GameDaily Crysis Impressions - January 13, 2007
There's nothing too special about this article. Towards the end they comment that holding down the middle mouse button while moving the mouse to select a nano-suit option is difficult. I'd like to say that it's not at all difficult as I use the middle mouse button for voice chat in many games. There's also the hotkeys you can use to change instantly between suit options. Read the article if you want, but it's definitely not a must read.

1UP Podcast Reveals Crysis for Xbox360 - January 13, 2007
This is getting really confusing. In one corner we have Cevat Yerli (CEO of Crytek) explaining that there's absolutely no plans for a console port of Crysis. But in the other corner you have reports such as this one which suggest otherwise. I'll defintely be following up on this report with information from Crytek. There's a possibility that the guys in this podcast started getting mixed up with the Xbox360 version of Age of Conan. They do say though that it won't be the same game as on the PC which sounds exactly like something Crytek would do. They wouldn't just port a game, they'd make it unique for that specific platform.

1UP also talked for atleast 5 minutes about their experience with Crysis at CES 2007. They disucss the graphics, nano-suit and tell stories of what they witnessed when observing Crysis. This really is podcast to be heard. I've edited out the rest of the podcast so it only leaves the part about Crysis, but I've also provided a link to the full podcast where Crysis starts to mentioned around 19 minutes into the mp3. - (thanks doomguardian for finding this).

Crysis Information from PC Zone Magazine - January 13, 2007
UK's PC Zone Magazine has done a small write-up on Crysis. Here's some of the details which were included (thanks to Nomadski for this). Some of this info is new while some is old.

In the 'Power Struggle' multiplayer mode:

  • There will be a "Buy System" in place for the multiplayer where u 'purchase' vehicles and advanced weaponry that will aid you and the team.

  • They are bought using 'Purchase Points' which are rewarded to the player for good team play and tactical decisions like helping team mates capture and defend factories, or by sharing vehicles.

  • Depending on your play style, you can have anything from a quick infantry skirmish to a vehicle battle lasting hours.

  • It's designed to offer objective-based gameplay which makes it feel almost like a single player game with lots of very intense enemies.

  • Still from the magazine, but said to be "rumored" is a singleplayer sequence inspired by Jurassic Park: The Lost World where the raptors stalk their prey through a field of long grass. With the aliens/robots taking the place of the raptors and with the physics in the grass playing a huge part in recognizing where they are moving. This could very well be true as Crysis has said many times that they've been inspired by movies.

CES Performance and Gameplay Issues - January 13, 2007
For the most part, the performance and gameplay at CES was pretty good, but there were some things which everyone has noticed. An employee of Crytek named Darjul explains in his french blog that both the choppy performance and bad AI will undoubtedly be fixed before the release of Crysis. It's just part of this development stage. Here's the translated blog post (thanks to jo-snowman).

We can read everywhere that the reactions are very positive on the CES demo. It motivates us and makes us happy, but there were also some negative points. What comes up the most often is that Crysis lags during one point or another in the game. No, it does not lag, it stops for a short instant, and that is not the same thing as lag. I don’t want to explain why, but we will make sure it is fixed. The other problem that was brought up was that the AI was bad. That again is because it is a long way away from being finished; it will still take time to get the results we want. If Crytek wanted, Crysis would have already been in stores, but then it would have just been another first person shooter. If Crysis were to be released in its current form, it would be one of the best games out there. But the objective is clearly to make a killer-app and for that we must still refine it a bit more.

While we're talking about development, you all should have noticed a little development status bar on the left. This bar will slowly fill as the development of Crysis progresses. I'll also be adding a 'learn more' link below it where you can read more detailed information on the development of Crysis.

    Beyond3D User Crysis Video from CES 2007 - January 13, 2007
A guy over at the Beyond3D forums has posted 4 videos of Crysis which he took at CES. The camera used in these videos did quite well at capturing the color from the LCD monitors. I enjoyed watching these videos quite a lot.

UPDATE: All 4 videos have been merged and enhanced. You can still go and download them seperately at Beyond3D (link below).
