Anticipating the Crusade[ Comment ] Print News | Mail News | Category: The Burning Crusade Our new resident writer of the Player's Pulse has published his latest, and as you guessed it, The Burning Crusade is the theme. He talks about what he is most looking forward to once the gates are open tomorrow. Go give it a read...
The majority of these realms will be placed in a new battlegroup, the name of which has yet to be announced. These are new non-transfer realms and as such the Gates of AhnQiraj will be closed and they will not be open to character transfers for six months.
After upgrading one of the machines here on a fresh install, nothing additional aside from the 2.0.0-2.0.3 patch inside the directory, the total size of the World of Warcraft folder with the expansion installed is 6.6GB. I'm guessing that's a pretty decent guideline. Keep in mind though that while patching additional space will be needed to create temporary files, so it's always good (and necessary) to have more room than just what the game requires.
The bonus honor is included in your daily estimates. The estimate will almost always be higher than the actual honor your receive by varying amounts due to diminishing returns. You receive less and less honor as you continue to kill, or receive honor from a kill, for the same target.
We've taken steps to reduce the amount of experience players will receive from certain repeatable quests, or just outright removed it in order to curb some attempts at getting a head start when expansion releases. I haven't heard anything regarding experience just not being awarded for quests though, and I can't imagine that being the case, but if someone can cite a post I would appreciate it.
Personally I'm dropping everything and running through the portal. I don't really want to run around, taking flight points, running, turning in things, etc. when I could be experiencing new content and having fun. Unless you've really experienced everything before (if that's even possible with an MMO and player interaction), you're really doing yourself a disservice by attempting to skip content.
I also have a hard time relating to the point of racing to a level unless you're really going for a world record. I would rather enjoy the game. If getting to 70 first on your realm is what makes the game fun for you though, knock yourself out.

Patch 2.0.5[ Comment ] Print News | Mail News | Category: File Updates Sorry for the late report on this, been having computers issues. But for those who notice, Blizzard released a small patch, v2.0.5, to get ready for the big xpack replese. Here are the notes...
- Increased the maximum number of realms that can be listed in the Realm List. - Updated the Terms of Use. - Created an option to disable UI Acceleration for users of select video cards experiencing graphical corruption of the User Interface. To utilize this option, enter the following line to the Config.wtf file, located in the WTF subfolder of the game:
Set UIFaster x
Where x equals:
0 This turns off all UI acceleration 1 For Internal Use Only - DO NOT USE! 2 Enables partial UI acceleration only. 3 Enables all UI acceleration.
Example:
Set UIFaster 2
Note: For users experiencing graphical corruption of the User Interface, it is recommended to try option 2 in order to correct the problem. If this does not solve the issue, then use option 0 to disable all UI Accleration.
And for those who were having issues logging on, have a listen to what Blizzard had to say:
The 2.0.5 client-side patch has caused issues with our authentication system. These issues can cause players to be suddenly disconnected from the game, as well as prevent them from logging in to the game. We are working to resolve this issue as soon as possible and will provide you with updates as soon as they are available."
The Burning Crusade Beta test will end tonight at midnight. To properly mark the occasion, starting this evening around 6 pm there will be a special End of Beta event on the Beta Test Realms. We hope you enjoy it and we thank you all for your hard work during The Burning Crusade Beta test. See you in Outland!
We have discovered an unforeseen production issue that will require a few extra steps for European World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade Collectors Edition owners to access their exclusive Netherwhelp in-game pet. We will update the website with further details on this issue as soon as possible.
In the meantime, we ask that you retain your proof of purchase and the complete contents of your Collectors Edition box set, including the content description sheet, after making your purchase.
This issue concerns only the in-game activation of the Netherwhelp pet. All the physical contents of your Collectors Edition are of the quality we strive for in Blizzard special editions, and the ability to upgrade your World of Warcraft account to play The Burning Crusade from 00:01, January 16 is unaffected in any way.
Please do not contact our billing support team as they do not have any details on this issue, and the extra calls would adversely affect their service to players. More details will come on the website before the launch of The Burning Crusade.
We sincerely appreciate the continued support from the European community, and apologise for the delay in activation of this feature.
Rajak is one of seven beta columnists for WoW Vault, that specifically focused on the post-60 leveling experience in Blizzard's first expansion. From the entire team at WoW Vault, Sprawl's Scrawl and Z Guild, we thank you for reading and wish you the best of luck in the Outland. It is our hope that just maybe you walked away learning a few things that might make your first days more enjoyable.
When is the official launch time for the Burning Crusade?
The official launch time is 12:00 AM (midnight) EST on January 16th.
What time will I be able to log in and play BC?
You will be able to log in and play as soon as you have purchased your copy of the Burning Crusade, installed it, and activated your key. Many retailers will be open at midnight. Please check with your local store for more information.
It will be necessary to have a Burning Crusade CD/DVD and a Burning Crusade authentication key in order to play The Burning Crusade expansion. There is content on the Burning Crusade CD/DVD that will need to be installed that is not included in the patches we have recently released. Each account (in the event multiple are owned) will need their own copy of The Burning Crusade expansion to install the additional content, and be upgraded with the included authentication key.
Just to clarify things a bit: You will need the Burning Crusade CDs/DVD to install the expansion, however you will still be able to launch and play the game without needing to have the discs in your drive. Essentially everything will be as it is currently, where you will only need the discs for installation of the game.
In preparation for the release of the Burning Crusade expansion, we will be issuing restarts to all realms. These restarts will begin at approximately 5 AM on Monday, January 15 and are expected to conclude shortly thereafter. Our regularly scheduled maintenance downtime will not be occurring for this week.
In addition, the following realms require a restart to their associated database. This will bring these realms down for approximately 30 minutes and will begin along with the other realm restarts. Thank you for your patience in this matter.
