DevBlog: Oveur Gives a Look Ahead - Revelations 1.3 at the end of the month, warfare focus, and anti-blobness... read all about it!
"I was sitting right next to a station in the middle of Jita in a cloud of over fifty ships. There were over 500 pilots in this system alone and every one of them was panicking over the hulking menacing ship that had appeared in their presence . The numbers swelled even more as the ships that had been chasing me in Kisogo flew through the Jita gate. Then the comm unit started blaring out "Attention pirate Titan! This is Concord control of Jita. Heave to or be hulled!"
Oveur Waxes Poetic[ Comment ] Print News | Mail News | Category: EVE: Online News In his latest blog, Oveur waxes poetic about topics ranging from Eve in general, to the Revelations patches, to why wars are fought and what the goals of those wars are. We also get a little insight into what the devs are thinking about bringing us in the next few updates and expansions...
"We want to improve the goalsetting in warfare, by improving and adding options to player buildable infrastructure. This means improving Starbases, Outposts, Stations and Sovereignty. However, Warfare also needs something to fight with, so we want more tactical and strategic components there."

"Just a reminder that the sixth issue of E-ON magazine will be sent out to buyers next week, very probably on the 10th. We're aware that there have been a couple of recent issues with the ordering system, but we're assured that it's all been fixed.
It may also interest you to know (though perhaps not) that after 18 months of gammy legs and sudden headaches, I've run out of excuses to get out of joining the other MMM regulars on envelope-stuffing duty. So, not only will you get your mag a couple of days early, along with a free booster pack of 15 CCG cards, but your magazine could be handled by yours truly. Yes, I might even wash my hands in celebration. You lucky, lucky people :) "
RISE To Occupy Former ASCN Space[ 5 Comments ] Print News | Mail News | Category: EVE: Online News According to sources in the Minmatar Revival, RISE will be taking up residence in the former ASCN home region of Feythabolis. Has RISE actually struck a deal with the devil to claim a larger and more profitable slice of the galaxy? This has not been confirmed yet by RISE or BoB. Details on this devloping situation can be found in the Eve-O Forums. A thread is developing in the Eve Vault forums as well. More on this story as it develops...
Eve 2d Maps Update[ 2 Comments ] Print News | Mail News | Category: EVE: Online News Ombey released version 3.34 of his 2d Eve Maps last week. This, in my opinion, is one of the greatest out-of-game resources available. Here is a short list of some of the updates Ombey has performed in this release...
showing station services in each system
no. of asteroid belts in each system
black and white printout friendly improvements
showing constellation jumps
highlighting high sec to low sec jump lines- both to warn players who don't want to venture into low sec, and to warn players who's sec status is -5.0 or below that they are entering high sec
de-tangle the maps where possible (eg. get rid of crossed lines)
small cosmetic improvements to make the maps clearer
See Ombey's version history for a full list of changes. Great work Ombey!
CVA and PIE have banded together in a war against the Electus Matari alliance. Bobum has a writeup on the recent declaration, and the full thread is running on the EVE-O boards. The Screenshot of the week was of the old school HUD, and the rest of the week was rather quiet.
Coming soon! Guides! Look forward to guides and other cool content this month as we kick off 2007!
An older screenshot, this one shows off both the graphics of EVE and the earlier HUD design. Equipment slots were inside the circular gauge system, and distance/orientation was indicated by the blue hemisphere.

Amarr vs. Minmatar[ 5 Comments ] Print News | Mail News | Category: Site News Curatores Veritatis Alliance(CVA) has joined forces with Praetoria Imperialis Excubitoris Inc. (PIE) in a war against the Electus Matari alliance in response to what CVA claims is an "assault on our brothers in PIE". Calling them "terrorists", Hardin of the CVA made the following statement today about the Electus Matari and the ensuing CVA declaration of war against them...
"It has come to our attention that a number of Minmatar terrorist organisations have banded together to attack our loyal friends in Praetoria Imperialis Excubitoris (PIE).
While the CVA is primarily focused on developing and expanding the Empire into 'Amarrian' Providence, PIE has always focused on defending Amarrian interests within the Empire's existing borders. However, these differing roles have not prevented the CVA and PIE from working with each other in the interests of Amarr.
Due to the size of the current terrorist assault on our brothers in PIE, the CVA will be declaring war on the Electus Matari alliance and will join PIE in teaching these terrorist Minmatars the error of their ways.
Once again we shall demonstrate the superiority of Amarrian martial skills. Our ships are being readied, our pilots are being prepared. Soon these new terrorists shall be bathed in the holy cleansing light of Amarrian lasers. Soon they will learn the price of terrorism."
The official Electus Matari response was quick in coming as Meklon of EM posted the following terse reply...
"Praetoria Imperialis Excubitoris and the Curatores Veritatis Alliance both continue to make their false claims of the Electus Matari being a terrorist organisation under the pretenses of mis-information that the Imperial Human Resources corporation had given.
Praetoria Imperialis Excubitoris were the initial aggressors towards this unjust cause, which caused our Allies, without our request, to jump to our aid and to keep Republic space clear of their slaver orientated organisation.
Seeing as they became heavily out-numbered and out-gunned, instead of backing down like the dogs they are, they have instead ran crying to the Curatores Veritatis Alliance for help, for like most greedy Amarrians, they bit off more then they could chew.
Now, Hardin, on behalf of Electus Matari, you are now also classed as PIE Inc. have been as terrorists towards the Republic for aiding and abetting known illegal slave running corporations and as such you will be given the same treatment as those who needed your help.
We shall soon bath under the wreckage of your ships Amarr and it will be you who will learn the price of terrorism."
"On Thursday, 4 January, Tranquility will undergo an extended 24 hour downtime for external network infrastructure changes and database server software updates. We do not expect the changes and upgrade to exceed 12 hours and hope to allow connections to Tranquility sooner; however we cannot guarantee network stability or connectivity until after the end of the scheduled downtime.
Users that log in before the end of the scheduled downtime will be playing 'at risk' and will not be reimbursed for losses incurred by upgrade related issues.
We apologize for the inconvenience the extended downtime will cause for some members of the community and encourage training a long duration skill. "
Our most recent expansion, EVE Online: Revelations, has earned a score of 9.0 in a glowing review by leading German game site Gbase. Among the raves about the new features like the new territories and combat boosters, reviewer Kim Radojewski wrote, "Eve Online can be recommended for hardcore Sci-Fi fans and light users alike."
