You and your party are crawling around in a new found dungeon when you happen upon a wing of Gargoyles and their treasure chests. The leader is as surprised to see you as you are to see them. The leader spouts off a comment to you as they all come toward you and your party in full attack.
What is that comment the leader of the Gargoyles spouts out to you?
This contest will be allowed to garner responses until midnight Sunday, November 26, at which time a panel of judges will select the top 10 responses to be posted on D&D; Vault and, of course, the winner of the week!
How do you translate a worldwide role playing franchise that's more than 30 years old into a portable experience? In the case of Dungeons and Dragons Tactics, Kuju Entertainment and Atari's upcoming RPG, you start by including source material from the Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide and Monster Manual from the 3.5 edition ruleset. You follow that up by creating a new world to set your adventure in, so you're not bound by the established plotlines and stories from popular realms like Greyhawk, Eberron or Forgotten Realms. Finally, you focus on combat and exploration, so that the hardcore and the newcomer to the D&D; style of play can enjoy the title.

Auction House
In the next update we are doing a complete restructure of the Auction House fees. Posting fees have both reduced and simplified. Previously we used a fairly complicated formula to determine the posting fee for an item. We are now going to be using a percentage of the item's value which will increase based on the length of the auction. The new fees are as follows:
8 hour auction = 0.5% of item value with a 5gp minimum
24 hour auction = 1% of item value with a 10gp minimum
48 hour auction = 1.5% of item value with a 15gp minimum
72 hour auction = 2% of item value with a 20gp minimum
Buyout prices, if any, will not affect the posting fee, nor will your set minimum bid. The posting fee is based solely on the item's value. The posting fee will also be refunded for all successful auctions.
We are also adjusting the selling fees. The Auction Houses will now charge a blanket 30% of the sell price for all successful auctions. This percentage is the same regardless of the length of the auction.
In addition to the changes to the fee schedule, we are also making some improvements to the Auction UI to help ensure that both buyers and sellers have accurate, up-to-date information about the state of their auctions.
We have completed our initial evaluation of the death penalty system and are in the process of making some changes. The first change we made was to increase the amount of experience you regain by using a Resurrection Shrine from 25% to 50% to match the amount granted by using the Raise Dead Spell. This change is already live and helps ensure that Clerics (and characters with high Use Magic Device skill that use Raise Dead scrolls on the rest of the party) will no longer suffer the worst death penalties of any class.
For the next update we are adjusting the curve that defines the death penalty. You should see a much smoother progression from now on, and there shouldn't be any radical jumps in the death penalty as you level. You will notice that the death penalty for levels 11 and 12 have dropped significantly. We have also adjusted/lowered the rate for multiple deaths. You will find lower death penalties across the board releasing will no longer be devastating to your XP bar.
We are also investigating another change when a character is inactive their death penalty will slowly fade away. Casual players and players with multiple characters they like to play are likely to gain the most benefit from this change, and a single bad night will not cripple a characters advancement.
Keeping Your DDO Account Safe[ Comment ] Print News | Mail News | Category: D&D; Online - D&D; Online Keeping your account information private is vital to ensuring nobody else gets access to your account and damages any of your characters or accomplishments. Wed like to remind you to not download and use any application with DDO not approved by Turbine. Many of these programs will claim to provide enhancements, shortcuts, and a variety of other promises while in reality they are designed to steal your account login information. Installing one of these programs can lead to your account being hacked. Likewise some people will attempt to steal your account information by sending you a file in e-mail such as an .exe file. It is important to note that Turbine does not send these types of files through e-mail. Instead we will direct you to a download page hosted on one of our websites if we need you to install a program.

Google Ad Help Print News | Mail News | Category: D&D; Online - D&D; Online The Vault Network is asking the community to help us preserve our "Don't Destroy the Game" philosophy and mantra. Our parent company IGN has partnered with the good guys over at Google to run its "Google Ads" across all of IGN's sites, which includes the Vaults. With that comes the chance of Google running a gold seller-type ad that might slip by the existing filter we help set up to ensure these ads are blocked. Because we told Google that these gold farmer type ads suck and don't belong on the Vault Network. They were more than happy to work with us to keep such ads off our sites. So, we will be watching to make sure we remove any that happen to slip through and muck up our stuff!
There is a gold lining to this situation (pun intended!). We have a system in place where any community member can submit an ad they might see via a simple and easy web form. You only need to provide one of two pieces of information: Name of Ad and/or the Link for the Ad -- that's it. Click here to learn more and where to submit.
Please note that rewards are subject to a good board history. Your title may be denied if you have a recent bad history. Thank You for understanding.
First off, it would be worthwhile to explain what the Topic of the Week is. Each week, we will be starting a new discussion. The discussion will be contained on the thread and will remain on topic. We will post the best response on the DDO Vault website and the poster will receive one week VIP status OR a title of their choice. This title never goes away. The "contest" is officially over when the new topic of the week is posted, but the discussion can continue. Feel free to have friendly arguments with the other posters. Discussion and debate is good and encouraged, but do not let it get out of hand. Feel free to explore the subject!
Winners have one week (7 days) from when the results are announced to claim their prizes. If prizes are unclaimed after a week, they will go to another eligible person (second place if they do not have the same reward, or someone who achieved an honorable mention.) In the case of no other placed or honorable mention winners, they will go to another contestant, judged by the same merits as that of the original contest.
We are aware of the losses that some people had in the system, and we are working on a solution to help those people out as well. We'll provide more information when it is ready for release. In the meantime, we appreciate your patience and will do whatever we can to help you out.

Turbine Statement on DDO Server Issues[ Comment ] Print News | Mail News | Category: D&D; Online - D&D; Online Due to high demand from the release of Module 3 and related technical issues, DDO has experienced some service disruptions during periods of high load that have affected some of our players. All of our servers have remained open, however during peak times some players are experiencing issues. It is our goal to produce cutting-edge games that immerse our fans in other worlds, and disruptions like this are unacceptable to us.
Weve had a team of engineers working around the clock since the issues first appeared on Friday, October 27th. We have already corrected some of the errors and were closing in on the root cause of the problem. Were not going to claim victory until DDO is running smoothly and all of our players are enjoying the game once again.
Until that time, we hope that you can remain patient. We will be providing updates in the Service News section of our forums.
Resolving this issue is our number one priority. Were truly sorry for the problems any of you experienced. Please bear with us for just a bit longer as we finalize a solution.
This thread will be allowed to garner responses until midnight Sunday, November 5th, at which time a panel of judges will select the top 10 responses to be posted on D&D; Vault and, of course, the winner of the week!
The person chosen for submitting the #1 response, will be awarded with either a one-week VIP or a permanent title. Rewards are subject to good board history.
