

The Weaker Launch?

People criticize the PS3 launch for a lack of good titles, but comparing your PS3 to Wii reviews the PS3 average looks better, even with the UK/AU score adjustments for the Wii. Obviously there's a lack of units, but everyone seems to forget the 360 scarcity. Just give it time, big games are coming next year and only PS3 gamers will be able to Play Beyond...

You're absolutely right. The PS3 has been receiving all kinds of negative press regarding it's launch lineup despite the fact that the Wii has been getting lower review scores across the board from critics worldwide. But that's what happens when one $250 system's launch goes smoothly while another company flubbed the launch of a $600 system.

And what does "Play Beyond" mean exactly? Play games "beyond" what you've already been playing? Does that mean that - by definition -
PS3 games are "outside the understanding, limits, or reach of;" or "superior to;" all the games we've ever played? Because I can say that Genji isn't "beyond" anything. Except maybe the first Genji, which wasn't really beyond anything except Gundam (I'm beating a dead horse here), triple butt cancer, and Excite Truck.

Random Questions of the Week

I presently have the Call of Duty PC2346617 installed on my computer. The Call of Duty 3, Playstation 2 was given to me for Christmas. Can I install this on my computer or is there a different Call of Duty 3 that I need to change this one for?
