ToTW: Crafting![ 2 Comments ] Print News | Mail News | Category: Topic of the week Many of us enjoy crafting in-game. Whether it is because it's a good way to spend time while doing something else, or just because it's relaxing to do we all have a reason to be crafting. However over the years it started becoming stale, because while the game was evolving it didn't seem like crafting was actually evolving along with it. Last few patches have introduced interesting elements to crafting... and this week's ToTW goes with that...
How do you like the new crafting changes, and what have you been working on since the patch went live?

Week in Review[ 5 Comments ] Print News | Mail News | Category: Topic of the week Well that patch sure is something, huh? Can't say that I'm in love with the 8-second lifetap thing. Hopefully they add something cool later in the suppression line to make it not-so-stinky. The crafting stuff, on the other hand, is great. My spellcrafter was stuck at 700 and it just took a day to take him over 1,000 post-changes.

Dark Age of Camelot
1.87 Release Notes
Tradeskill and Class Changes
January 11, 2007
===================================
In this version we continue to focus on class and skill enhancements, balance, and tradeskill improvements as well as improving the functionality of basic game systems. While a great many class changes have been made in this patch cycle, we will continue to focus on class changes across all realms for version 1.88 and future patches.
With 1.85 we granted a free Mythic Respec to every character in recognition of the many changes to the game which were made over the last year. With 1.87, we continue to move forward with class enhancements and understand that players will need to adjust accordingly. To make this process easier on our players, we are pleased to announce we have decided to grant all characters a Mythic Respec with every patch starting today with 1.87.
The Dark Age of Camelot Vault would like to introduce its newest feature, spotlighting the guilds and players of Dark Age of Camelot. Our next interview comes from Hibernia on the Igraine server. Telling us about himself is Nitty (aka Knitty, Gritty, Nittay, Slooply).

GOA & EA-MYTHIC UNVEIL THE DETAILS FOR THE RELEASE OF THE NEW DARK AGE OF CAMELOT EXPANSION: LABYRINTH OF THE MINOTAUR TM
10th January 2007 Paris, France: Today, GOA will announce the details for the European release of the seventh expansion of the massively multiplayer online role-playing game, Dark Age of Camelot: Labyrinth of the Minotaur. The expansion will be available on the 14th of February 2007, and will celebrate the fifth anniversary of the famous EA Mythic and GOA MMORPG in Europe.
By the way, several things from earlier 1.87 versions have generated quite a bit of discussion this patch. I'm going to try and hit the big ones in the Friday grab bag, and if any of these turn into hot potato items, I'll add 'em, so get those questions in.
Don't forget - servers down tomorrow from 8 to 2 EST.

Citizen Report
8 January
Filed by Captain Ryder, Humberton Village
Gert Elm, armor merchant of Humberton, reported this morning that she was preparing her washing on the nearby riverbank and came upon a great footprint in the mud there. A small party was sent to investigate, and confirmed her statement. The print was long enough for one man to fit inside, lying down, and was reported to be lizard-like in shape.
In addition, a young traveler who did not leave his name reported a scorch mark along the northernmost stone bridge, which was nearly the length of two men. This report has also been confirmed. A team has been dispatched to clean the bridge. Samples of the burn will be sent off to be investigated by the scholars of the Academy.
There will be no patch notes this afternoon when Pendragon returns - everything we're doing today is preparation for the patch, and some behind the scenes maintenance. Just wanted to let you know so you guys wouldn't expect patch notes!

Mystery of the Minotaur - A column by Mozah[ 7 Comments ] Print News | Mail News | Category: Topic of the week We have all heard tales of the mighty minotaur but few of us have actually had the time to sit down and find out who, and what exactly the minotaur are. Mozah has done all the research for us and with the first part of his column, introduces us to how they came to be.
As an Albion, I remember the days when the world ended at Lyonesse. Sitting in its ruin, waiting for your name to be called to battle the trees that infested those deadened woods. Albion was small then. Expansion after expansion has taken us beyond our confines and into worlds never dreamt of by Arthur.
From a mythology standpoint, Labyrinth of the Minotaur is a logical progression from Trials of Atlantis. The Greek mythos was introduced there. We were given our centaurs and harpies; even our statuesque machinations as we hopped from island to island. What lacked, however, was a champion of that realm. So, why the Minotaur? To answer that question, one must understand those that played their parts in the real story of the Minotaur.
