The boys at engadget are reporting that Microsoft will soon reveal a Xbox 360 2.0 that includes a 120 gig HD and full 1080p via an HDMI output. I wonder if they would pack in the HD-DVD unit...

Of course, this is rumor at this point but if it true, it will be great news for the 360. On the flip side, I can see a lot of people who recently purchased 360's being pissed off. Hopefully MS comments about it soon.

Wow, now that I think about it, the PS3 doesn't seem so overpriced now.

That's cool news for people who don't have a 360 yet. I believe with the PS3 you can just swap the HDD for a larger one if you want. In the manual, I believe it even has instructions on how to do it. At least the article I read showed that it did anyway. So, you can go as high as your pocket book can allow.

This makes me glad I got the product replacement plan from Best Buy. I'll just swap my 360 for credit and put it towards this hypothetical upgraded version.

Let's hope that it also has a web browser and wireless keyboard and mouse support.

Wow, this blows, i just got a 360 for Xmas

I dont care about HDMI cause im using VGA anyway..... But the 120 HDD is a huge improvement. Ive had the xbox for 2 weeks and im only left with 2 gigs now....

I guess it just proves that Microsoft did rush their product just to get out before sony

And let the bitching / spam begin!

Even if they did add an HD-DVD as long as they don't start creating their games in HD-DVD there is no loss to anyone. When you bought your XBOX 360 you knew it didn't have HDMI support, if they decide to add it a year later that is their prerogative. I have an Xbox 360 and I think the 20gb HDD is a little small, but I doubt I'll ever use the space.

As said in those blog comments already, the only arguments are out of jealousy of people who MAY (assuming this article is even true) get more for the same price one year later. However, as long as the people who initially bought their console have no decreased functionality it only seems like a good business strategy to me. Who knows, if your lucky they might even have an upgrade option for you whiney cunts.

This would screw over current owners of the 360.

Will never happen, I'd put money on it.

Can't you just plug in an external USB drive via the USB port of the 360? Boom, 500GB of space for about $150 or so?

Are they making games for the PS3 yet? I'm looking at Blu-Ray players as the wifey likes her Disney flicks. But with only 1 game (Fall of Man Resistance) I'll probably just opt for a stand alone BR player and stick to the 360 for games. You can't beat Live!

Naa, Microsoft did not rush it. They included what they wanted to include in the console. This is probably just them adapting to the new service offerings they are supporting now like the Movie Rentals, HDDVD Drive,.....etc. They are just adapting. Yea, it does suck for people who have already purchased the unit but who's to say that all those people needs that extra stuff. I technically don't need it either although I will be using my store warranty to return my unit and get a new one.

the only thing is you can't save any xbox data on it (as far as i've seen) you can store music and pictures and shitm and play them on the 360, but nothing from marketplace or saved games can be put there...i think i tried it...maybe i should plug in my external drive again and make sure...

This is my guess on what will happen.

By next xmas this will come out and xbox won't actually lower prices at all but things will be cheaper. The premium 20GB HD version will now become the new core system(and drop to the core price) and the old core system will no longer be made. This new 120GB HD version will become the new top premium system and will be at that same price point. So technically the prices will be the same, you will just get more for your money. Oh and I'm sure the bigger HD will be buyable all by itself.

I believe this will be the case because:1)MS is seeing how much money will be made with the marketplace and wants all future xbox owners to have a HD. 2)PS3 is priced high enough that the "new core" will still seem quite cheap in comparison.

Another possibility yet maybe not all that probable: The old core will still exist and be dropped even futher down in price in an attempt to combat the low Wii price.

I'd imagine that the new HDs will be purchaseable as well. You can probably just swap out your current one...although, that would really suck as you'd lose your downloaded content, save games, etc.
